The title says it all.
I am an ex-MTT pro and just want to challenge myself and see if we can still crush micro and lowstakes.
Never been much of a SNG players. My shortstack ranges, ICM etc are probably way off. BUT! But the fish are plenty and the exploits huge.

So I will be 4-tabling the 0.25 cents SNGs and also aiming for some leaderboard extra $$$ on GG.
We start with $10, that's equal to 40 buyins.
Bankroll management will be key - so unless we go up to ~50 buyins I will not be playing higher stakes. That means we need around $50 usd to play the $1 SNGs and $150 to finally start with the $3 buyins.

GG doesn't really have any results tracking for their Spin and Golds, so I will keep a sheet of my results. To prove no foul play I am also recording EVERY session, EVERY hand I am playing and putting it on youtube.
As a nice bonus this will help to prevent most tilt-plays and chip-spewing, "cause we on cam'ra, folks!".

Yeah. Here's my first graph. *(can't include because low forum rank)*

To summarize
After 8 sessions and a little over 9 hours of play we are up 1.77€ - we started with 9.95€.
We were up before to 14.73€, almost 50% up from our starting roll, but variance goes both ways I guess.
Starting BR: 9.95€
Current BR: 11.72€

Let's just enjoy the ride.
Good luck at the talbles, kk - keep krushin.

Good luck and if you are planning to post youtube video's over here you need to have at least a bronze status.

he easiest way to get a bronze status you can use 1 or more of our free money offers on poker rooms you don’t have an account yet. If it you already have signed in for a room you need to read the instructions well and it can take up to 2 business days before you get the free money. If that's not a option you can buy a status-upgrade.

If you have it you can post the link with the youtube icon or use the tag

Cheers,
SDK1987

Thanks for the info.
I checked your link: WWW pokerstrategy.com/free-money/
The only available offer is for GG: WWW pokerstrategy.com/ggpoker/freeplay-de/

If it you already have signed in for a room you need to read the instructions well and it can take up to 2 business days before you get the free money.

<-- I did read it and could not find any info if I already do have an account.

Thank you for the wishes and your offer regarding putting up a graph.
Here's a bankroll graph showing some of our current progress: www talkimg.com/images/2023/07/06/Zuh1c.png
We grinded it up to +100% within 20 hours of play. The next big bump to almost $40 USD was due to our leaderboard top15 finish.

To summarize
Putting in roughly 30 hours of grind we are now up +300% already.
This means we are starting to add in $1 SNGs into our mix instead of only playing $0.25 SNGs. Currently it's 2x $1 SNGs and 2x $0.25 SNGs.
I have a strict BRM - if our roll goes below a certain threshold I will instantly switch back to the lower buyins.
Starting BR: 9.95€
Current BR: 40.40€

I am suprised by the softness of the fields - but loving it. We are definitely running well, but the soft pool helps us a ton in creating our ROI.
Let's just hope we can fade them horror-variance downswings for even longer!

kk - keep krushing.

Good and bad things happened since our last post. We finally can play $1 SNGs instead of the $0.25s. That's great and more fun, as it has the potential to boost our roll much quicker.
On the flip side it also means much bigger swings are possible and if we have bad-variance-streak that lasts too long, we will need to go back in stakes again.

After a few good and profitable runs we had a crazy good session on the same day our $20 Leaderboard reward arrived. That means up another $20 for a total BR-bump of $40.
HOWEVER. The next 3 sessions we went on the worst downswing so far. That $20 were burned and we defintely earned the bubble-boy crown in at least on of these disgusting sessions.
It's normal and to be expected, doesn't mean running like poo is fun, though.
Just hoping this downhill direction of our rollercoaster ride doesn't continue for too long.

BR now: 90€

Just finished recording an insight on poker variance and winning-factors for poker outside the in-game strategy stuff. Will upload tomorrow to my youtube.

Have fun at the tables, talk soon.
kk - keep krushin'.

If you have a account on a poker room it's impossible to get a tracked by PokerStrategy. In some situations it's possible, but it depends per poker room. PokerStars for example it's not possible to retrack you're account after joining them.

@SDK1987 Thanks for the info. Do you by chance know if GG works? It doesn't explain how - but would be great to ge tracked properly by PokerStrategy.

Update BR $10 to $10000 Challenge
It's been rough the last few sessions.
After our sunrun, we lost buyins after buyins in 5 losing sessions out of 6 total sessions.

We definitely ran bad HOWEVER after thoroughly thinking it through, I also noticed a shift in our mental game: While motivation was high for the first 30 - 40 hours of play, as soon as we reached the 10x ($100), something switched in my mind. It wasn't conscious at first, but looking back I noticed I wasn't as motivated and thrilled about the challenge any more!
Why? I think it's clear, the relatively quick and straight-forward goodrun from $10 USD to $100 made me feel like we are curshing this anyway. No need to focus on every hand too much. This resulted in a slightly too laggish play, shoving too wide and more importantly sometimes calling too wide.
Yes, I think it was a very gradual and also just a tiny shift. But in combination with a -EV run this increases variance a lot and in this case resulted in even worse results.

Once I made a conscious decision about fixing this, things have tourned around again (I believe). Time and the graph will tell. Stay tuned.

Here is the current graph. Please someone repost this for me. Thank you!

The new green BR pure line shows my bankroll excluding our leaderboard prize-money.

