Tell us your 2012 poker goals & you could win an iPad 2

Hi all,
It all started when I was a kid. All I wanted in life was a fast and loud super car. When I turned 20, I realized that I still wanted the same. I was going into my last year of college and I realized I was not rich enough and I never will be to afford a super car for myself. Here a guy who gets out of college with a gold medal gets into a job that pays max.10K/year. Tbh, for a guy to earn a 3000$/month salary it would take aleast 35years of age provided he's a workoholic. Forget playing poker along with a day job.
So I was wondering how am I even gonna make enough money to buy $200k worth of dreams?? I thought about it for a while when I was staring at my facebook profile and then ignored it and I started playing zynga poker like I normally would after coming back from college.( That time I knew how 2 play poker and thought it was like monopoly, playing with play money but can't be played with real cash). I still remember that evening when I was staring at my FB poker account balance which had 20Million+ at that time. I wished it was all real money.
Then I googled and found out that poker could be played with real cash. After a couple of days of research I finally found out that I can deposit 20$ min. into a netller account and play. So I created a neteller account and deposited 20$ and chose everest poker(after research) which offered freerolls for signing-up with min. deposit of 10$. I deposited 10$ into my everest account out of 20$. That evening I searched for the lowerst buy-in game and registered in the 1$ "chip and chair" and to my surprise I shipped it for 50$.I remember folding dozen of hands in a row 2 get into the FT for a couple of $$s more for 9th place.I remember entering the FT with <1BB (not making this up).
The next day I played in the 10k depositors free roll and finished in ~15th place for 60$. So I made ~110$ from 10$ in 2 days. I then withdrew the 10$ I deposited and trying 2 do the same, I lost it all in the next few months.
I got 50$ from PS a couple of months back and my BR stands @ ~250$ as of now.Now I have finished college and have decided to chase my dream. I have planned to play poker full time. My parents are cool with it too.
This may look a bit unrealistic now to think about buying a car for 200K when my BR is at 250$, but I think I could do it playing poker (doing what I love) than doing anything else and I like my chances I'm planning to do it before turning 30.
I'm playing the 5.50$ DoNs in Pacific right now.
So here I present my goals:

Goals for 2012

I have decided to make my goals volume based rather than monetary goals.
Play 25k+ DoN in 2010. (I'm a beginner and am only 2 tabling now).
Hopefully have a BR of $15k + and start playing MTTs by the end of 2012.
Ship a sunday million soon. ♠_cool:

study much more poker than i do now.
be a winning reg at atleast NL100.
and last one that i doub't ill complete, but will try rly hard to achieve it is to get this one

- win 100k
- 10bb/100 winrate
- learn plo
- get the best mindset ever

people that have no plans and goals are losers

i would love to get to the 35$ 180s and 45s at stars, currently at 8$ 180s and 7$ 45s, i also play a little bit of cash games FR or SH, i think i can beat NL25, so i would love to improve there as well and also to improve my MTT game as well, so there is a lot of work to be done, those would be my goals for 2012, but what is important is how i want to achieve them, recently i have moved back from germany to serbia, trained there as sponsored tennis player, and when i came back, i though, ooh cool, now i will have a ton of time for poker, but as time passed i realized that i lost my balance, i think i got even depressed with doing much less sports than i am used to, and had a rollercoaster relationship with what is from today my ex, so that all slowed me very much down, but i think everybody is learning from their mistakes... so my BIGGEST goals are:
be organized and disciplined
live a healthy and balanced lifestile
learn on daily basis
keeping my blog which i started already and failed till now to post there regulary

so ive set goals where i wanna get, but ive also set goals how i wanna get there, i really hope that i will succeed!! GL everyone

i mostly have too many goals and want to reach then like right now! i realised that if i'm not so goal orieneted i have more enjoyment from playing, i play more hands /month + i'm always playing my A game + i'm going to read that article on xyz because i really want to know, not because i feel i have to, works much better for me + don't need another job. if i'm playing NL10 for the money then i'm really wasting my time.

