Who?
I am Volrath89 (so you can guess my age at any time) and I used to play online Poker. I played most of my hands in 2011 but with a totally different mindset: as a Rakeback pro. I used to play from 12 up to 18 Fullring cash tables back in the day. My goal for 2011 was Supernova Elite (disclaimer: I didn't make it).
Then came that friday, The Black Friday. It was actually a rainy day in my city, I remember well. I opened up my browser as usual - one of the tabs was the pokerstars.com web site - and found a big FBI sign. I, as I guess many others in the poker world, freaked out and was fearing about the industry and my "poker career". In retrospect I think that was a very good weekend to grind, all the regs freaked out and the non-american fishes having no clue what was going on.
After the dust was gone, I was back to work, and now I think games were actually still soft post black friday. I ended up making 6x supernova and basically breakeven on the tables. After that I was totally burned out and quitted poker in December 30, 2011.
Why?
I came back weeks ago. Why? Well, two reasons 1) I need money (who doesn't, right?) and 2) the US Dollar has gained more than 60% of value compared to my currency in the last year alone, but compared to 2011 - and if it keeps going up - it could be well close to a 100% appreciation.
And why do I write a Blog? Mainly as a motivation to keep up with my goal... but also because I am planning to apply to a US University next year and need to sharpen my english skills
If you are a native english speaker - or non native, it doesn't matter actually - and see something with bad grammar or that it's impossible for you to understand, let me know! It would be really helpful to me.
What?
This blog's title is simple enough and self explanatory. My goal is to crush the micros and mantain a consistent 10bb/100 winrate over a long streak of hands. I don't know how bad have the winrates been affected ... but even in 2011 a winrate of over 10bb/100 was crushing the limit. With this + volume (it would be awesome, yet somewhat difficult, to play 100k hands/months as I did in a "light" month before) I hope to have a steady income for the four months that are left in 2015. Initially, this is a 4 month project, without clear monetary or volume goals, other than the bb/100 goal.
And last: Why micros and not NL25 - NL50? Well I had cashed out most of my poker money when I quitted, and I actually started this year with less than 100, so it's not only bankroll management, it's also that I would be bored playing 4 tables without being able to reload stack :f_thumbsup:. Last month was my warm up, and I ran hot on NL5. But I started seriously on September. Now I am playing NL10 and NL16 mainly. I will keep building up my bankroll this month before giving a shot at NL25.
PD: Did you note the colors of the german flag in this post? Well, that's because I love Germany (lived there in 2013-14) and I support them in the current refugee crisis. I think and hope everything will result well both for Germany and for the refugees.