Thanks so much for the repost, @AgapieGheorghe

Tiny update. Life is tough, poker is tougher. Had a lot of up and down over the last 12 or so sessions. Trend is still slightly up, but the negative variance isn't fun.
Playing two hours, just to lose 70% of flips and 60:40 spots, KK getting crushed by underpairs and Ax... Feels bad.
Then you make 1 or two misclicks, 1 or two calls that are too light and bamm, down 10 buyins in one session.
Normal poker. Just need a tiny vent here.

However, there is also MASSIVE positive variance.
Over the course of ~70 hours of grind for this challenge we played around 1500 SNGs.
But recently we got a 200x multiplier! Chances for that are around 1:18000 if I am not mistaken!
You can watch the episode here:

Note: There are timestamps in the video, so you can just skip ahead to the 200x Spin and Gold.

Yaaaay! Thanks so much man! :f_drink:

Recommended videos:
- 200x Spin & Gold multiplier (with timestamps)
- Special Cashgame session (godmode is enabled)

This is our latest graph. Last nice bump shows results from the cashgame session.

I was wondering, should I post my graphs with a spoiler tag or just openly - any opinions?

I prefer it like you did now. With spoilers you need to click on the spoiler first.

Good. I feel the same, so will keep posting without spoilers.

Today a crazy thing happened. I had another 200x SNG on GG. Chances for a 200x in the 6-max games I play are 200 : 10000000 so approx. ONE in every 16667 games.
I played 120 games since my last 200x - what are the chances? Very f**ing low, but if anyone wants to do the quick math, 2 out of 120 with a 1/16667 chance each, please go ahead!

The session with the 200x was a crazy rollercoaster for several reason. I was grinding to make it into the leaderboard. Very very close with the last two other players that were also grinding. The video footage of this session will be out tonight. - Stay tuned.

You wish. :P

Sorry, been very busy, barely able to upload and add timestamps and video thumbnails. Wanted to make a post here several times but something came amiss every time.
I'll post a nice detailed rant about the recent experience tomorrow. Including some nice graphs etc.
Meanwhile feel free to check out some of my latest videos.

With quite some delay, now comes a thorough update on this crazy challenge!

Not gonna lie, the last 3 to 4 weeks of grinding were rough. I guess that's what happens, when you start out playing well, running well and 10x your roll within less than 1 month of playing and are than faced with a 180° turn of variance.
After these nice first weeks, some things went south from that point on.
- I played soley the 6-max $1 SNGs on GG, starting from when our BR hit $60 and above. Just recently I created an account with 888, too and play some blasts and freerolls there, too.
- At around 70 hours into the challange (pretty much exactly one month after the start), I suddenly started to experience session after session with the dreaded downswing variance.
- In these 6-max SNGs the prize pool distribution depends on the multiplier you get. For example, the lowest 4x multiplier pays $1.50 for 2nd and $2.50 for 1st. However the 6x multiplier has a heavier weighing on the top prize: $2.00 for 2nd and $4.00 for first. - If you experience slightly negative variance in these spots where you play HU and finish 2nd instead of first, because your 60:40 or 70: 30s don't hold up, it can very quickly turn your session from quite profitable to terribly unprofitable.
- This, in combination with bubbling way too much happend to me for a streak of 30+ or so sessions with only a few winning ones in between.
- It's important to note: My game style is constantly changing. I am not a GTO bot, a lot of my play is (fish)-player dependant. If I see a 75% VPIP player limping or minraising from UTG and I look down at A9s in SB 12 bbs deep, I would 100% rejam. If I see a reg open this is either a flat or snapfold.
- On top of that I have a few leeks, sometimes make mistakes and even misclicks or misreads (one of the crazies happened in a 50x SNG, sigh).
- However I noticed I was too passive without made hands and relied a little too much on made hands against unpredictable calling-station REC players. So I also changed towards more two-barral lines (if deep enough), more agressive check-raising etc in certain spots. This
- I defnitely had a bunch of grinding sessions where I played suboptimal in addition to not running well. It's hard to analyse, but I recently imported my hands and SNG results into PT4 and will try to check for leaks etc.

That said, we are now around 110h hours into the challange and still below our bankroll 40 hours before. It's furstrating at times but I really try my best to keep my spirits up. The main problem is, that I am not sure anymore to actually beat the game. This has the most negative effect on my game.
And mental game used to be (and still kinda is) my forte...
Also I strongly doubt my game selection. I am coming from an MTT background and maybe should try and dabble more in $1 MTTs instead of only focusing on these crazy high-variance and high-rake SNGs on GG. Any thoughts?

If there is anyone with experience in Spin and Gold analysis, please hit me up and I am happy to post some graphs and stats (PT4) to talk about it.

I still keep documenting every hand I play, which is quite some work and tiresome at times, but please go ahead and check my results on Youtube. You'll find a ton of footage and definetely some interesting spots to discuss:
The Grind Chronicles on YoutTube

Here is a good example of one of my grind video: GG SNGs & first 888 grind. Make sure to check the timestamps to skip to interesting spots.

Please note, my latest videos are less motivated, not much sleep recently, lots to do besides poker and ofc my generally positive mindset is affected by our recent badruns. It'll be better with more interesting comment during the videos soon again.

Thanks for reading and any comments. :f_grin:
Keep krushing and GL at the tables!
