I just arrived home from some traveling and time off poker. Fresh, rested and with a decimated bankroll I'm now for the first time in a long while somewhat eager and longing for improving my game and make some serious buck.

I'm 24, Swedish and been playing professionally for ~5 years. First two years tournaments and then cash games last three years. My main limit has been approx NL$150. I've been staying on this level as I've made enough to live a great life and not having to put to much effort into it. Never had a very big roll to be honest, but always kind of relied on my ability to make money consistently as the field I'm playing against is pretty weak. I've been playing almost exclusively on a Swedish site called Svenska Spel, 5-handed cash game.

Here's the graph from most of my CG carrier (excluding tournament wins):

I'm actually on my way away from poker as it's time for me to find the next chapter in life. But until I find out what's next in line for me I'll set my mind to unlocking more of my potential and finally grind my way to a well sized bankroll, climb in stakes and get truly great at the game of poker.

I'm gonna play tournaments on Sundays and also study it so that I increase my chance of binking big. Depending on roll size the Sunday schedule will vary.

I'll set up goals of what I want to accomplish during the next three months and after that I'll see where I'm at in life, maybe it calls for more poker, maybe I'm already doing something else. Time will tell.

Poker goals until 1st June:

Spoiler

-Play 30-40 hours/week
-Build a fat roll
-Give myself at least 1 day off/week (pref 2)
-Study poker at least 2 hours/week
-Read applications of NL
-Play tournaments all Sundays (or GREAT excuse)
-Do a casino challenge (run up a separate roll)
-Done at least one poker trip
-Setting up homegame (recreational)
-Post on hands/post own hands
-Start playing CG on at least one more site
-Move up in limits/take shots
-Try out PT4 instead of HM2

Life wise I'm right now studying two small university courses on a distance, one basic in C# and one in basic web design.

Looking forward to start working out. While traveling I wakeboarded and surfed a ton, but didn't eat GTO+drank a lot of alcohol and now I'm looking to get in great shape (I'm not in bad shape by any means though). I've also been resting a couple of months from running and I'll restart it again really soon. I have shin splints, but this time I'll progress really slow and finally get rid of it. (knock on wood)

I'm dating a few girls atm but for the first time in a long while I might be looking to find a girlfriend instead of having casuals. I'll know when I find her.

I've had an idea that I should be creating electronic music of some sort (not really my bag) for a while, but due to lack of inspiration it has been slow started to say the least. Maybe it will finally take form? I'm also soon gonna start playing drums with a couple of guys in a setup we've only tried once, just before I went traveling. I've got a great feeling about it, hopefully we'll get something really nice going. I'm currently playing bass in a hardcore band and soon we'll finally start playing live, looking forward to this a ton. During the next three months I'll also get of my ass and practice instruments overall - piano/guitar/bass/drums.

I'm looking to once and for all learn to drink a bit not-so-heavy as I'm doing right now while partying. Almost every time I'm out I get blackouts (pretty severe) and now it's time for a change. I think I'll set some sort of punishment if a blackout should occur. And set up a cap of how much to drink before going out.

Currently renting an apartment, which is somewhat retarded long term, it's time for me to buy a place. Gonna look into it asap.

Some life goals until 1st June:

Spoiler

-Start looking into buying an apartment
-Eating well
-Training
-Finish the two courses I'm currently taking
-Play live w/ band
-Start recording stuff
-Learn more songs (covers)
-Get going with the project I'll play drums in
-Practice instruments
-No blackouts
-No masturbation
-Learn french(?) via duolingo
-Read books
-Slow progress running
-Go hiking
-Be more economic over all
-Push myself into social situations
-At least 1 new hobby

TL;DR

Spoiler

Rebuilding my bankroll, Swedish SH pro looking to finally improve game instead of moping around at my comfort stake and finally make some proper buck. Have set up goals for 3 months forward, until 1th June.

My roll right now is as mentioned on a pretty bad low-point. I'm good for about €2k. I'll start playing on ~€50 and in a week or two I guess I'll be back on ~€100
Gonna post weekly goals every Monday and recap/post at least once a week.

