If someone calls lets say 40% of his range I am pushing about 10% I know ICM but would like to know if you gugys can give me some general guide lines in this matter.

You should post hands for discussion here and general questions go to Strategy subforum.
About the question, there are tons of different situations dependent on various factors (blind level, effective stacks, stacks overall, position, bubble or not, etc). You can explore them closer with a tool like ICM Trainer Light from PS.com.
Use sngwiz by playing with ranges, and you get the "feeling" for it, do like 50 quizes per day or more if you feel like it. You can also mark problematic hands in HEM if you have it and later review, leave a message on my blog for contact, if you need help.
I am using wizard, but for example my biggest issue was and is pushing to less from the sb. Some say 100 percent. But not versus people calling you wide. By example having Q5o with 5 bb I push any 2 but having Q2s with 10 bb? I have pushed that often to screw my stack and get out limping of an sng. Anyway. I am doing the tests at sng wizards. I already did. Should start my blog here so i can put some hands and situations under the scope.

Q2s for 10bb is always a push as your opponent will not have a better hand often enough. And when he does you can still get there.
