If you're paying $60 for a game, you should expect some entertainment too right?

Another swongy day. Low point: -$377. End point: $76.9.
$15/hr with r/bk...

Managed to outmindfk a sick 7% roi reg today by getting him to spew a thousand chips my way semibluffraising his g/shot on the turn and then repping an Ace on the river. Felt pretty good. Still running into a ton of weak Ax hands in my bvb shoves which sucks when I have J7o and always lose my 40:60s...

After 145 $60s total, I'm 28 BI below EV (around $1700) which is lame. EV -2.9%, but heading upwards...

SnG Madness Sup/T freeroll tomorrow. 2 mins of madness, most likely.

o-a-o.

Had a really relaxing short week on Vectis (the Roman name for the Isle of Wight) staying in self catering accommodation at the West Bay Club near Yarmouth. Took the little one swimming in the health club which she really loved and cooked lots of simple but delicious meals with Tim64 at the helm.

My great aunt, who is a year and a bit shy of making her century, absolutely doted on our daughter and is frankly inspirational given her advanced age. Strangely, despite not sitting at a computer once in five days, I really suffered with aches and pains. Dreadfully frustrating...

Kicked off my return with some relatively low limit games yesterday and together with Friday rake back I have moved into profit for the month:

Thought I would just take this opportunity to note the state of the "EV bank deposit" since I went full-time on 6max SnGs.
April: $418.77 under EV
May: $1609.05 over EV

This means there is $1190.28 available of green line profits (i.e. the amount I have earned -- but not withdrawn -- over what I should have earned) which could be used if I run significantly below EV in the future. I think this method -- i.e working on red line profits -- may be the optimal solution for a serious SnG player. I would seriously consider cutting out the green line from HEM completely, if such a thing were possible!

Would be interested in anyone's thoughts on this as an approach.

I'm doing that but in cgs. I can look at my ev-winnings but won't see my $$ amounts other than at the end of the month. I don't rly use the graphs anyway. It doesn't rly matter how my [insert color]line looks like, all i rly care is ev. And given the volume i've been putting in, it also works fairly well for my self confidence. When you play few k hands in a day your ev-winnings are rarely negative which is obv. good for confidence. Ofc results shouldn't affect my decisions but that's just not the lvl i'm on atm. Fwiw i deffo do recommend not looking at your $$ winnings but for me seeing some results adds willingness to study and do the best decisions all the time.

gl!

Hey Tim, noob question about sngs:
Is the red line in sngs more relevant than in cgs?

Much more so, in my (relatively) limited experience. I'm not sure I can explain why, though, so anyone out there who knows for certain feel free to chip in. I think it may be because in cash games you are Allin preflop much less often and so the importance a particular hand's pure equity against another hand/range is less important. In cg you will be making many of your Allin decisions with much more information about the strength of your opponent's hand.

In SnGs your red line is going to give you a much stronger indication as to whether you are generally getting your money in good (which is more important aspect of that poker variant).

In contrast, you could easily have a situation in cg where you generally get your money in good but you are nevertheless a losing player because [insert whatever leak or leaks you have].

@Shevtshenko - thanks. I seem to be getting to the stage where the suckouts don't really hurt any more. The only thing that upsets me is when I have a sustained period of redline breakeven. You can definitely experience longish periods when this is the case (and still be winning) so perhaps I should be less results orientated (regardless of what colour the line is!).

Just finished a pretty sweet $750 day:

Best of all, finally got one over on my nemesis. No names as he is a PS.com reg. Outlevelled himself HU with KQs and shoved a little light when I raised his complete.

Solid day.

Unk, no hands or reads. We could 3b pre but... meh... who needs to hate their life so hard when he 4bet jams?

Flop is std - tons of value from worse. We are not planning on getting away.

Turn is ugly since I see some Ax hands floating my donk. I think bet/fold is the alternative but that misses value from air.

Gross when he pots it... but... since I am donking and then apparently giving up on the turn, why would he pot it if he just turned top pair?

Guess I could ch/c the turn but then I have to ch/call any river. So I jam and give him chance to spazz call Tx... or KQ with his g/shot. Actually he is technically getting the right price if he can put me on Tx or what I have, but since I do this with some Ax as well his call is pretty horrid imo.

Grateful for any thoughts on this hand...

I think turn is standard once you taken the initiative, ch/shove is superior than ch/call imo.

Him potting it is good tbh - means he probably doesnt want a call lol.

Ah, yes. Sorry - didnt mean that I donk as std - it depends on the player. Just meant that donking here is not out of the ordinary.

That said, why do you dislike it vs unkown? Cos you assume most ppl cbet?

Thanks

Never has 20 BI below EV felt so good! Just eeked my EV over zero on the 60s after 220 games. These regs I battle, with $20k in winnings on Sharkscope, are human after all. Let's go.
