Poker Stars $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter By DeucesCracked Poker Videos

SB: $25.00
Hero (BB): $25.00
UTG: $10.90
MP: $21.80
CO: $10.25
BTN: $29.05

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is BB with 8♣ 8♠
1 fold, MP calls $0.50, CO raises to $2.50, 2 folds, Hero ???

A tight shortstackers isolation range will be
66+,A5s+,KTs+,QJs,A5o+,KJo+
here, against which 88 performs with a slight edge. The times he has to fold everything but 66+,A8s+,KQs,A9o+,KQo will make up for the flip I have when getting it in against this range + deadmoney.
The fish will be limp/coldcalling sometimes with a very wide range though. If he does so this hand plays terribly in a protected pot. What do you do?

Spoiler

Hero raises to $7, MP calls $6.50, CO raises to $10.25 all in, Hero calls $3.25, MP calls $3.25

Flop: ($31.00) T♠ T♦ Q♠ (3 players - 1 is all in)
Hero checks, MP bets $11.55 all in, Hero folds

MP showed 5:c 5:s

What do you think about postflop? Getting in 20BB preflop and folding vs his actual hand is pretty badly -EV, but I figured most of his bluffs have 45%+ and he is seldom going to purebluff the protected pot without foldequity, which he in fact did.

Hey,
I think its big variance game, but doable. I think if i make sth then maybe i just shove pre-flop, cause we cant play well if fish calls. Then we are OOP with hand what doesnt hit much.

I´d also 3-bet flop and be pot committed afterwards, so I´d shove 88 on that board. he would call us down with worse hands. if you check you can´t really c/f getting these odds

Without initiative I'd be then bluffing at a protected pot. Is that what you mean I should do?
How about kevvu's idea of shoving in the 42BB?

well you´re valuebetting your 88 that point. and always good to shove yourself rather than check/call or if it goes c/c it may also come scare cards to you or that would improve your opponent hand
don´t really like to shove, since it is hard to balance. if you want to shove pf, then make it 6$ and if MP calls, shortstack shoves, you can reshove

Why it's hard to balance shoving? 88+ AJs+ Aqo+ and sometimes weaker Axs as bluffs with still decent possibility to hit. Can't it be good?
