thanks! :f_p: alright, i'll take your advise.

just got home from the gym and whew, having a strong mindset for you to daily go to the gym is also a thing that is hard to acquire also. i'm going to the gym to atleast breakeven against the long hours i'm sitting in front of my computer.

outside of poker, i want to maintain a healthy lifestyle. healthy physically, emotionally, socially, spiritually, and of course,...... financially!! hahaha :f_biggrin:

the thing is, i don't have a girlfriend yet! so that's one thing i'm also aiming for as a goal this year. LOL :f_biggrin:

I have achieved 1,000 MTT Cashes!!!!

I don't know if that's something that I could really be proud on, since almost of them are just micros..... but hey, it's something!!

Looking back, I've come a long way. Well, not that very long yet. hahaha!! I deposited 2,500 pesos (around $56) in my account in October and busted it in a month. Deposited again 5,000 pesos (around $114) in November and have grinded my way ever since. I was able to cash out around $2,500 in profits already ever since!!!

Apart from poker, i have this part time thing i do online which is just very easy and gives me a bit more income every month. And i'm just waiting for some of my incentives from it to be deposited to my bank account and guess what, i'm about to see for the first time a 6-figure savings of 100,000 pesos in my bank account!!! For a 21 year-old, i think that is already a great achievement and that's a great gift for myself since my birthday is next month already!!!

My goal for the year and hopefully i'll be able to achieve it is to see a 7-figure savings in my bank account!!! woohoo, so excited just thinking of it. :f_biggrin:

What do you think of my stats from official poker rankings? is it solid for an MTT grinder or i need to take more risks to win more juicier cashes? the only thing is, the May month haven't been doing well yet and it's showing a negative ROI. there's 8 more weekdays left in May to bring it back to show a positive!!! wish me luck!!! :f_biggrin:

Sharkscoped you to get better idea of your stats, since the ones you posted include mtts and mt sngs which can change things a bit :f_p:

Your ROI is good/great(dunno what's achievable) at 90mans :) Really small samples on other games, so nothing to say about them

I'd suggest you to start playing 180mans instead of 90mans, and preferably turbos. Because non turbo 180mans highest stake is 4,5$(that's obv not what you're looking for longterm :f_p: ). And so, the sooner you start learning/adjusting your game to turbos, the sooner you'll move up to 8$/15$ limits, where you can make a lot of money(3 months of good grind and you have 7 figures profit(in pesos) :f_biggrin: )

i'm quite not comfortable with turbos. i've tried playing the $2.20 180 man turbos but only got crushed with it. but i see it as a good way to move up, so i would like to try it again.

is a $380 bankroll good enough to try out those $2.20 180 man turbos again? what do you think?

what advises could you give me if i were to try them out again? is it advisable that i always use HUD when playing them?

basically, i've been a really tight aggressive player and this approach have been good enough to rake profits in those micro regular speed tourneys. but i know in turbos you have be more aggressive and a bit loose.

what do you think???

You get 5 free searches(but you can't use filters)/day.

If you want to get more searches and ability to use filters, then you need to pay a fee :) I don't remember what are the fees, but you can check on their website, just click 'Purchase' at top right

alright, will probably mix in a few $2 180 man MTTs in a day, probably 5. just to try getting a hang of them.

today, i don't think i played well all throughout. at the beginning, my mindset was straight, but after i got suckout after suckout, i kinda tilted and verbally harrassed the players with "WAHAHAHAHAHAHA" everytime their limping or are just playing fishy.

hayz...............

some hands:

Very Nice Stats YinYangS!!! a few more of your post might actually inspire me to quit my day job! How much time do spend each day grinding? Ever think of switching to 9-player SNGs? Playing at least 4 hours now seems to be too tiring for me. That's why decided to learn SNGs again and limit my session to just about 2 hours and take some break between sessions. Not exactly what you call hardcore grinding. :f_biggrin:

Thanks, but no profits for this May yet. LOL

Quit, quit, quit, quit, quit!!!! LOL :f_p:

I'm actually trying to consider other types of games (cash games or sit&gos) as an alternative for me to play on shorter periods of time. Because I play MTTs, i need to put in hours and I usually play 6 to 8 hours a day.

