Ok, time to sum up this little challenge

I have started on September 1st this year the challenge to gain supernova status on PokerStars, meaning I needed to collect 82,485VPPs. I was going to play strickly 9mans turbo and 15$ buyin. Things changed a little - I did play only 9mans, but I played some 7$, 30$ and also few regular speed ones, but it is only about 10% of the volume, so 90% were 15$ 9mans turbo (about equally KOs and standard). It means I did rake 14,997,35$.

Biggest volume I put on December with 4,360 games. Best month was November with over 4k in profit. I think I had some crysis on October when I did lot of studying, thinking, experimenting. I am aware of some mistakes I made coz of multitabling and basically coz of volume concentrating. But still I feel happy that I beat these games.

I did import every single hand into the new database in HEM, I did manually enter the righ buyins of KO sngs and requested HHs for some incompleted tournaments. So I am 100% sure about the volume, AV buyin, time and the results of standard sngs. I am also sure I did collect 1,000$ from stellar bonuses and almost exactly 3,000$ for FPPs value. It means 26,27% rakeback. I did earn some cash in Battle of Planets promotion, I hit few bucks in freerolls but also lost few there and there so there can be +-300$ somewhere, but that is a little deviance. Thing is that KOs are still not imported precisely and if I compare my cashout history and winnings + rakeback in HEM theres deviance of about 1,000-1,500$ so keep that in your mind

U can see I ran below the EV, but - who doesnt

But the exact number of what I did cashouted - what I won plus stellar plus FPPs value plus some BoP minus some cashgame, whatever - simply amount I did cashouted so we can calculate hourly and stuff:

12,030$
19,6$/hour
5,3% ROI

I consider this whole challenge as a great succes for me. Not only because of the profit - am very happy about that. But I started playing 9mans on February, played them till FT was shuted down with my bankroll for 36$ ones. I had to play 7$ at PS in July, had holidays on August and started thinking how to set the right goals on September. So I must keep on my minf that I play them for a short time and I didnt ever had a coach or something. This challenge made me believe in myself. After all these troubles with FT, when I felt I have everything under control and bum...now I believe I made myself a great position for the next year. Next year with nice rakeback. And what is super important for me - I have a huge sample of games to dig in. I can study and study and study and improve. I am looking forward to the next year, to January, to try play less tables again and improve my strategy so I can grind my ass up later again ♦

More of it will be in my next post where I ll sum up all the year - graphs from FT and PS included! Thn I ll set the goals for 2012.

Funny Sidenote: I found this blog because you appeared on my hud as a big looser ( -13K $) but you obv. had decent stats which made me curious and I found out its because of all the K.O. SNGs I wasnt too happy to have you at my tables after I found out !! ♦

Didnt play many 15s yet since I just moved up ( just started playing again after a 1 year break in nov with 70$ bankroll on the 1.50$s ), but I'll keep an eye on you when you are at my tables ♦

I have two Questions already in my first post on this blog . Do you take a different approach to the K.O SNGs or are you playing them the same way you play the normal SNGs?

Could you post your 15s graph without all the KO SNGs ?

For your questions - will post the graph today when I ll be adding 2011 summary post. And the aproach on KOs - I think I started playing them absolutely the same way, thn when u mix standard and KOs, u dont even have time do adjust so I didnt care...but obv at KOs higher stack should be a bigger advantage and there are many spots where u might be lighter (calls or shove) coz of the bounty...but I didnt do any math or so and it s evolving so as my aproach to sngs...

So I finally imported all the HHs into the HEM new database and I can sum up

2011 was crucial for me and my poker career. I started being pro April/May 2010 - since than it is my only income. I had profit but I was changing formats and networks and I knew I ll have to find out the format I ll be profitable in or I ll have to quit poker and find another job. So in January 2011 when Stars did remove double or nothing sngs what I was learning and trying to focuse on, I decided to switch to 9mans and learn them. I did have about 3/4 months plan to earn some money or quit poker - to ensure my family that it is worth it, u know. I also didnt want to struggle, like dont know what will happen next month, will we have the money and so on - so I always had enough money for few months and some exit strategy.

