Did I play this ok? I know I have no showdown value if I didn't hit but I didn't put them on a 2... maybe my call on the flop was wrong, with the bet being more than the pot but the blinds were small. I bet on the turn so they might think I have a 2 and maybe take the pot down there.

I've been payin attention to folded OESD's I've had n most of the time they don't hit - so I guess this play is unprofitable in the long run.

fold flop, c/f turn. There is no point in calling/betting here imo. Why didn't you fold? You didn't get odds, the board is paired, and it's likely villain didn't hit the flop, which makes sure you don't get implied odds either. Oop you can't really float either (id prob like the call if you were ip), so fold flop imo.

I wasn't fully paying attention to the pot amount at the time, I only realised afterwards when posting the hand :baby: i guess I just got lucky this time

donking out on the flop is an option (because button only hits a hand 35% of the time, and much much less on paired boards like this).

so if you donk out on the flop, you usually have the fold equity to justify the difference between pot odds and equity of OESD (if you're behind).

if he calls the donkout, you can check and reevaluate. usually people don't limp and float, so if he calls you you have to evaluate what kind of villain he is, and whether he could be holding a 2 here (in which case, you have the implied odds to draw on the turn). but i generally wouldn't second barrel the turn.
