Reading your posts TLN makes my world brighter. It's good to reflect and sometimes that will get you low, sometimes high. Impressed by your dilligence and plan for improving your DS game. Guess that's how you got that great. Finally a maybe silly question: you said you had watched some of Steve Jobs lectures. Have you studied programming or was the lectures about a positive mindset, economy or something else? I'm hoping all will go well for you!

Best Wishes

-"I never go to the class reunions. The people there are so old".

Edit: Gr8 tip 1984! Your post wasn't there when I posted. Awesome video, Steve Jobs seems like an awesome man (I beleive in an afterlife, hence the presence term). Also, its just rather easy insights really, at least should be. Still, gr8 inspiration for me. He shared the  there :).

If you look up to him alot mate and your feeling down then this is a pretty inspiring but also important message.Hope you feel better.Depression can be lethal. If you feeling down take some excercise rather then moping around the place.Nice blog as well.

Depression is a common state, since nowdays world is tearing apart almost everybody. If you feel that way frequently, you should concider medical help. I know how depression can ruin lives. It can last for years, and makes you less productive and misserable. Some people are just more sensitive and it makes them lock them self into the box, from wich they can't escape easy. I don't know if that is the case with you, but I need to mention that.

can you explain that to me? why "nowadays"? dont you think every generation has the same starting position (relatively speeking ofc)?
it is a state of mind, right? some synapses have some negative energy/thoughts in their pipelines (lol or so )

in my fishy non medical mind I always think I can outplay those states of mind. but i heard some doctors talk about that its not possible to "outplay" depression without medical help. why is that? I absolutely dont wanna believe that.

ofc everybody goes through hard times and is depressed regularly. but the time we got on this planet is so short anyway, I dont wanna get fucked by those negative moods so i just go kung fu panda style with them.

tln, if u wanna get some mon-medical advice or just wanna chat, u can always msg me in skype ;)

don't wanna go too much off topic but I agree with TT. Whoever says it's not possible to tackle without medical help is wrong. Ofc, that's only my personal opinion but i don't speak without experience.

I wish you well TLN, feel better soon.

Here's a little something, hope it manages to make u feel better, if only for a second! :f_love:

When I get depressed, I stop being depressed and become awesome instead. True story.

Seriously, depression is IMO a state of mind, I agree there with TwiceT. As such we should be able to get out of that state of mind and into another. However, we should also be able to not tilt while playing poker, or when our football club concedes a goal, and most of us just isn't able to do so.

With that in mind, psychiatrist is an option. However, I myself will never allow anyone poking around with my brain. A lot of important stuff going on in there, of which we (the human kind) know nothing about, and I'm not letting anyone play around in there.

Because nowadays you have a ton of informations, that can cause complete mess in your brain. Evolution is a slow and steady process, and technology/information in few last decades has grown more than our brain proceed. Our brain is struggling to select what we need to store in our head, and to forget the other stuff. That is not a simple task, since today you can "google" in a secound something that generations before us had to search in a libraries over significantly longer time.

Depression is common today. Some people are more likely to be depressed, some others not. That is individual. It is caused by chemical supstances called neurotransmiters, that transfer signals/informations in our brain. Mostly serotonine and noradrenaline. You can do some things to make you feel happier like food, sex, exercise, meditating... Sometimes that is just not enough. Some people feel sleepy and without any focus. You can feel most of days without strenght and willingness to do anything.

in my fishy non medical mind I always think I can outplay those states of mind. but i heard some doctors talk about that its not possible to "outplay" depression without medical help. why is that? I absolutely dont wanna believe that.

Some people can, some others can not. Most of people can't do without medical help. There is not clear line here. Also, depression itself has some levels. It is not equal at every person. I'm not talking about tratment with drugs only. Drugs help people to "cross bridge". Without working on yourself, there is no long term recovery.

ofc everybody goes through hard times and is depressed regularly. but the time we got on this planet is so short anyway, I dont wanna get fucked by those negative moods so i just go kung fu panda style with them.

It's not like every difficult moment in life causes depression. Depression is a clinical state that has bunch of clinical signs and symptoms. However, if ones mood is significantly bad over longer period, it can cause you to loose years of your life in tearms of quality. I am telling this exactly because we are here for a limited time, and it is worst if you loose best yeras of your life and when you grow old you ask yourself: What a fuck I did with my best days? That is exactly the wisdom old people have-they know that they missed something and they can't roll back time. Young people won't listen to them. Most of us must grow old to be that "smart". Most of us must hit our heads into wall to see that it hurts.

You sound like you really need to have a religion to be happy, but you're probably too intelligent to take on something like that

The way i see it we're all given some unknown amount of time, and while there's no greater purpose with it we can still make ourselfes feel good in a number of ways. So really you should just live the way you think makes you feel the best. And don't fear death.

No, you don't need a religion to be happy, but it doesn't hurt either to belive in some higher purpose. Some people find a religion very helpfull, some others don't. I'm fine with both.

We should make ourselves feel great, not good, but somethimes that is just not possible. Some people can't find that trigger to blast away their bad thoughts. Most of are fears are fears of life itself, not death. That exactly is the biggest problem imo to live fulfilled life.

I'd settle for calling it a stance on religion, and it applies accurately.

Since Richard Dawkins started writing books about it :P
The way he goes on and on you almost start believing it like a religion.

Personally i have no truck with any of that kind of stuff, prefering to just live my life and keep my sundays free for lay ins :)

Good point that every generation probably has similar levels of depression rates and limits etc and that it is all comparative but i reckon that people nowadays are more depressed.Education is probably one of the reasons as well. The more people know and think (deep thoughts etc.) the more negative it becomes imo.

There was the Great Depression in the 20/30s so people have experienced the whole financial turmoil, traders jumping off buildings times but now that the world has become more interlinked, pressures are greater and stress has become one of the major killers which would be backed up by most doctors.

I reckon in generations well gone now that yes there was stress etc but in general most of the popuation was generally happy and once the basic needs were met then life was good.

Peer pressure and other ones like that have increased so i reckon depression is on a bigger scale then before and that is before we take alcohol and drugs into consideration.
