Villain here is 41/0 w/20% donk-bet stat after 30 hands, kinda passive postflop.

I was tempted to raise the flop here but there are very few hands I *crush* and would be happy to get it in with given the board co-ordination, so I decided to wait for a turned 2p/trips to get it in and give up on bad cards.

The J is kinda in-between and given there are 2 fds I wimped out on a semi-bluff raise to fold out weak two-pair, although is putting him on a weak 2p that will fold to a raise & some times 98** on the turn a good analysis? I was very tempted. In the end I decided to play fit or fold.

With a FD to go with it I think it's more or less a no-brainer w/40% against 98**.

He comes in for a tiny bet again so I figure combination wise he simply has far more 2-pairy hands that made it to the river than clubs here. He's betting tiny again which doesn't convince me that he has the NFD.

Is this a good river raise and if so is my betsizing good? My rationale was that I thought I'd have decent fold equity against 2pairs no matter if I raise 10 or 15 so I might as well escape with some of my stack here if he does have it.

With hindsight it seems like we have so little behind anyway I might as well shove to maximise FE and get maximum value when I have got the flush myself.

These are very frustrating players to play against as it's often impossible to work out what they have.

I think you should treat the 75 cent bet on the flop as a check. If you would cbet this flop, then bet what you normally would here. If you would check (which isn't a very good option here, then just call).

I think I raise this flop to $6 . Since I picked up a bunch of outs on the turn, if villain checks to me i'm probably jamming here since I really don't expect him to show up with 89 and I can always just dog him on the river with 13 cards to make a straight.

Yeah I'd normally bet pretty big on this flop, I'll treat future tiny bets as checks.

What do you think about the river play?

I like it against anyone who isn't an idiot. I think this guy is an idiot however.

Against non-idiot I probably raise a bit more though, maybe to $13. Two straights hit by the river, if I had a strong flush I would want to win more when I get called so I don't see myself only raising to $10.

i gotta disagree with Ribbo. A good player would realise how much his bet looks like a blockbet and thus calls it off seeing as he's induced a raise (or maybe not, depends on meta) but a bad player sees how much money you've raised to, thinks about how bad his two pair is now (and it's almost always two pair when he sizes it so small on the river), thinks how many hands beat him, and folds.

A good player also realises that anyone with the nuts raises big here because it's obvious there is a good chance of getting paid off.

A bad player calls because he looks at the strength of his own hand and realises it could be a winner. Also a bad player is never betting 2 pair on this river, it's always a straight minimum here. Bad players are generally scared of things hitting and tend to check/call way too much.

regardless of whether he has a straight or two pairs, the reason he bets so small is because he believes his hand could be beat. for the same reason he will then fold to a raise. i'm ok with sizing it bigger against a good player but honestly i just don't see too many good players make TRUE blockbets these days. it happens but they're more balanced usually.

I've also seen a huge bunch of bad players bet small with very strong hands in the same spot. The guy bet small on the flop, turn and river.

If he had 2 pair, then he would know on the flop it's a strong hand, yet he still bets small. Likewise on the turn.

No, what the guy is more likely to show up with here is a draw that has improved, but is not the nuts. I can't see him folding, it seems to be that villain just doesn't understand how much he should be betting, and these are dangerous people to be bluffing as they could be betting their entire range so weakly here (and I think a lot of his range isn't folding to a raise).
