I just had such an amazing moment.
As I left my mothers place earlier, I told her: "There is going to be a thunderstorm today. My head feels so heavy and I've got a terrible headache". She looks at me and says "I know, I can feel it too".
Once I got inside, I could hear the rain starting to pour down outside. I went outside to take a peak, and I could see flashes of light and heard light thundering, so I went back inside to turn off my computer and get my robe. I snuggled down on my porch and I could hear the thunder getting closer.
I smiled to myself and had a flashback from last summer, when I was visiting one of my very best friends in Holland. As we were walking to the store, I told him there was gonna be a thunderstorm today. He looked up at the sky, laughed and said "The sun is out and there are no clouds, why would there be a thunderstorm?". I told him "You will see". As we walked back from the store, the rain started pouring down and we had to rush back to aviod getting soaked. As we got inside, the thunderstorm had just begun and he asked me "how the f*ck did you know?". I smiled at him and said "I could feel it".
As I was daydreaming, the thunderstorm had gotten closer. I could spot a lightning strike down at the mountain close to where I live. It was followed by a loud BOOM only a second later. I jumped in my chair.
As I turned my head to the left, I spotted another lightning strike down, and just a splitsecond later it was followed by an even louder BOOM. It was so loud I could no longer hear my own thoughts, and I could feel the ground shake. I could feel a rush of emotions going through my body, a string of fear but mostly excitement and amazement. All of a sudden, I felt really small. Any worries and problems were washed away and I was captured by the moment.
I closed my robe even tighter around me, as if it would help keep me safe. I thought about how amazing the powers of nature are, and how small we all are compared to it. The air was fresh and I could feel the energy in the air.
Now, the headache is gone. I feel so refreshed. My head is clear, and I haven't felt this good in a long time. I wish these moments would come more often. Oh wait, no I don't. If they did, they wouldn't have such an effect on me.
