It was the pre-bubble phase to Final Table. only 2 players to go.
I don't have info on the Villain... just have been moved to this table and only played 8 hands.

Poker Stars No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t1500.00/t3000.00/ante t300.00 Blinds - 6 players

Hero (MP): t27832.00
CO: t45523.00
BTN: t40261.00
SB: t17741.00
BB: t709.00
UTG: t29057.00 - VPIP: 38, PFR: 13, 3B: 0, AF: 0.0, Hands: 8

Pre Flop: (t3709) Hero is MP with A :diamond: A :spade:
UTG calls t3000, Hero raises to t9000, 4 folds, UTG calls t6000

Flop: (t21709) 7 :club: 3 :club: 6 :club: (2 players)
UTG checks

What do do with this FLOP and only 18k chips? Check behind? Shove?

i shove.

if he calls and has a set, you can't get away with it. just cooler

if he calls and has a pair or overpair, you dominate him, just hope you don't get bad beat.

if he calls with a flush draw, flip coin.

your goal when in the money is to always increase your stack so push it baby!

chow! :f_cool:

Thanks a lot for your fast reply.

Yes, I shoved and he had 77.

I thought I might played it bad, since the board had 3 clubs... but then again, I'm already commited since I raised PF, right?

I could have shoved PF too... but could lose action from Villain...

I would shove pre, easier to play+its super obvious you have strong hand here when you raise it this way

I would shove pre as well, your raise screams strength and strange as it seems you are more likely to get a call by shoving than raising.

Also by not shoving you invite BTN, CO and SB to the party and AA whilst still very strong, doesn't play as well in multipots.

As played that 6k set mining call by villain is just bad play!

Thank you, guys...

Definitely, I should hv shoved pre (agree that raise can show more strenght)

I guess I just wanted to hear exactly what was my first tought, after losing this hand...

against such bad players i make it 11.000 which is the same as a shove. but bad players like him would call 77 oop there, but maybe fold against a shove!
on higher limits of course easy push!

note: utg limps, bb is all in

what do you mean easy push on higher limits? on flop or pre?
what do you mean 11k? on flop or pre?

I'll raise to 10-11k preflop so I can have an easy shove on flop, with SPR

11k preflop and raise flop
on higher limits push preflop -> looks weaker than isoraise to thinking players and you'll maybe get more action!

its true that shove looks weaker but tbh thinking player will never limp in that spot except if he is trapping (and if he is trapping money will get in any way), so we got to get most value from fishes and that means raise to amount that will setup an easy shove on flop considering SPR (in this spot 10-11k)
