I don't know actually, it's Diamond in Finland but I sent it as Platinum. We'll see what the big bosses decide! ![]()
I also have an MTT video coming which will most definitely be just Gold.
Really looking forward to your MTT Video! After surfing some weeks in Costa Rica, chillin in Panama and the US I'll be Gold in a sec again ♦
Keep it up!
My HU video is now out, but more importantly, please check this thread if you want to star in my next MTT video!
Your chance to star in a video! Paging all MTT players
I think this was the largest amount of players I've ever beat in a tournament:

I 1-tabled that for 3 or 4 hours last night, I busted all the 55s and 109s that I played early and that was my smallest tournament of the night ♦
Live plans for this autumn:
[?] EPT Tallinn side events - I've got an anniversary with my gf on the 3rd so I can't play the main, but I'm thinking of taking a ferry to Estonia and playing the 2k and 1k sides plus some turbos.
[?] EPT Barcelona main and side events - the timing is perfect as I promised to take my gf somewhere before she has to go back to uni on Sep 2nd, and the EPT is at the end of August. So we could go there a few days early and then she could go home and I'd stay for the EPT. The tourney buy-ins would add up to 10k€ so I'm going to have to bink some more online to go.
My roommate moved away for good this week, he's going to do his military service (mandatory in Finland, this is such a stupid country) and then he's moving in with his gf. As a result, I've got 100 square meters to myself and I've been re-furnising and re-decorating the house all week. I turned one room into a home gym, ordered all kinds of weights and barbells and stuff online and installed stereos and air conditioning there. Should be good for quick sessions as the nearest gym from here is 30 minutes away and I don't have time to work out as often as I'd like. I also bought a kick-ass painting to my living room, hi there Pulp Fiction fans: http://www.bluesurfart.com/index.php?main_page=product_book_info&cPath=2_1317&products_id=10105
I'm not sure about next winter's plans yet, except that I'm without a doubt going to spend at least 2 months away from Finland. I think I'm going to play the Aussie Millions and spend about a month in Australia in December-January. I'd love to be in Sydney for the New Year's again. Apart from that I don't know, most likely I'm going to pick a cool tournament series somewhere warm (Florida?) and spend another month there.
I'm extremely happy with my decision to skip the WSOP. All in all I'm up about 20k from pokers for the summer (although I've got 7,8k stuck, thanks FTP!), and had I gone to Vegas I'm pretty sure I'd be down heaps and exhausted. Now I've relaxed a ton, studied a ton, made a lot of videos and articles for Pokerstrategy, spent time with my friends, got drunk like a monkey way too many times, hit the beach that's 200 meters from my house as often as I've had time to. I've lived the life instead of getting depressed in Vegas. I'm confident my relaxed mood and studying motivation will show as positive scores for the rest of the year as well. I'm at +55k for the 100k challenge so I'm going to have to grind a lot to catch up with that, but I haven't given up yet!
Hey Mikka! In your video you mentioned a hand from EPT Barcelona where you c/rai on three streets, care to share? Sounds like a fun hand ♠_biggrin:.
Nice scoop on Stars, keep them coming!
Haha, it was two years ago so this is almost certainly not correct bet sizings-wise but this is how it roughly went:
First level, we are 40k+ deep iirc. Aggro but good young Spanish guy raises to 300 at 50/100 from MP, random fish on the button calls, I call my BB with A3o.
Flop 7d5d2h, I've got the Ad for backdoor flush draw. Check, he cbets for 400 or something, the fish flats and I cr to 1500. I thought the fish can have anything and I can bomb him off the pot and it'll be hard for the spanish guy to call with the fish behind, and my bet rarely being a bluff as it's unlikely I'd bluff against two players one being a fish from his point of view. The spanish guy tanks and calls to my surprise, the fish folds.
Turn Kx, I think that if I check he's going to bet all his draws/floats and this shouldn't actually improve his range as I'm sure he'd just fold AK etc on the flop. So I check with the intention of cr'ing again, as it should be hella scary and to get value from bluffs, and from his one pair hands he bets for "protection" and then folds to a cr. He bets like 2,5k and I cr to 6k. He calls. At this point I'm pretty sure he has a flush draw or a set or (unlikely based on pre) two pair as he'd fold everything else.