In February 2011 I started playing 9mans, regular speeds at FullTillt, 11$ was the buyin. I was running ok, learning, definitely beating the games. I earned some money and my very good poker friend helped me to move to 24$/36$. I started playing more turbo format, I did table select carefully, played about 8 tables at once. I had a decent run, things were going the right direction, but u know what happened - BF and thn FT shutdown. My roll and monthly winnings were gone. This was a big hit, I was crushed. I took few weaks and thn grab a power and move to PokerStars and started this blog. I played some 15$, some 7$, adjusting to antes, searching for regs, all this stuff. I had a nice start but thn I woke up with some swings...I realized that I wont be beating 9mans with some 10% ROI or so and that at 7$ buyin I wont make enough money. July and August were months when I was more thinking and planning thn playing. But a good thing went from it - the supernova challenge and another "last" shot to be a poker pro. Fortunately it went well, results are in post higher...

So this year was fine concidering profit. This year was great considering I didnt give up after what happened with FT. I found the work, something I love and I am willing to spend any time for it, am willing to study and grind. I seriously dont want to do anything else!!! I established myself as a winning player at 9mans turbo 15$ buyin. I reached SN status at Stars that gives me a solid background for next year.

Here is the graph for the year 2011 - FT and PS included, every single SNG is in it. Rakeback included but I have to add about 1200$ for FullTilt bonuses and about 1500$ for PS bonuses and for KOs. I also made around 1000$ at live poker. It means that in 2011 I made 23,000$. I am very very happy for it and am happy that I had this opportunity.

Looks like I matched my EV at the end of the year and I am about 4% ROI player. Considering I did not table select at all last 17-18k games I think it is a succes.
But I can demonstrate by another graph that without tableselecting these games are just super swingy and the profit isnt high...this is only 9mans turbo standard format last year on PS.

Last months I ensured myself that I can handle high volume and basically go for a rakeback. This is very important for me and calms me down - I believe when I need to I ll be able to grind my ass up - it gives me some space to experiment and study.

We are getting to the year 2012. I am going to play turbo 9mans and am going to learn how to effectively table select and still have some nice volume. My basic goal is to reach 200,000VPPs at PokerStars. That should give me almost 15,000$ as a rakeback. This is something that I can build on and that ensures me I ll be able to play the whole year even being almost BE. Ofcourse it wouldn be easy and I hope it wont happen but I need for me and my family. I obv have some savings and so on...
The profit goal is 45,000$. (Rakeback included). Depending on what limit of sngs I ll be playing I guess I ll have to play about 40k sngs next year. I hope it will be lower number coz I ll be able to play higher ones, but it isnt crucial for me. I want to play, reach my goal, hopefully find the way to nicely tableselect so I ll be able to play less and have more time for another things (poker or not poker related). Maybe I ll be trying 18mans and stuff, dont know, not in the first months...

I think this is it. Basic goals are set. Motivation is simply stay the pro, make some nice money to slowly build poker and non poker bankroll and have enough time for my georgeus family.

did you ever consider in playing 6 man turbos?if no why?In my opinion 6 max are way looser and the profits are more because in 6 max extremely loose fishes are tend to join

I am not sure if I agree with you. I dont have many experience with 6mans, so I cant judge. Might play some 6mans, 18mans - will see, but that requires some adjustments and it might badly affect my 9mans game - not sure really - so I would have to consult it with someone more experienced

Your goals for 2012 are quite similar to mine actually, stay pro (semi for me still) and take home about $50k. Good luck and maybe we will see each other at the tables if I do decide to move to Stars.

Depends on so many things, but it is possible if I ll be running bad that I will have to grind the 300k milestone, will see