Cash games
- i'm trying to see if i can get a hang of 6-max ring games. but i sometimes can't endure losing full buy-ins in one hand. but they're a good way to practice being more loose, aggressive, and thinking in ranges
-full ring, i can play them with up to several tables and just have a nit-style. but then again, swings are just crazy and more prone to tilt because of the possibility of donks hitting their hands

Sit&Gos
-9-max, I can play them. But i'm not sure if i can profitably win in them in the long run
-6-max, they are a good way to pass time

Omaha
-So much action, so much swings

What i can say is, different game, different mindset and thinking needed. whew

alright, so i'm trying to consider trying out cash games because it seems a good way to move up the limits slowly but steadily.

i figured i want to start learning and widening the range of games that i play so that i'll have more alternatives. and also, i think by playing cash games, it would improve my MTT play also. what do you think?

i will probably play 6-max. i can play full ring also but with a nit-style play.

i have a $350 bankroll right now, and will start with NL5 and buying in with 100BBs. So i'm gonna have 70 buy-ins for this limit.

Is that ok?

Moving up requirement - 100 buy-ins for the limit.

That means I need to win $650 or 130 buy-ins in NL5 for me to be able to move up to NL10.

So my question is, how long does it normally take to win 130 buy-ins by

  • Playing 6-max? i play a very LAG style. i have won quite a bit dollars in it. will be playing only 4 tables since i will be playing more hands.
  • playing full ring? i can play 10 to 15 tables with a semi-tight aggressive style. but i haven't had much success with it yet. but if ever, how long to achieve to win 130 buy-ins playing with it?

and one basic question, what would be a good standard raise on these limits?

  • on 6-max, is 3 BB fine considering the LAG style?
  • on full ring, 3 BB or 4 BB? the strategy section says that standard should be 4BB but what are your experiences on what is profitable on the long run?

I'm no cash game player, but 100 BI seems to way to much. I would say 50BI is enough, maybe even less, you wanna get out of the micros as fast as possible to start earning some real $.. :)

Reply
Quote

well, if you need 130BI, then it is 13000bb, lets assume you are a 10bb/100 winner (which i do doubt) then it would take you about 130k hands, if your winrate is 10bb/100, so that way too many hands, i would say that 50bi for a limit is absolutely enough

Reply
Quote

130,000 hands?? woah!!

if it's full ring, and i play 10 tables. that's 750 hands per hour. i need almost 200 hours for 150,000 hands. if i can play 5 hours of cash game a day, i could move up in 40 days. whew!!

50 buy-ins?? hmmmm. i think i just really need to be confident of my game. right now, i'm just not very confident but i believe i can do it. i just have to psyche myself up.

is there someone who can give more encouraging words out there for a newbie? hehehe

My opinion is to start playing 1 or 2 tables of 6max+1 or 2 MTT-s. You try to focus on game and fix leaks, and MTT-s are just to give you some action if 1 or 2 CG tables seem boring or slow. Crutial is to play solid game. Start very tight and every few k of hands add some hands and moves. When start to loosen up, do that PF. First in position. When you start tight, you gonna miss some thin value spots, but also you gonna miss some of spots when somebody take your stack.

Good luck to your journey

the thing is, if i want to pursue Sit&Gos, which is better, Regular speed or turbos??

  • with regular speed, one Sit&Go table will take atleast 1 hour to finish. And i'm not yet comfortable multi-tabling it for more than 4 tables without HUD.
  • turbos will finish in atleast 40 minutes and so i can probably achieve a much better volume with it but i'm not sure if i can maintain a good profit with it because of the faster pace. hmmmmmm

I played $3.50 SitnGos today along side with some MTTs.

11 games of $3.50 full ring >>> Four 1st places, One 2nd place, Two 3rd places >>> 96% ROI!!

I think i'm just running hot. I got lucky on some spots but overall, I believe I've played well. But the thing is, there are usually 2 to 3 regulars at a table and so I decided to find an ideally better time to grind these micro SitnGos before profits would just swing back and forth among us.

No juicy cashes on the MTTs yet but tomorrow I decided to add some $4.50 180 man tourneys. Because I believe I have set my mindset straight again and I'm confident to win in these tourneys again.

Just some hands:

Hand #1 Is this too loose of a push given my stack, the stack in front of me, and the blinds? or is it just ok? Should I have just raised?

I went all-in on an overcard + flush draw flop only to know the overcards are of no use as i'm against a set and my flush didn't come. i kept on losing $1 dollar hands on non-showdowns against these fishy plays or probably because i was just the fish itself. and then i 3-bet this aggro min-raiser monkey, me holding pocket 10's on blind battle, and then he shoved his stack only to see pocket Queens. well, i got good reads but the timings were just completely off. sigh...... again, i'm hating cash games!!!!

since i'm winning on Sit&Gos instead, i think it's common sense to stick of them right? sigh......
