Hi all,

Interested in people's thoughts on this hand :

I got reads that mell is opening v wide (I've seen him open 56s with like 30bb from MP at 1/200). BB is a big fish so I think although I can profitably 3b pre it sucks cos I will get 4b some and can't call and I lose the fish, so I elect to call and c/shove some dry flops.

Call pre seems fine, c/f or OOP float the flop IMO, c/rai is super spewy and our equity is really bad. If I were in villain's shoes I would be calling most ace highs seeing as we rep absolutely nothing.

we rep absolutely nothing and would never c/rai a board like that with a strong hand.

why not shove pre against a player who openraise lose with the stacksizes here!
kq is a fine hand for that!

i would just 3bet shove pre and imo is bets play here with those stacks sizes in this kind of MTT with your reads
i would shove smth like(77-22, AJs-A2s, K6s+, Q7s+, J7s+, T7s+, 97s+, 87s, 76s, 65s, AJo-A2o, K8o+, Q8o+, J9o+, T9o, 98o) raise call AQ+,AQs+ 88+ and i wont be balansed at all (dont even think we should be) with those stack sizes in this spot with those reads

@chenny8888 we can rep 7x A2s/a3s, 44,55,,66,88,99 depending on our image and the way villain see us

btw i dont like c/rai on that flop, remeber our read is that villain open 56 before so ...

yes I know rep fuck al obv - but I honestly don't believe villian will call me without a pair - if he does hero me A high then obv its super super horrible because I do so shit vs those 32 combos of AQ/AK.

But if he doesn't then I messed around in pokerstove looking at ranges, and it looked about breakeven so yea and my ranges can be wrong so it can be losing, and if he calls AQ/AK very losing :f_biggrin:

I defo don't want to float, and the only other move is donking which i also hate so I think fit or fold is better once i call actually - but being the spewmonkey i am i couldn't resist

My real question here - is what do you think is more +EV preflop - to 3b shove (I don't really like ever 3b shoving 24bb even though it is +EV) or to call and get this fish in and play fit or fold.

yeah but i think key to see from this is that he is just opening very wide range, not that he constructs his range such that he has a pair on all low boards.

I'm OK with flatting here on the provisor that the flop is never played this way ;). Generally not a fan of shipping 25bb but if it's between shipping and folding then shipping is better. Risk:reward is also made better by the 2.5x open (vs 2x standard size)