Yesterday I played a bunch of smaller tournaments/satellites but somehow ended my grind at like 00:30. Might be a good thing since I was very jetlaged. Anyways - it's my first monday and here comes the first weekly goals:

- Set up a new mobile subscription
- Finish second task in C# course

- 2h studying poker

- One core workout session
- Total of 200 pushups
- Look into loans regarding buying apartment
- Eat sallad (as meal) once a day
- No solid food after 23:00
- Drinking maximum one day + cap 8 large beers
- Sit perfectly 1 hour/day
- Post at least one hand
- Post on at least one hand
- Figure out one more site to play on
- Practice drums 10 min/day

I really want to push myself to have at least one day off, that goes for all the stuff on this list as well, not just poker. I'll see which day it'll be.

He DREAMC4T, welcome to the challenge, ....but there is a small "but":
In order to somewhat make challenges comparable, we decided to make only a few small rules:
- the goal must be at least $1k -CHECK
- the goal must be at least 5x the starting BR - Would you mind adjusting your goal, maybe making it a bit longer term?

Btw, impressive graph in OP!

Hey, gl to you. :)

Did you ever consider going back to playing just MTTs? What is your thought on MTTs nowadays, is it possible to make some decent cash as MTT player as well? Aprechiate your input! :f_thumbsup:

Hey, thanks! Yeah, well to some extent. In a perfect world I'd just play tourneys Sundays and be free rest of the week. To do this and beat variance I reckon you need a pretty (very) big roll. I think MTT's are for sure the softest format and this is also where there in the future still be consistently fish heavy, I think. I'd never do the transition to full time MTT pro, the pressure of the downswings sucks to much. Not worth it imo! But who knows? One day I might be rolled to just play sundays and be fine with it! Time will tell :)

Today I got in my first proper big session since 'restarting'. I'm playing a level under my usual and wow what a difference it it! The field is so soft it's incredible! Lost a buy in or two and looking forward to grind through this level in a heartbeat.

It has been hard to improve/study on my poker game a ton so far this week. My school stuff has been taking up unexpectedly much time. I'm used to stuff being pretty simple and finding an understanding quick, but this programming thing is putting me to the test! This is great for me in many ways, but also sucks because it's giving me a serious bore. But I'll GOD DAMN IT not leave it be like my spoiled brain's telling me. I'll finish! Basta.

Leaving the C# for the week. I've spent way to many hours in the same spot, it's too tilting. Better wait until monday and re-approach with fresh eyes. Tonight I'll head for a party and then probably go out. Goal is to drink a maximum of 8 beers and stick to that. GL ME

Nice week :) :f_thumbsup: is this at NL500SEK?

About the bank loan, have you looked around anything about this? I find it quite interesting to know what they think of giving loans to poker players (not meant in a bad way to you or anything, just curious to see how they'd look at it since I might be looking to do the same in the future).

NL500kr indeed _biggrin:

A few years ago I was promised a loan if I went in with half of it in cash, apparently 20-something poker players aren't their most standard reliable customer, hehe.. . I could've certainly lobbied a lot harder for it, ie shown graphs/math etc to get it down to 30-40%. Now as I'm now officially also studying a bit it might be another story though! I might just take a loan in my mothers name instead, she's very ok with it but I've always been a bit against it as I (in almost a bit childish way) really value standing on my own legs and on my own legs only.

ah.... well I guess that's not that bad after all, it will take a bit longer to save up for the cash deposit but then I didn't think it was possible to get a loan at all as a poker player so hey, I'm surprised! What price range are you thinking of buying?

Oh, yeah I think it's very possible, if you get denied then changing bank and trying again is the recipe for success I suppose :f_thumbsup: I think I'll be looking the 1m-1.5m range (sek, for all you non-swedes). The one I'm currently renting I might be able to buy off the landlord soon though, as some of my neighbors are trying to work out some sort of deal! Then I could get this one relatively cheap I think, the near future will tell.
