Just trying to work this signature thing out ... any advice anyone? And can someone take the time to explain how to load up graphs from HEM.
At the top of this page - Your Profile -> Edit Signature. Write it in there, and if you want to have a link to your blog, go to 'Options' and make sure BBCode is enabled.
Yeah, as Gregor's already answered,
go to "your profile" at the top of the forum pages.
Edit signature, then the "options" button will give you a pop-up menu.
In this menu(for whatever reason) "Deactivate BBcode" is checked by default, remove that checkmark and your link will pop right out the way it should!
Shall I just re-name my blog to 'beginners questions here please!' ? ♦
Nah no worries, proper answers have been given, thanks Gregor and fruktpuff!
@Gerv, yeah it's quite cool. French girls were really nice, they were on their way doing a charity event where they were driving down from France to Morocco to help set up water wells, as well as support the education by providing proper equipment.
I won't always mention the poker part, however since my job also has a lot to do with poker, you often get into the discussion. So far it pretty much always turned into the discussion if it's gambling or not ♦.
omg! how have I missed this blog until now?!
GL with your challenge!
Though I think, you shoul bet about something more fun (for us) aswell!
Like if you fail you have to run around the office in a pink(!) dress or something (obv, whilst Daniel follows you with a camera ♦) ♦
hahah. even picturing it in my head made me laugh.
So cmon, accept the challenge!
oh yeah that sounds like a lot of fun ♦
But he does such things anyways every weekend when we are drunk ♦

Weirder things have happened in the past, but I like your thinking! I'll have you guys come up with something if I don't make 15.000 hands in March.
Any other suggestions? ♦

Is that you implying I set the bar too low?
I'm sure we could think of something way way weirder if thats what you were implying ♦
@ Daniel: You should start bringing a camera then! ♦

Do you have any dogs? Mine tend to pull when I walk then on leash and it's annoying. Any advice on what I can do about it?
Also, my mother's birthday is coming up and I'm not sure what to get her. She says she all she wants is for me to call regularly, but I feel like I should still get her something. Thoughts?

Never had any dogs, however I do like them. Don't think I could live with the commitment to coming home and taking them for a walk all the time, so it's only good that I don't have them.
I've watched some episodes of 'the dog whisperer' which isn't about a guy who has paranormal skills where he can actually talk to dogs but rather about a guy who is good at training dogs.
The key is to show the dog that you're the alpha male in the group. Whenever he doesn't listen, push him down and make him lie on the ground. (this is how dogs show that you are superior to them. Also, when studying psychology, I learned that it is good to reward animals (and humans) when they do something good. This will increase synapses between happiness and the performed action, which will cause the dog (or person) to do it again.
For your mothers birthday, I would recommend giving her a self written pokerbook. I'm sure she'd be interested in reading about your thoughts and learning what your life as a pokerplayer is about, rather than just a gambling addiction.

Maybe you can give her a weekend with a friend in a spa or a wellness centre? or you can go toghehter so you can both relax en talk?
Also an big photo print of you and her together on canvas (i dont know if this is the right english word) can be nice.
Do you guys listen to music while grinding? If so, what kind of music do you listen to?
I usually have phases of music selection where I listen to a certain type of music or even a specific singer/band/artist for a period or time. Some of the things I have listened to in the past:
- Hip-Hop/Rap
- Linkin park
- Eminem
- Drum & Bass
- House
- Techno
- Dubstep
- James Blunt
- Jason Mraz
And now recently more Dubstep again.
Curious if you guys listen to music while grinding or if you don't want to be distracted from playing at all.

Takes a brave man to admit that.

Everybody goes through phases, right?
hey Melvin,
how is it going lately? Fun in work? This is Jozef from the pokercamp in January, we met in the buffet and u showed me the recording room, right?
Wanted to ask u a thing since it's almost a certainty now that we (me and my gf) are moving to Gib soon:
i somehow heard an info that ur friend Stefan Kuipers (the very good chessplr and the biggest surprise of Gib open - btw did he manage the GM norm in the end?) is also connected to poker. Is he residing in Gib/Spain or visiting frequently? Do u know of any other chess plrs who do?
The reason i am asking is coz my gf is WGM 2300 and training chess pretty seriously now again, so if there are guys for mutual chess training sessions or just sometimes random strong blitz games, i d like to set it up.
all the best
Jozef

Hey Jozef! Welcome in my blog, work is going well!
Stefan unfortunately didn't make the GM norm, missed it by a bit.. He did obviously win his rating prize though, which was 2000 Sterling Pounds.
He visited Gibraltar twice, past year, but I can not guarantee you anything about his future plans. If he does come over, i'll maybe be once or twice for a week of holiday, not a regular visit.
At the moment, we have KTU (German coach) in Gibraltar, who is a regular chess player as well. He will stay here for half a year, so if you move down here soon you can still meet him.
I know there is a chess club in Gibraltar, however I'm afraid there are no really good players there. (I could be wrong though, never went there myself)
Let me know if/when you are coming down so we can meet up for dinner and drinks one day!
