I like the 2nd barrel and fold to a raise. He can fold TT-KK+draws imo. So you will fold out better hands.

T.

A mistake was not to look at his stack size there. he reraised me but had just over 1bb extra to be AI, sdi I wasn't going to fold

tbh I though a proportion of his range would be draws, so I bet for value /protection against a lot of draw and hoping him to fold AQ+.

I have been called a lot over the last couple of days with A high on 3 streets (just a remark).

Well to be honest you should get f more concrete with his range. What exact draws are there? hmm hey dont they have a pair most often?

With hoping, we dont get anywher. you have to understand the exact math. Combo's of hands you think are folding, equity when getting called --> EV calculation. Im pretty damn sure I gave you the notorious equity chart

just quick because im playing :]

- I dont like the turnshove as Gerv said.

- The 97o is just pure spew, I dont think the fish is folding anything ever here on the turn.

- I dont like calling a limp 3bet with 98s. You cant call a 3bet with 98s anyways this shallow .

- I dont like the 2nd barrel wih T9s as he is never folding anything better

- I dont like calling a 3bet with 77 against obvious AA. Yes his 3bet is tiny, but I dont think you can profitably call this shallow

Thanks you for your comments;

The 98s is not a 3bet but just a raise that I call. I rarely do it OOP.

The 77, it depends how you see it. If you put him on AA or at least KK+, I have massive implied odds if I hit. But I should have folded the turn.

Here is the range I put him on on the flop:

JJ-77, ATs+, Ad9d, Ad8d, Ad7d, Ad6d, Ad5d, Ad4d, Ad3d, Ad2d, KdQd, KdJd, KTs, QdJd, QTs, J9s+, T9s, 98s, 87s, ATo+

And obviously i know now that he would not fold anything on turn, but I would expect most to fold at the very least AJ+ on turn apart of course from AdJd+. That is 48 combo out of 166.

and I have 20% equity against the rest, if he calls with very thing else.

Ip layed 2 session today , but the 2nd session, I was feeling very tired and started to make some silly mistake so I decided to quit early and study instead.

Yesterday I had a very interesting conversation with Vonki about a hand she played where she wondered if folding KK in a particular situation was right. Vonki discussed it in her blog so I'll just link to it :)

Calling or Folding KK?

Here is a hand I played yesterday which I found interesting

$0.10/$0.25 No Limit Holdem
9 Players
Hand Conversion Powered by weaktight.com

Stacks:
UTG RC1515 ($26.99)
UTG+1 TylerFkingDurdN ($13.90)
MP1 glnzz ($10.34)
MP2 Geomatro ($8.92)
MP3 juandecano ($118.51)
CO Hero ($13)
BTN Killerius ($37.07)
SB VityaChek ($14.33)
BB ABF Big Daddy ($11.01)

Pre-Flop: ($0.35, 9 players) Hero is CO Q♣ K♣
RC1515 calls $0.25, 4 folds, Hero raises to $1.10, Killerius calls $1.10, 2 folds, RC1515 calls $0.85

Flop: 9♣ 5♦ 7♣ ($3.65, 3 players)
RC1515 checks, Hero bets $2.50, Killerius raises to $7.25, RC1515 folds, $4.75 to Hero ($9.4)?

villain is a reg 14/12 call open raise 11% from BU. post flop he raises only 5% on flop bet, AF of 1.9 on flop and Afq 31% WTSD 27% and W$SD 63%, I have over 2K hands against him.

If i call I basically commit myself so I might as well push there and cacluate my equity as if he puts me AI. I think his range is quite restricted to PPs here so I put him on 99+, 77, 55

If I go AI here i am at 2:1 so I need 33% equity.

Player 2: 59.383 % 59.015 % 0.735 % 40.250 % 99+, 77, 55

so a push seems the best idea here.

Hi,

Seems a super easy bet/AI spot with FD + 2OC's imo. I would even cbet $3 here which makes the shove even easier.
I agree on the range since he wont bluff here ever 3-way.

Thanks T.

btw I don't see you much on Skype recently.

Just did a session review for yesterday's game and apart for 1 hand which i played REALLY bad, I am quite happy with my game and my improvement in hand reading.

