Hey guys and gals,

Lets get the ball rolling with the Team PokerStrategy.com WSOP 2010 coverage!

I landed in Vegas at around 1 am on Thursday, May 27. So far, i think it hasn't really quite sunk in yet that I've travelled almost 15,000km from home and will be living here for the next two months.

I will be keeping the live ticker threads for more poker related posts. For other stuff that happens off the tables, do check out the Team PokerStrategy.com blog.

I was walking around the Rio earlier and snapped some photos and a short video. Here are some pictures of the long walkway, as you walk from the Rio Casino entrance to the WSOP area. Posters of the past WSOP Players of the Year are lined up on both sides of the walls.

Things are set to be much bigger this year as the organizers have opened up the Pavilion, which fits a lot more players and tables than the usual venue at the Amazon room. As you reach the end of the walkway, you will be warmly welcomed by the entrance to the Pavilion.

Once you step in to the hall, the scale of the WSOP will really hit you as there are just rows and rows of tables. The room is divided into four sections, with the two front sections (nearer to the entrance) reserved to satellites and cash games. While the two sections at the back are for tournament play.

The room isn't any way near full yet and only Event #1 (for Casino employees) is running at the moment, but it should be filled to the brim once the $1k No Limit Hold'em event starts tomorrow at noon.

At the end of the room, there is a stage and a display with the WSOP 2010 bracelets.

You can also check out a short video of the room at the WSOP Day 1 gallery.

Most of the major events, like the $50k Player's Championship that will start later today, will still be held in the Amazon room. Unfortunately, it was locked when i was there, so I couldn't take any pictures of what's inside.

Right beside the poker rooms, there are also plenty of facilities for players to get food, and relax. There's the Poker Kitchen for food, the Bad Beat bar for drinks, a merchandise store for various WSOP goodies and Full Tilt Poker pros also have special private Pro's Choice Suite.

Finally, this is where I will be posting updates from most of the time. The Media room is set up for quite a large number of people, and will no doubt get much busier as the series progresses.

There's also a separate room set up for conducting interviews, right beside the media room:

That's it for now, but keep coming back frequently for more updates. Will be meeting the Team PokerStrategy.com players tonight for dinner and introductions. So, don't forget to visit the blog for more pictures of that.

Three Team PokerStrategy.com members will be participating in the $1,000 buy-in, Event #3, No Limit Hold'em (4 Day Event).

Looks good so far.

How much do your reckon it's costing you to live for 2 months in Vegas? food, hotel, etc. If you don't want to tell me it's fine but would like to know how much I need for next year

@TobyCS: can't really say yet, since I've only been here for less than 2 days. But will definitely tell you how much i spent if you ask me again after it's all over. :)

Loving the pictures Edwin & really looking forward to your coverage.

Good luck to the Team & all PokerStrategy members taking part.

Bart

I just got back from the start of the $50k Player's Championship (8 game). Doyle gave a short speech about Chip Reese, a video of Reese was played and then Doyle started it all off with the "Shuffle Up and Deal" announcement.

They just unveiled Joe Cada's Main Event Champion banner. Cada also made the shuffle up and deal pronouncement, and the event has started.

Allanon managed to get in, and is seated on the same table as BongBob, not far from where i'm sitting.

RobbieV and Nazgul are also nearby.

smells like a great great job like elias used to! Gonna keep this thread in my favorite ones!

Players are starting with 3,000 chips each. Currently still at Level 1 with SB/BB of 25/25 (yes, that's correct. No chips worth 10).

Not too much action going on so far. There's over 3.7k players registered already.

About 50 minutes in, the chip counts of the four Team PokerStrategy.com members are roughly

Nazgul - 2,100
RobbieV - 3,000
BongBob - 2,400
Allanon - 1,650

Just saw a hand where Nazgul lost a bunch of chips, he is down to around 800 chips now.

Table was 9 handed - Level 2 SB/BB - 25/50

Nazgul was in MP2, raised to 125
MP3 call, all fold, SB call, BB call.

Flop 3 2 K

SB check, BB Check, Nazgul bets 225, MP3 calls, SB folds, BB calls

Turn A

All check

River T

BB checks, Nazgul bets 375, MP3 calls, BB folds.

Nazgul turns over A5 but MP3 had A8 to have him out-kicked.

We are on break right now, but only for 20 minutes. The current chip counts for our 4 players are:

Nazgul - 700
Allanon - 650
BongBob - 2,100
RobbieV - 3,800

Spoke to Allanon on the break and he said he lost a big pot with QQ.

The hand was raise pre-flop, he got a few callers.

Flop came A J 4, all check.

Turn A, all check.

River 7. Allanon bets, one villain raises and he calls. Villain showed 44 for the full house.

Next level will start after the break at 50/100

These are what the first few levels look like.

1 - 25-25
2 - 25-50
3 - 50-100
4 - 75-150
5 - 100-200
6 - 100-200, 25 Ante
7 - 150-300, 25 Ante
8 - 200-400, 50 Ante
9 - 300-600, 75 Ante
10 - 400-800, 100 Ante

Allanon picked up some chips after he raise the cut-off with his 6.5BB stack and picked up the blinds.

A drunk guy to BongBob's immediate right just doubled up twice in the last five hands.

He first went all in with ~15BB and AJ, got called by KJ and won.

Then he shoved again with KK, against a raise and got called by the initial raise with AA. K came on the flop, and he doubled up again.