River 8d or 9d. If I check, I'm sure he'll bet his flush and I'm pretty sure he's also valuebetting a set and he doesn't have 2p too often. I have the nut blocker and no one wants to bust at the first level of an EPT, so I think he's going to fold his entire range if I check/shove. He bets 10k, I go to fake tank (fake "hollywooding"), shove for 25-30k and he tanks and folds JdTd face up. Easy game!
Had a pretty decent night at Ongame tonight:

Favourite hand from the last HU, I thought if I 4bet tiny instead of shoving he might fold top pair type hands too. He tank folded so mission accomplished, maybe?
Hey there. I read your post about how u got ripped off by Tower Poker. How did that mess end up? I really feel sorry for you.
I randomly decided to go to Vilnius, Lithuania for a long weekend with a friend of mine. The plan was to drink moderately and see the sights. Instead, we saw nothing but bars and night clubs and I picked up the worst hangover of my life that lasted for over two days.
Friday:
Our plane touched down at 6PM. We went to eat and drank our first beer at 7PM. We went to about 34534531 different night clubs and ended up hanging out with random models all night. Finally found myself from the hotel room at 6AM making drunken phone calls to a 35-year old single mother wanting to discuss penis lengths.
Saturday:
Woke up hungover. Went to eat a hangover burger, it didn't help. Took a 3-hour nap, didn't help. We were supposed to do a lot of stuff on saturday afternoon but instead we pretty much laid in bed and complained about drinking too much Lithuanian vodka. And when we realized there was no cure to this hangover, we decided to go and drink more vodka. Ended up going to 4525149 different bars and clubs. Again somehow found random models to hang out with. How come all Lithuanian women are models?

I'm second from left, my tongue is all yellow because of too much vodka red bull.
Sunday:
The worst hangover of my life. Did absolutely nothing. But lay in bed and moan.
Monday:
Flew home in the morning.
GG Vilnius, from the little I saw I'd say it's an awesome city.
somebody explain to me how I didn't see this blog before?
epicccccccc.
I will now check for ghosts in every hotel room when drunk, thanks for the tip! ♦
glglglglglgl with challenge!
Wow what a retarded summer this has been.
I've pretty much dropped 80% of my life net worth which is a ton of money.
First of all, I've dropped 500 buyins in my games. I've just ran really trolololololll bad for the most part. I've played a bit higher than usual since the games are really soft right now due to black friday and regs being on summer vacations and randoms being on summer holidays. That adds variance of course and I've ran just so bad. I had one week when I won over 10k and every other week I've lost over 10k. My average buy-in is about $50 so do the math.
Then I got involved in an incident where I backed a player and he hit&ran me. I'm not gonna go into details but that cost a bit of money too.
I've also spent a ton of money buying pieces of people. I've only bought shares of people I know to be good - either my friends, or reputable sellers on PTP and 2+2, or regs from the games I play that I have good reads on. I've always ensured that their long term ROI according to OPR or scope is over 30% bigger than the price of the share after mark-up. I made a system where I buy shares of either 1, 2 or 3 units depending on the value of the share. I had a starting bankroll of 215 units and it took about 300 packages for me to bust that bankroll. I'm not gonna go to details with that either but I can assure you it's been hella expensive and I've just ran SO bad. Overall the sample is like 1000 tournaments (as I've bought packages mainly) and people who I *know* are good have just whiffed absolutely everything returning -95% ROIs for packages I have shares of. And then every time I miss a package the guy goes on and wins the Sunday 109r for 70k.
This actually happened at least 5 times. I had a package I definitely wanted to buy a piece of, but I just missed it as it sold out less than an hour before I noticed it. These packages I'd have 100% bought a share of would've returned the following:
-Two EMOP final tables for 5-fig euros
-One WSOP final table
-Sunday rebuy win for $71k (iirc)
-WPT final table
So had I managed to get a piece of those in time I would be like 50k richer. But instead I've always happened to buy pieces of the wrong packages from the same sellers. Variance is a bitch.
