Against the same decent player. Wasn't sure how to approach this. I was pretty sure I had the best hand at the flop/turn probably because of game flow.

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $50(BB) Replayer
Hero ($1,060)
($1,940)

Dealt to Hero Q♠ 2♣

Villain calls $25, Hero checks

FLOP ($100) A♦ 6♦ A♥

Hero checks, Villain checks

TURN ($100) A♦ 6♦ A♥ 5♦

Hero bets $75, Villain calls $75

RIVER ($250) A♦ 6♦ A♥ 5♦ Q♦

Hero bets $125, Villain calls $125

Hero shows Q♠ 2♣
(Pre 54%, Flop 68.8%, Turn 61.4%)

shows 8♠ 9♦
(Pre 46%, Flop 31.2%, Turn 38.6%)

wins $500

I realize now that my river bet is pretty stupid. Tbh I felt he was playing well and it threw me off. Opinions?

Preflop, flop, turn look fine.

River, like you said, doesn't really make a lot of sense. He's not likely to call anything worse, and probably has a diamond a pretty high percentage of the time when he calls turn. Vs a halfpot river bet I really doubt he folds any diamond getting that price.

Best line is def check/folding river.

I just lead flop on paired boards in these situations. I take it down very very often.

If not, turn is good, but check/fold river.
