I think I also had that problem but Ingrid asked someone from the inside ♠_cool: to do it for me
Today I've stuck to my goals to the letter.
I read all my notes this morning and then read a bunch of hand evaluations at the forum. I've also been getting better and better results at the ICM trainer. I feel I played quite well today, and I also made some very good reads at the beginning of the session.
Despite all the good work ♦ I'm down 10 BI. I only got to heads up three times and lost to a run of bad beats in every one. That's a loss of 6BI
I seem to have a tendency to run into monsters or have dominated hands at the bubble and push/fold phase. When it's an obvious shove with A8s or A9s I run into AK or AQ.
The good news is that I didn't tilt at all. I was like 'yeah whatever let's get on with it'. What I must address now is a slight decline in good mood and concentration with every bad beat/cooler.
Things will turn around. I feel it. Yes they will get better.. much better... right? Right????
Dear diary, I am trying really hard to
2. Keep playing an A-game while Lady luck is kicking me in the b****
I have some good news today
I spent this morning studying and then spent the rest of the day out with my girlfriend. A break from the laptop is really healthy btw!
Tonight I received an email from Everest saying that I am eligible for a bonus ♦ I think it's for player loyalty or something like that. Anyway it's for $50 so even if I get unlucky on the tables, I have something to look forward to. I think I can earn the points for it by end of August.
I am really, really enjoying learning the strategy and it's slowly starting to click. Tomorrow I have a day off so I'll be reading and studying the last few Silver articles. Looking forward to it!!
See you ladies later
You can download an application to resize the tables and probably play 6 or 8 but traffic is a problem. The software isn't too bad but lacks a lot. I'll probably move room when I get a bigger br.
I can't believe how persistent this shitty run is. I've just finished a session and always lost on the bubble or heads up. A couple of first places would have made me a profit instead.
I think I played my best most of the time; actually I think that in general I'm playing better than ever since I'm taking the studying seriously but I don't know how much more I can take. I have 64 buy ins left, if I lose them that will be it I guess.
Anyone else going through something like this??
I am now also a student of BSS! Why not? Poker strategy is offering a new course for beginners and this must be the best way to get into it. Wish me luck
These are my answers for the questions posed as Homework number 1:
Question 1: What is your motivation for playing poker?
Poker strategy fascinates me. It's amazing to me how intricate and in depth the thinking during a game needs to be. Poker is not just a card game and obviously it is not gambling - It's an intellectual game where people are put to the test and where the most disciplined, the most in control emerge winners. Coupled with the promise of money, what's not to like?
edit: And the black membership tailor-made suit!
Question 2: What are your weaknesses when playing poker?
I can be very result-oriented. I look at my bankroll way to often while I'm playing and I think this loosens my concentration.
I also get angry at bad beats sometimes, but for the bigger part this is in control.
Question 3: What does it mean to play tight-aggressive?
It means that only a narrow selection of hands are played - the ones that have a (much) more than average chance of getting value. This means that you'd have easier decisions post-flop and avoid marginal situations which are either difficult to play or just plain unprofitable.
Playing aggressive means that you consistently take the lead in the hand by betting/raising rather than checking/calling. It works because you are constantly forcing the opponents to make decisions, sometimes tough ones, and induce mistakes. Also, passive play relies on showdown to win while aggression takes advantage of fold equity.
The first coaching is in an hour - can't wait!
you got question 1 wrong, it should be
"my motivation for poker is the black member's tailor made suit."
nice try tho ♦

You're right. I fixed my post
I have a strong feeling I really played badly today
maybe I was on tilt?
Posted a thread about it; maybe gets a discussion going:
Hey Roo it's going goooood
I'm pretty much done with Silver articles for Sngs. Will finish the moshman book in a couple of days then will turn to BSS to prepare for the next coaching.
And I'm going to be gold in a day or two
You?
I feel robbed.
I get called holding the better hand and keep losing to 3 outers heads up.
Cost me at least 20 Buyins so far which I should have won.
Feels like all the effort is worthless.
Sucks.

all things are good here, still playing mss with good results and looking forward to moving to bss
Not amusing. At all. This guy raised every hand, called every AI and always went to showdown. This is at the bubble. I call with the intention of shoving his raise which he will obviously call.

that was an 60/40 situation.I know is cruel. In micros you will see a lot of these bad beats but try to play your best.Imo you should decide whether to play sng or cash and focus 100% on it.You cant learn cash and play sngs or visa versa. Moreover you played the hand very poorly imo.Raise preflop.I dont like your line here because there are tons of pairs that the villain would have played like this and obviously he calls your all in.Anyway i wish you the best of luck
I agree it's a raise usually. But this guy's range is 100%. I'm not exaggerating. Maybe 95/98%
Thanks for your suggestion. I realize it's hard and takes time but I'm just going to try and learning the very basic of BSS. Maybe it helps my sng game in the long run.
