I know I played this hand badly - this isn't typical of my style of play Normally I would have folded this hand as soon as that flop came up - especially with BU capping.
However overall I am a little too passive post-flop so I was experimenting with a little more aggression (I had a read the BU may have been overbetting and there were a lot of callers.)
I guess I just need it spelling out to me what is wrong and right with my play in this hand and how I could have played it better.

bet/call turn fold river if diamond comes, because one of four opponents cards could be diamond.
btw bet/fold to river raise.

Bet/3-bet flop. If he caps just donk the turn again, you have a very strong hand and it's unlikely somebody has a diamond. Also you don't want to see a diamond here so just bet to protect as much as possible.

Thanks for the input guys.
It turns out he did have a diamond.
He may have folded if I had bet the turn but there was a lot of money in the pot.
I tell ya, the last 1000 hands I have had have been infested with hands like this, or worse.
I just don't know how to play them.

It's not about making him fold his diamond, it's about building the pot with what is likely the best hand.

Aha! Because that way it is more profitable for me in the long run, because the diamond will only show 1/4 time - and sometimes he will fold.
I think I understand.

Correct. By the way you said you normally fold this hand on the flop? Don't do that. You have most of the time the best hand with good chances to even outdraw a flush.
