Hey Donks! :f_drink:

MY POKER STORY:
I'm not gonna bore you with my life story.. I'm 37 years old, and after a long long break (can't even remember how long.. Maybe 5-7 years) I've decided to give poker a go again.. Cash game.. Starting from the bottom..

I played my first poker hand online around 2007-2008. I've always wanted to be a cash-game regular, but my mindset was never good enough. I always ended up losing my bankroll due to limit-rushing and tilt. I repeated this over and over again. (Read my LINK blog, if you like)

Now, 2 kids later, a house and a dog and a nice job, I'm finally at a place where I feel I have the correct mindset, and no longer trying to get rich fast. I don't rely on income from poker, but it serves as a nice supplemental income.

I have actually already started grinding and it's been going well. I have 12.55bb/100 on NL5 for 10.900 hands and 2.78bb/100 on NL10 for 5.250 hands. No issues with tilt so far at all.

5 REASONS FOR THIS BLOG:

  • Have a place to keep track of my own progression
  • Keep myself honest
  • Post hands regularly to improve my gameplay and potentially others
  • To engage in the community
  • To get help from the community to improve and find leaks

5 THINGS YOU CAN EXPECT:

  • Insights into a cash-game grinders poker journey
  • Interesting hands from NL5/NL10/NL25 that you can help analyze
  • Weekly small updatesFun facts / Statistics from Pokertracker 4
  • The absolute best usage of GIF's on PokerStrategy

2024 GOALS:

  • Play 200.000 hands
  • Adhere to a 3 buy in stop-loss pr. day
  • Keep this blog updated and relevant
  • Improve on how I use the PT4 HUD
    • What stats do I need
    • How do i react to certains stats
    • Study YoutTube videos

BANKROLL INFORMATION:
Start: October 12, 2023
Starting Bankroll: $342
Current Bankroll: $425 (Updated: 14/11/2023)

Hi MrPaulsen,
ver ypromising start here. Only thing I am missing a bit is your monetary goal? In the signup thread you wrote $500, but that will probably not be it, right?

Hey SvenBe,

Thank you so much.
One should be careful in setting monetary goals :)

I do see that in the Bankroll challenge there is a requirement to 5x the BankRoll. This is obviously not feasable considering we are mid November :)
But I guess my goal is $1710.

I dont know if this disqualifies me for the BankRoll challenge raffle?

I'll put 1710 in. The reason for having this as part of our very few requirements is that somehow you do not only need to track your learning progress, but also how you proceed in real bankroll. If you want to do it in EV-$, that would be fine as well.
But yeah, to put something in our bi-weekly table for the reports in our news section, would be awesome if we could get you to give us an update every other week. Don't worry, our Customer Support sends out a reminder each time.

Week 1 report
Didn't get to play as many hands as i wanted due to unforseen workload at my job.

I had a good run tho. Because I was actually around -$45 in the first 1000 hands, but managed to climb up again, due to a fairly good run. My EV graph tells me I should be -$17 but my winnings are $16. So thats nice :)

Anyways.. This week numbers:
Hands Played: 1955
BB/100: 8.40
Stakes: NL10
Bankroll change: $16.43+
Total bankroll: 452.82

Week 3 report
Pretty interesting week. I took a shot at NL25 with mixed results. Played 1619 hands in total. First 700 hands I was trying to find my ground and get into this new limit. Which gave me a loss of around 1 buy-in. Then from there it took off and for the next 600 hands I ran pretty good with a profit of $110 - Then the day after I ran into a couple of setups.. set vs set, KK ai pre vs. JJ lost, and KJ vs. AJ AI on river on JJxxx board.

I closed down for the night after a loss of $70 ish. Thought about it all day and decided to move down to NL10, because I felt i was kinda playing money scared.

So i've decided to stick to my BRM rules for now, and move up when i hit $750. Really proud of myself for doing this!

The numbers for week 3:
Hands Played: 3599
BB/100: 8.01
Stakes: NL10 (1980 hands) & NL25 (1619 hands)
Bankroll change: $52.91
Total bankroll: $560.21

On Microstakes, when villain suddenly bets the river, and bets it big: really consider calling. Is top two good? It is certainly better than AK or A4 as villain can easily have A4, A5 as well. But: overfold rivers on small stakes!

I don't think you're sizing is to low or you expect villain could call with any random draw on a pot size bet as well.
The run out is really bad for you on the river, but it's really tough to fold the river with 2 pair I think. Only the backdoor flush and straight came on the river. Off course AQ is a possibility as well. Off course villains line looks really strong and with decent reads a fold is good for sure. Especially if you expect villain would only lead with basicly the nuts.

Cheers,

Hands Played: 10.727
BB/100: -11.94
Bankroll change: $-144.52
Total bankroll: $488.76

Im ready to grind it out in 2024.
