keeping AT, AJ, AQ ... draws etc in ...
he is a fish, so whatever betsize u use, Ax is NEVER folding. FD is NEVER folding.
that having in mind, i like starting flop by overbetting. i wanna build a pot with a hand that is clearly ahead of his range. if he folds, he didnt have much. thats ok. ofc u maybe fold out 88, 99 on the flop or 7x if u overbet. but im not even sure. ofc those hands call 2/3 flop bet. anyway, fishy ppl like limping suited cards (so he could have a fd) and Ax (so he could have tp)
my plan would be overbet flop and bombing most turns. value value value
as played its a tough spot without any reads and table dynamics. but ive definitely seen fish overplay AQ here. problem by the river, only diamond fd is busted and many Ax have 2 pair now. if u write down hand combos, i think a big problem by the river is also that many flop fd have now a pair by the river and u block KdQd and KdJd which sucks quite a bit. other fd have pairs so often and we dont know if he always bluffs his pairs as well
flop fd would not c/c and c/r turn usually, so we can discound most diamond combos anyway. Td9d or 6d5d makes a lot of sense, but i would expect a bigger turn c/r.
if he rly wants to overplay his AQ, he would already c/mr flop probably. doesnt make sense in his eyes to c/c and c/r turn with AQ if he thinks its strong here
turn could easily make him 2pair (87, A8) or he could already have A2 or 22.
once in a while he floats flop with KsQs, JsTs, QsJs etc those hands also beat u @ river.overall, call me a nit ... but i b/f turn. if we overbet flop + turn, i would not necessarily say so cuz by overbetting we often put our opponents in push/fold scenario. in this case we dont and i just dont think we are good here often enough and calling turn + river is rly optimistic
c/c flop and c/r turn still is a strong line, we shouldnt forget that.
maybe i got too weak in such spots in nlhe cuz i play so much plo. but even if, i think being on the weak side is ok. just play another 10 hands vs this guy and u have his moniez anyway. i think u will see better spots than this one on the turn (river)
Lol, didnt saw you post this when i replied.
I think overbetting looks weird and fish could say "hes trying to push me out of the pot, watch this ♠_evil: " so i like your line very much.
Villain had JJ ffs, can you see any logic? Maybe the possibility for villain to play irrationaly can make turn and river call +ev. This type of shit happens every time with mtts
I still get pumped like a fish when I play $300+ pots ![]()
Thank you for doing this, reading all strategy comments
ofc no logic in him having JJ. on paper, i still like folding a bit more. cuz if i count reasonable hand combos, u dont get the right price on the river imo. but as i always say, im not the biggest fan of analysing hands on paper. its all about metagame, timing, history and table dynamics. i def find myself calling or even raising turns here if i think he is full of shit. if i dont think so, i rather take the save way out and fold
Twicet, if we overbet flop, bet biig turn, we could shove river. Is that the plan, betting for value your whole stack if villain ch/c (especially if he ch/c really fast)?

yes sir!!!!!!!
i bet 28 on flop and on turn we have ~ 75 in the pot. he has 190 left. i bet 94 on turn and usually get him to shove his whole range he wants to continue. if he folds. so be it. we lost a bit of value vs his weak range that could call 2/3 F and T bets. but vs Ax and fd range we maximise vs fish imo.

@alverine's hand:
Really like your thinking here and i like the overbet - thing that i dont do but will.
Quick question though:
Lets say that we stack off the fish and he rebuys and same situation arise again. What would be your line? Bc i guess even a fish will remember that we overbet big with TPTK. Would you go for a more std bet like 3/4 (still big) or just do it again?.
And following this would you ever use this as a bluff after having stacked off the fish before?

i would overbet again same spot.
cuz: recreational plrs are capable of thinking. and he will be thinking on level 2 now. we cannot say fish are brainless beings. so he will imo think level 2 and say, "aaah, he tries do that the same shit again. but obv now he doesnt have it. i call down even lighter now!"
he wont be thinking level 3 though "aah, he knows i think he wont do it again with value hands ..."
to your overbet bluff question. said that, in his whole range are also hands that have nothing and almost nothing, that would fold. i would not overbet pure bluffs, but strong draws (oc+fd, pair+gs, fd+gs)
but most important here: i only do it to get overbet metagame going with him and i only do it on streets were overbetting is cheap. so i happily overbet 27 into 19 on flop. but i dont bet 217 into 131 on the river. u get it.
and later on in the session, i will use the overbet metagame to my favour and bust his account. epic winning!

im testing out limping behind rly bad TT-KK lately. dunno if iso raising or limping on CO or BU is rly better. i thought iso raising is the way to go, but lately i like limping. great stuff happens rly often.
on the river, he called within 2 nano seconds in a spot where he clearly reps AQ and i my bluff frequency with sets/fd is around 0%. nh sir!

Do you think a lot has changed last 2 years at NLHE?

I slept everyman (3naps) for a while, but it's very hard to maintain if you live in college, so many parties
Fwiw this guy slept "Dymaxion" (2 hours a day) for 2 years and he lived 88 years so I don't think there is "big" negative effect longterm if you try it.

what do you think about coaching a group? or do you prefer 1 on 1 coachings?
what should i do/prepare for a session as the coach?
and what do you think about c/r or c/shove the river if you know that the villain bets more for thin value?
a simple question for you. a very good guy opens from btn and you are in BB w/ AQs. you know that he is 4betting light. is it profitable to 3b/5bshove it or not? or would you call it pre and c/r alot of flops?
a very tough question for you, sir. would you teach me how to beat nl1k someday?

hm, as the coach u dont have to prepare anything. just trashtalk for one hour and get the moniez ...
na, just make sure u have all the latest software (skype, tv, mikogo) and a good mic. it sucks if ppl are not prepared for coaching sessions.
but ofc, the student has to prepare way more. questions, hands etc etc he has to do everything he can to make max use of the coaching timelooooooooool, so obv u gonna ask that. yeah ofc, if ppl vbet light vs u, u can c/shove a lot, but dont forget that ppl will adapt sooner or later and start calling all your bottom pair c/r ♦
if i know for sure he 4b light i 3b/5b AQs happily. if not i call and c/r many flops as u said.
hahaha, if u book a coaching, i might
but im def stronger on plo1k than on nl1k these days. i just play 10 times more plo atm.
but if i played one month nlhe exclusively, i might get my game back on track. i just dont think i will anytime soon. hu > all in nlhe. and plo is the game, so i dont plan on playing all that much nlhe sh in the near future@ alverine: yeah, imo a lot has chanded in nlhe last years. esp aggression levels on all streets. 2 years ago 3b light was new and cool. 1 year ago 4b bluffing became the new hype. now we see cold4b and river c/r turning made hands into bluffs .... ppl got down the basics, now its a lot more about adapting to every single opponent as best as we can
ty for the quick answer! ![]()
alright im gonna book a coaching someday for plo HU and NL HU... we're gonna have fun crushing those ppl ♠_biggrin:
btw.. did u start playing plo SH or HU? as i said in facebook... yes it was plo LOOOL but happily it was only plo50 and some plo100 rofl
i think for my future ill give HU the shot and never look back ^^
