As you can see I have BSS school's badge, also had registered for BSS beginner's course which is available for all member of this community :), though don't think I'll graduate this time, because I have lack of motivation for it when material's pretty much the same as in the BSS school, also uni started, have some tough lectures this semester, so I feel like loosing time with it.

However, this school's idea and also graduation inspired me to keep learning and focus on my game improvent more than on robotic grinding. With saying that I'm loosing time with BSS course, I don't mean that studying poker strategy, analysing your game is useless and you should grind all the time. I just think that it's time to kinda create my own personal school for myself, where I would organise subjects that I should learn/give more attention, at last keep tracking my progress. :)

Thus, idea behind this is:

Every week I open notepad/word etc. and set goals for that week, write down learning subjects, copy/paste all the links of videos, articles, columns that I should watch/read. Will start with general topics as preflop, postflop game and then will go deeper every next week. Usually, will try to find as much material as I can related with my leaks.

Goals should look like this:

:diamond: x amount of hands per week(theory to practice is important!)
Though, volume wouldn't be that hard to achieve by 6 tabling(I think got my best game with enough action when 6 - 9 tabling)
:diamond: review after x amount of hands/after x sessions

In addition:
:diamond: Look at wininngs/losses only once a week(will save weekly graphs in word document probalby)
:diamond: Will track how my stats changes while sample size grows. Expect to find some leaks from stats also
:diamond: Always think about improvement not volume/winnings. Try to think in amount of BB's and not $$$.

There's no $$$ making in the micros!!!

My discipline sucks. That's a nice phrase to start with.

Last time I posted about my so called "personal" school, tried to motivate myself and reach my goals step after step disciplined. However, MY DISCIPLINE SUCKS.

Well ok, started this week not so bad: watched couple of videos, read few articles, grinded nice amount of hands and then stopped. Even looked at my results. :f_mad:

Actually, all story about my "poker studies" looks like a one big lie for me. Did that with no concentration, no big pleasure or will, no discipline(first sentence again). Acting like I do not want to climb up the stakes and add some good money for my living expenses. Such a lazy fat **.

Maybe this list of things will let me get on track:

  • Underestimating regs, basically every player at NL5/NL10. Everyone is fish for me during a session, though I'm still a fish myself.
  • Too much results oriented. Checking my results like every 5-10mins during sessions and counting how many buy-ins I need to move up. WTF?!
  • Downswings or bad plays(it's always fish fault) put me on tilt too easily, can't stop playing on time, though loosing 1-3 additional BI's.
  • Lost sessions makes me lazy, no normal volume or poker next few days, just fat lazy ** laying on couch.
  • Crying to much about being breakeven/loosing, being too happy during heaters and forgetting about improvement. Basically, it's like this - grind -> loose -> whine, cry, whine -> grind -> nice upswing -> "me crushing those fishes" -> grind -> loose -> breakeven -> whine, cry, fml.

Let's see will I change these things in couple of months.

Your journey only begins, I've beaten nl2 like 3 times on different sites, though still have same problems.

Just finished a nice session, 2 BI up. Again about results, and yeah checked them multiple times during my session, that's why managed to fold trips on the river against minbet on dry board haha. Sick! :f_biggrin: :f_biggrin: Of course now thinking that I'll loose 2BI tomorrow to be breakeven as usual.

That's the problem! Need to work with my thoughts, my mind, set myself for crushing not for loosing.

Will try to write my goals on paper, poker and rl also, for this month, maybe for 3 months. The key is to consider it well and make it achievable, concentrate to important things. Hope not to post something like "finish September with x bb winrate".

Good night!

Didn't play today, didn't study also. Will change this next week. It's time to look at poker seriously. ;)

About today:

finished reading all parts 'My somewhat different poker story' that are posted so far on 2+2. Like reading it, thoughts are expressed really well (I never will express myself like that in english), besides find some parts kinda motivating, although it's pretty much a story of degen gambler. :f_biggrin:

Also watched two basketball matches today. Eurobasket2011 taking place at the moment in our country. We reached quarterfinals few minutes ago by winning against Germany. Basketball is second religion here, so almost everyone's kinda crazy about it. :) Biggest sport event here of all time!

Furthermore, thought what goals should I set for myself, how could I reach them and stay disciplined all that time. So ended up with these:

-> Poker goals <-

-> Review each session. At least biggest pots. <-
-> Look for leaks after 10k/20k/... using my database. Database doctor series by BogdanPS should help here. <-
-> Start taking notes about articles/videos. <-
-> Read and listen as much useful material as I can find about mindset. <-
-> Write my thoughts as thoroughly as I can when posting a hand in judge forums. Maybe I made a good decision with a bad reason. <-
->...

-> RL goals <-

-> Buy a printer. The old one's not working anymore and it sucks to read through monitor. Real books ftw! <-
-> Start going to a gym, do some sports. Lazy fish looks better than fat lazy fish. <-
->...

Hope to crush my tables soon and play at NL10 again in no time.

Good luck to everyone.

Salut mes amis!

Didn't post here for a long time, almost for 2 months. Actually, had no news about my poker adventures since made a long break. Basically haven't been playing since the last update. At least completed one goal - bought a new printer . Had some other things to do over this period also hadn't "the mode" of grinding, just lost addiction to poker. Didn't want to force myself to grind, so forgot about poker.

Now I'm back and ready to build my bankroll, learn and crush this game. During this pause away from poker, my will to study and improve came back. These last days of October will be some kind of warmup, will try to get back on track and then put nice volume on November. It should be grinding month.

Won't set goals, cause you can see I almost always fail with them. My one and only goal should be:

Don't stop improvin'

Will obviously concentrate more on studying. Found few threads/videos about poker studies system: which parts should be more important, how to get a maximum from articles/videos/discussions. Now it's all I got to do - put it all in practice. Will inform how it goes :). Also I need to improve quality of posts that I publish here. So far it looks like catching the wind in a net - just bumping this thread.

See you soon! ;)

Haha, really... Solid updating here - one post each month :f_biggrin:.
Couldn't call November "grinding month", played only 10k hands. That's really poor. On the other hand spent much more time reviewing my hands and studying. I mean, never reviewed that much... Also played a bit with equities in Equilab, it should help me determine approximate equities when playing. Noticed that majority of my calls that I thought were breakeven or slightly negative, actually ended up being +EV. That's nice. The most funny hands were those where I tilted. So crazy and idiotic moves :f_biggrin: .

Ok, to sum up November: 10k hands and -2 stacks.

Started December optimistically. Already had my first session which was splited to two parts, 1h15mins each. Decided not to open a lot of tables. Usually was playing 8-10 tables last couple of months. Today played on 4-6 tables. 1 stack up, though 3 stacks below EV, ehh.. :) It's still nice however, since I usually play on tilt when running below EV - it means my aces got pwned by some random crap. Well, it actually happened today. Went all-in on KJx against a 61/50 maniac and he spiked a J on the river, but in the end of session I left him with 1$ :f_biggrin: and poor guy started pushing all-in every hand preflop then. Proud of myself, didn't tilt, well maybe lost 1 stack when wasn't completely calm.

This day was crazy for AA. Saw bullets in someone's hands maybe 10 times and they won maybe 2. 80% aces lost when went all-in preflop or on the flop. Sick :f_biggrin:. Good that I got kings more often that aces today. Haha.

Hope will have a good month and fulltilt will make a little Christmas&New-Year present ;)
