my favourite story i read recently:
after his death, the big papa passes all his camels on to his three sons. the oldest one should get 1/2, the second 1/3 and the youngest 1/9.
this is how it always has been done. the tradition should stay alive.
however, the 3 sons discussed the situation, but couldnt find a solution to their problem. 17 cannot be divided by 2, 3 or 9. so how many camels should now each of them get?
nobody wanted to give up their fair share, so they consulted a wise lady in their cottage.
the lady said, she cannot solve the problem for them, but what she can do is giving them one camel. because she had one she didnt need.
not particularly satisfied the 3 sons left the house of the lady, but took the camel with them. at home, they tried again to solve their problem and tried to divide their (now 18) camels among them.

so now, they could chop the camels up ... but they still had 1 camel left .... so they decided it would be easiest to give the old lady her camel back ...

yaya i know, this story is not overwhelming ... but so often in life (yeah also poker) out of the box thinking and stepping outside the conventional path is so crucial to get best solutions for our problems.

Liked the story with the camels, but as jb said, if 1/2+1/3+1/9=1 it would be even better.

I had a very good professor at economics that always had stories to tell us at the start of every class, and one of them stuck with me because I thought it was pretty smart. Btw, I love fables and all the stories where there is some smaller/inferior/simpler person that tricks the smarter/bigger person. anyway, here it goes (this is what I remember of it):

"an economics professor and a farmer were waiting for a bus and to pass the time, the farmer suggested that they play a game. "I'll ask a question, and if you can't answer my question, you'll give me one dollar. Then you'll ask me a question, and if I can't answer, I'll give you one dollar."

"Well", said the farmer, "I don't know either, but if you'll give me one dollar I'll give you my fifty cents"

didnt get a lot of hu action today, mostly only boring nl matches. BUT, i played a lot of rush and analysed my game a bit .... will change my rush style now. tighter and more aggressive in all games. but i wont tell more

i have my apartment back! wohooo i like my war room, even if its not a sicko baller place. good enough for me.

i usually like to think about the big picture in life and putting things into perspective. thats also why im usually not in a bad mood or trying to have big arguments with my friends. i mean almost all our problems are so ridiculous compared to the BIG PICTURE

i think we rly need to put things into perspective way more often. and im not necessarily talking about poker. i mean the ability to live in safe environments, being healthy and being able to enjoy life to the sickest should by far outweigh any negative side events we might experience.

life is so fkn short anyway. and we are so fkn small as well. and we dont know so many things still ... its rly insane. everytime i klick this link, i feel like a little ant lost in the big forrest

and dont forget, we need bad moments to enjoy the good ones (and even separate good ones from bad ones). like with poker - if always the better hand won, nobody would play this game and there was no thrill in it. variance is also involved in rl. its just about living a-game all the time