For 2012 my motto will be "less quantity, more quality" :diamond:.

I want to play fewer hands but hopefully a couple of stakes higher. To achieve that overall goal I need to work on some intermediate goals:

Beyond 2012 goals: one day become a coach. I am a lecturer in law and just love teaching, thus I enjoy coaching a lot. I've been working towards that by doing some mentoring and in becoming a hand judge; in 2012 there is not much more I can do towards that than to keep working, and keep working hard. By dedicating myself to these "side" activities of mentoring and hand judging hopefully I will:

:heart:Well, my biggest goal for 2012 is to finally finish UNI. And yes, it is poker related, because when I do, I'll have a lot more time to play!

Other than that...
:diamond:for now I think improving and moving up the limits in 18man turbos on stars is my main poker goal. That may change if I get bored and try a different game format (it happened before...).
:diamond:maybe try achieving supernova on stars if I find enough time to grind (well will see, when FTP comes back I will need to rethink it again, depending promos/bonuses they would offer ♦)

My story could be interesting and inspiring for some, but it's hard for myself..

I'm 18 years old guy from small town in Serbia, and as I'm just about to finish high-school I need to prepare myself for college..
And while every single one of my friends is currently prepairing for college, studying daily, what I do? I study poker! Okay, stop, before any of you starts flaming me and starts telling me I'm stupid and stuff, I'll take a second now to tell you all that I'm going to college as well, and will start preparing, it's just I don't see motivation in going to college..
And god, is it hard to succeed in something when you're confronted daily with everyone saying to you "playing poker is gambling. you have a problem.", "leave poker, go to college and get a normal job", those kind of things.. No one seems to understand me, and to be honest I kind of understand them, it's so taboo here to even think about making a living as a poker player.

But if they would take a second and actually hear what they're saying, they're funny actually.. Everyone is like - go to college, so that you can have a good-paying job. Rarely are the cases when someone has a desire to be, let's say, a "doctor" when he grows up, and now he's studying for a medical college. I respect them, I really do, you keep chasing your dream pal and you're going to be a big thing! Because he's not going to that particular college because of money, but he's motivated about it and as long as you're motivated and love what you're doing you can do some great things! Confucius once said, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."

But why is it so wrong that I've found something that I enjoy doing and the money I can be making from poker is like.. the most money I can ever hope from any college in my country even if I was the luckiest person in my country and got a highest paying job ever (disclamer: in my country) ^^.. I mean, the airline pilots in my country are earning 2000e/month and they're among the top paid jobs in Serbia..

So my goal for 2012 is to not lose motivation (as I didn't until now), continue playing serious poker and hopefully get to that level of proficiency that atleast I can pay rent by myself for the apartment when I go to college, in October 2012.. Ofcourse if at any point I make it so big in 2012 I'll re-evaluate on turn what to do with college..

Hi guys. I'm still pretty new at playing poker, but I'm really committed to improving. In the long term I simply want to get to the point where I am consistently winning. I know that sounds like a money goal, but it's not really. Implicit in reaching that goal is to improve both my knowledge and skill every single day. That means studying something related to poker EVERY day, and playing every day. I place more emphasis on studying since that is harder for me to motivate myself to do.

Now for 2012.

In 2011 I lost a lot of the time on single All-In hands, usually led by me. My first goal is to curb my overarching enthusiasm long enough in these hands to see the forest for the trees. I need to take a breath and analyze everything that has happened up to this point, analyze what my opponent MIGHT reasonably have, and make a considered decision with all the facts in hand. NOT, push my whole stack in just because it feels good.

My second goal is to learn from EVERY loss. If I lose a bigger hand, I need to stop and analyze it. Why did I lose? Was it purely chance? Did I come up on the wrong side of a calculated decision? Did I do everything right taking appropriate risks, or was there something that I should have seen that would have made me play it any differently. Losing hands and games is all a part of poker. But, every loss should also be a learning opportunity.
