bit on the loose side without reads. QQ+ is easy shove in this situation at my limits.

i imagine at lower limits this is a shove though

If you thaught you had fold equity you should've raised to ~t1200 and not go almost all-in, because if you go all-in only better hands will call (normally).
So in this situation I would've raised to t1000 and if there would be a reraise i would fold, and if villains would just call I would've folded to any raise on other streets because of those A and K on the flop.

sry have to disagree wholeheartedly with your play marivs. the only other play would be raise 1200/call, to induce worse hands to try buy the pot.

also, there's the issue that you lose half your stack in what could be AKo reraising you.

for me though, it's push or fold preflop quite easily into the "strong" bet and the call

if you were happy to take coin flip against the big stack push and maybe he has only rag A

hard to put the BU on a hand or know what he is doing and would only make sense if he had a very big pocket pair

I would push or fold and it would depend on what read I got on the big stack

I see what you mean... I have to admit I'm still quite a noob when it comes to poker especially tournament play. I just imagined how I would feel with a hand like JJ in his position and what I would do... But it's still better to lose a half of a stack than the whole thing

I'd rather lose half my stack than half my fold equity.

And it's a tough one. Blinds are high enough for push or fold mode especially with the raises but UTGs stack seems too big to make a move here. I think I would of pushed too but looking at it here and thinking about it makes me think folding might be a better option. The blinds are still pretty low, your stack is good and you have no real need to get involved here with a stack that can end your tourney.

Bad shape vs AA, KK and QQ. Coinflip vs AK, AQ and KQ.

I look forward to unams evaluation.

well that's what i'm saying, if the bigstack is quite LAG (yet will lay down hands like AQo here), then i can reshove this.

if he's pretty solid, then i can fold this.

but i don't see myself calling preflop here with JJ in a multiway pot

Hero has 24 BB and UTG raises. I would put UTG on two over cards at least. 24 BB is enough to let this one go and wait for QQ+/AJ+

note: this is if the tournament is a standard blinding tournament. if it's a "turbo" (blinds increasing rapidly) ignore above and push all in preflop I think.

sorry, just looked at it again. button flat calls the raise too. Hero is invested 50 into the pot against two other opponents, easy fold.

again, ignore in rapidly increasing blinds tournie

i don't differentiate when changing structures. the fact of the matter is, your push will win you x amount of chips outright y% amount of the time. and x is just too damn small at the moment to do it with JJ IMO

You should , with turbo it suits push/fold (ICM) players and the ones that cant play down the streets ,

With normal 10/15 min's blinds you dont want to play Js against 3 or 4 over cards and could wait for better position

dont know what level buy-in but would imagine it is low because of the BB play

10/15 mins blinds on a 9/10 seat sng? Where do you find these?

Pokerstars do 10 min's blinds for 9 player sng
PartyPoker do 10 min's blinds for 10 player sng
Titan do 9 min's blinds for 10 player sng
UniBet/microgamming do 12 min's for 10 player sng
FullTilt 6 min's blinds last about the same amount of time as these other sng

all these have a lot more play than the turbo sng and suit a more solid player's

not wanting to get into a full discussion here, but how do you define a more solid player? one that likes to show off his postflop play? or one that prefers a higher winrate?

All ICM tell you to push or fold and with longer blind the sharks will find you out and trap you

If you play a big deepstack tourneys you will find that a lot of good cash players will do well because they have the patience to wait and play big hands and know how to out play players down the streets

These turbo sng are a great way to build a bankroll because of the number of bad players but they dont teach you to play proper poker

I disagree. ICM hammers equity and statistics into your brain which is always, always gonna be valuable. And I've heard a lot about late bubble play in a MTT being pretty much loose ICM.

Poker isn't black or white, but I'm sure I don't have to tell you that.

put a pure cashgame player into an 9/10-player sng with 60min blinds and i think i have a very nice edge against them

Sry I can't answer this without reads, it is push vs good players and vs fish, but what to do with semi good players depends very much on how loose the stealraise.