I thought I would post this hand:

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $0.25(BB) Replayer
SB ($26.13)
BB ($20)
UTG ($8.81)
UTG+1 ($24.62)
UTG+2 ($25.25)
MP1 ($8.07)
MP2 ($24.02)
Hero ($11.10)
BTN ($25.35)

Dealt to Hero 7♠ 7♣

fold, fold, fold, MP1 raises to $0.50, fold, Hero raises to $1.35, BTN calls $1.35, fold, BB calls $1.10, fold

FLOP ($4.65) 6♥ 8♠ 7♥

BB bets $1.25, Hero raises to $4, BTN raises to $24 (AI), BB folds, Hero calls $5.75 (AI)

TURN ($25.40) 6♥ 8♠ 7♥ 8♦

RIVER ($25.40) 6♥ 8♠ 7♥ 8♦ K♥

Hero shows 7♠ 7♣
(Pre 19%, Flop 88.7%, Turn 90.9%)

BTN shows K♠ K♣
(Pre 81%, Flop 11.3%, Turn 9.1%)

BTN wins $24.13

:f_confused:

My focus today will be:

- Keep working on my hand reading skills
- Observe stack size (I tend to forget to do that :( )
- Work on my bet sizing

finally, love this song while grinding (yes i have numerous amount of time that Busta spoils Tiesto's beat, well let's disagree there and leave it at that _grin: )

Have a good day at the tables

Nice blog!
I have a question - have you ever tried the MSS on 6 max?
I read the new strategies for it and of course they say - only at full ring, but I was wondering if it can be applied for SH.
I want to start BSS for NL10,but I have bankroll only for MSS and I don't want to move from the SH tables.
What do you think?

Hi DestinationAnywhere

I think you can adapt to a SH game, I just have played so much full ring that I don't feel confortable on SH atm. Probably need some practice :)

@Manu nah personally I dig more the Busta version :f_p: but thanks, I had not heard this version

Had another great coaching session yesterday.

It made me really re-evaluate my game. So I had a long think and spent some time doing other things including a bit of poker reading and talking mindset.

I still did not feel great in the evening but still talked myself into playing. I'd rather play less tables and fight my current state of mind. If I had waited to feel good this month I probably would not have played at all. It is to easy to fall into lazyness. If it was a passing bad feeling, not playing is fine but it is my current state of mind. High stress level, low confidence etc are things that i need to tackle rather than wait they go away.

So I play a 2 table session with the aim to give a 100% concentration. And I feel like I managed. I played only just over 1 hour, 600 hands.

here is a hand that I thought was interesting :

Free play with Nut FD on flop 3 way

Raisa the flop and try to get it AI imo. If they somehow manage to fold ATo there your play was a success. If not, you still have great equity and they might call with worse Ax since 'it's hard to lay down top pair'.

just try to ship it pre when you're good alot of the times rather than face a decision when some random 4card straight turns. even against a 2pair, you do great, and they are going to go with their Ax alot anyway.

Thanks for the help. do You mean flop or pre as written. Quite a few players limp shove their monsters. I try to mark them but I see more everyday :). I could indeed at least raise pre, if not ship :).

@Manu, I was hesitating between shipping on flop and calling. at the time I opted for calling because I thought I was more than likely slightly behind but with great pot and implied odds. Looking that the equilator output I think shipping flop is a bit more +ev. maybe even pre as supeyrio was suggesting.

For the first time in a long time I am not playing any poker today :)

I realised this morning that there is something messed up with my mindset. and i have to figure that out and sort it out before I can start winning again. atm I don't seem to play a hand or analyse a hand properly.

I sorted a lot out today and did a lot of self talk but I have a still have a long way to go.

Hey man,I read some of your first posts where you say you play MSS Rush.
So how this thing to sit out of the table once you reach maximum is working ?
I mean - you are always moved to a new table, and I guess if you sit out and want to be instantly back to the table you have to be with the same amount?

Right now I am playing in a smaller poker room Everest and it's hard to follow the strategy for the maximum, cause they are few FR tables and I am forced sometimes to play with 100BB or more.

Thanks!

Hi DestinationAnywhere

Right now I play Rush poker on FT and I must say it's ideal for MSS because you can leave when you reach your goal stack and come back to the table the next hand with you starting stack.

I have taken a day off yesterday and so far today only did some hand review. I will play a little tonight.

February update

[ ] Profit
[ ] 100K+ hands
[ ] 50k ftps
[x] Iron man status

worst month so far. so a lot of work on mindset for march

Hey Thazar,

You're blog is great man, I've been following for a while in the shadows!

Have you looked at the MSS articles at all? Do you deviate much from them or do you stick religiously to them?

Just started playing MSS but giving myself a chance to get used to it in the micros. I'm finding it pretty awesome and very easy to multitable which is great for RB.

I will be playing on FTP shortly once my self exclusion period ends but I think I'll stay away from Rush as it TILTS me alot!

Keep up the good work man!

Regards,
Gary

@DestinationAnywhere: no worries, Well I hope not to stay too long at NL25 and to go back to NL50 before long

@Gary: thanks for the cheer :) .Yes I have read the MSS articles and follow some of their basis. but best of all I have a great coach that takes me way beyond the basics and charts. Otherwise the articles are great.

Tonight at 1 hour session where I played pretty good (I think) but will confirm during session review. I still don't feel on my A-game though fortunately it is good to suck out on a 3way pot