Then I've been refurnishing my house. There are so many hidden costs it's incredible, every single day it feels that 500€ just goes to some shit I don't even need but have to buy anyway. I'm almost done now thank God but it's cost a shit ton. For example I bought a home gym set for 250€. I thought this would be a great investment as my gym is 30 minutes away and a trip there takes 3 hours with showers etc, whereas doing it at home would take 1h-1h30min. This would give me 90 minutes more of grinding time which should mean around 100€/day hourly rates-wise. Well, I ordered the gym, and it turned out I had to pay postage fees too which was like 90€. Then I got the gym, and it was missing half the pieces, and it turned out that some stuff that you kind of expect to be included wasn't included. For example, the seat. So I had to order more shit and pay more postage fees. Then finally I realised that it does't have any weights or barbells. And of course I couldn't order random cheap weight disks online because this gym set is of non-standard size and normal weights won't fit. Instead my only choice was to order a shitload of overpriced weights and it's cost me over 1000€ already. And it's still not even ready. This same thing has happened with everything I've bought pretty much (bought Ikea shelves - noticed it has just the frame and no actual shelves, had to buy shelves separately. Bought a painting, shipping doubled the costs, noticed it's just the canvas, had to get a frame and the wooden background thing - oops it cost 4x the original amount, etc etc).
Then the FTP scandal. I had a big roll there and a friend paid me $ there for a live tourney share. Then I won $23k from the tourney and tried to send him the share back, and FTP won't let me because of transfer limits. I asked if he'd like Stars instead and he said yes so I sent him there. Fast forward a week and both my roll and the share from him is stuck there, probably forever. FUCK YOU FTP.
Then finally I got a 10k beat from the Finnish tax man. I'm not gonna go into details but basically the Finnish poker tax legislation is shit and unfair. My buyins and expenses last year were way bigger than my winnings so my tax debt should be $0. However the taxman isn't accepting any of my receipts and thinks that backing is somehow taxable even if you DON'T WIN. I played the WSOP ME last year having sold 70%. I didn't cash. I wasn't sponsored or anything, just sold % to friends at no mark-up (nice deal btw). Mr. Taxman thinks the $7k should be taxed because they don't think poker is a sport or a job and consider the 7k to be a GIFT. I got a 7k GIFT to play poker and now I have to pay tax on that shit? I had shares sold for a shit ton of tournaments and it adds up to like 23k taxes=have to pay around 10k. Also I had tons of receipts for flights, computers, hotels etc that should be tax deductable but they aren't accepting any of those because they are a fucking pricks.
And of course it's been an expensive summer with living costs through the roof, lots of drinking and traveling and leisuring and I've probably spent at least 10k within the past couple of months on just enjoying life. I don't regret this one bit but had I known that all this shit would happen at the same time leaving me almost cash broke I would've been more careful.
Now I'm gonna have to grind like $5 rebuys and hope I can get my boomswitch on. I played a long session today resulting at 1 cash out of 60 tournaments and a result of -$6200 which fills me with joy.
Fuck.

Come live in God's Own Country. The UK tax man loves us gamblers.
Just to close this off - from this point you can read my blog here: http://chuckbasspoker.blogspot.com
The outlook isn't anywhere near ready yet, but I've started writing anyway. It has pretty much my entire poker history, or at least will have in a couple of days when I have the last couple of posts written, and from then on I'll start writing in real-time excluding some past adventures I'm going to recap. Such as the who's gonna pull Partik Antonius's pants off bet, getting drunk with durrrr and some past degeneracies such as 10k roulette flips.
It also has information if you wish to become coached. Note that it's just for private sessions though, my role in Pokerstrategy will remain unchanged and I still have videos and articles coming (hopefully at a faster pace).
The main reason I wanted to move out from here is to market myself better, all the cool poker kids have their own blogs and urls (I just bought chuckbasspoker.com which will be redirected to my blog soon) and it kinda sucks this ending up on page 19 when I don't update in a couple of weeks.
I'm going to EPT Barcelona next week to play over 10k worth of tournaments, let's hope we can get positive results!
Thanks for reading, and hopefully see you in my new blog.
