Agreed. Below a certain threshold, more money = more happiness. Like, if you do not have enough to eat and then you earn $10, you are way happier.
But above a certain threshold you reach a point where the extra $ from working v hard and being v stressed is not worth it (or not worth it to some people). Like if I have $2000k per month and then I have $4000 I can living in a bigger house and have a nicer car and eat better food etc. But I'm not necessarily happier - just depends on how much extra you have to do for the money and on your priorities.
And yes, if you were always poor, you will strive to make lots of $ and you will be driven by the memory of poverty to work harder and harder. If you were always comfortable, the extra $ is less important.

I am a very understanding person. 
Tim, how come you stopped updating your BR?
It's a good question. Few reasons:
- First, most of the pro midstakes guys here don't post their BR. I don't want to be different.
- Second, once you get a few $K in your BR, doesnt matter whether its $4,550 or $5780 or w/e. It's enough to play your stakes (or not) and that's all that matters
- Third, when you post your BR, its a sign of results orientation (because that's how you track your progress/success). As one tries to develop a more proffessional mindset, moving away from the money is important. I have learned the hard way that focussing on lost $ is painful and -EV.
- Finally, I dont want to be seen as bragging. We English are very modest ppl.
