Hey suitedaces1701,

noticed ur blog a while ago and I follow with interest :) The 180man SnGs on Stars were what finally pushed me into taking up poker full time. Grinding and mass-tabling these loveable monstrosities is a challenge in so many ways ... but I'm sure u know that by now :)

The fact that u've had one positive day doesn't always mean the downswing is over. I've had countless weeks when I was losing more than I was winning and the dry periods between the peaks and bottoms are really wide. U shoot up fast but then u slowly painfully decend. Those kinds of trends don't really start to take their toll until well over six months has passed. I hope u'll be ready for the really tough periods :)

But I hope I didn't rain too much doom and gloom on ur promising effort so far! MT SnGs aren't too unlike fixed limit, so learn to love the pain and the wait for those awesomely big paydays and at the same time ignore those long periods when it looks like ur only trying to fill in the hole that somehow keeps on eating the effort with which u work on it. Stay focused and good luck at the tables! :)

Lol yea I figured that out by now. No one can make it rain doom and gloom on my efforts :) Thanks for letting me know about what's coming up ahead though. Now that I know that it is normal for long swings like that to happen, I won't be as frustrated when they do decide to bite me in the ass. And I also noticed that after a day of bad beats at the 45 mans, I run pretty good in the MTTs lol. I just might cash in my first 6900 FPPs for a big $100 ticket.

And I see plenty of people getting supernova through the 180 mans lol. I think it would be pretty easy when I eventually mix all of the games ($3.50R up to $35).

the $3.5R are awful for getting to supernova. their rake is really small.

i think it's just worth going for supernova if you can get ~70-80k playing the usual volume. and definitely do not play a lot of tables just to reach some vpp goal, the good thing about 180's is the huge ROI that it allows, it's better having a 25% ROI and being goldstar/platinum compared with 15% ROI supernova.

Yea my goal is to reach supernova but my main goal is to make money of course. So that being said, I first saw videos on the 180 mans at deucescracked (when I registered for a free 7 day trial) and the instructor basically showed all of the ROIs that he was getting with 34ish tables from the $3.50R up to the $35s. I don't remember exact numbers but the $3.50R are really high. That is why I will play them too. They also fill up faster so if I'm at 24 tables total, the $3.50 will bring it up to the 30+ tables I want :)

I could watch everything for free :P You have to put in your credit card though. They'll bill you for 1 month after 7 days so you have to cancel before your time runs out :) I did it twice lol, I'm about to ask my dad for his credit card for another week _biggrin:
Unless everything changed since the last time I was there...

I'm actually going to watch that whole series and restart playing 180 mans! If I drop back down to $50, I can do what I did at the beginning of this blog all over again

I'm actually watching episode 1 right now lol. But no I watched the top 0.56 percent before. The real 180 man grinder wasn't there back then.

oh..ok, I'll watch that first then... what does the .56 % represent?

0.56% is first place in a 180 man turbo lol
the real 180 man grinder is just another 180 man series, which is good by the way so I don't think you need to watch the 0.56% :)

OK so 0.56% talks about the math and all that so I would say it's more for beginners, 180 man grinder is more to make a good player that's already familiar with the game better

I would do it on the 6th day just in case that they take away your ability to view videos right when you cancel.

Today I was really starting to think about switching to STTs so that my BR doesn't keep going down so fast. I could take some lessons from lessthanthree and make lots of money!
But I still decided to play 180 mans lol. I started with ~200 BI so I really didn't think I was going to go broke any time soon. And boy did I make the right decision Made $200 today.

New (updated) goals:

-Cardio 5 days a week (starting mondays)
-Reach 30 tables A.S.A.P. (hopefully around the end of this month) -> I went up to 24 tables today.
-Reach the $2,000 barrier by March 1st (start mixing the $3.50R & $8 games)
-Update my results every week (sunday evenings)

Here's the first graph of the 180 man journey. This isn't all of my session from today but I might as well make it start at $0.

The final tables with the hyper simple theme are awesome by the way!

Good luck man! ... I'm tryin' the same thing with reaching 30 tables just that I'm far from any good in ICM, push fold, ranges and I'm just doing stupid things at 16+...
