it's a very good mindset lesson for me , (i think about you downswing) thx bro. That's is real poker and it's happend even if you a pro player. I'll keep in mind this graph and of course i wish you back quicly to winning sessions.
Week 18 of Bankroll Challenge

Hey guys. Was away for a few days, but now I'm back with the latest update. As you know, we hit kinda of a downswing in our bankroll challenge. It's really just another day in the office for a poker grinder, so this "downswing" is and was nothing special. When you start playing poker (semi-)seriously, you just have to be prepared for them, because they are imminent. And I always like to say to people... If you just hit your biggest dowswing of your career... Be prepared... There's always a bigger one just around the corner. If you think you saw the worst, just wait... I know people don't like to hear these things, but that's just a poker reality.
Saying all this. Our "downswing" is faaar from being anything crazy. To be honest, I wouldn't even call it a downswing. If this would happen in my games, I wouldn't even bat an eye. But of course, I'm doing a bankroll challenge, streaming live to ppl on Twitch, showing live-updated graph and posting results here so... Yes, downswing
And here's how it looks in BB/100...
Overall BB graph

Doesn't look bad, right? Right. That's why I'm even ashamed to call this thing a downswing. But of course it looks nasty in terms of a dollars ![]()
Overall $$ graph

We started Day 51 with 0,5/1 limits. Yes, the day when we first moved down to a lower limit finally came. Unfortunatelly for us it was down from 1/2 to 0,5/1 and being like ~$100 away from the $1000 goal. But it is what it is. I expected way more up and down movement in this challenge, all thanks to aggressive BRM of course, but the only movement we did was up, up and up. Till now of course ![]()
Had a pretty good Day 51. No pressure of any kind, didn't have a giveaway that could distract me or whatever and here's the graph.

Tomorrow I'm continuing with my Twitch livestream. This time doing Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday plan.
http://www.twitch.tv/coreysteel111
- Tuesday, June 9th - 11:30 CET (5:30am ET)
- Thursday, June 11th - 11:30 CET (5:30am ET)
- Saturday, June 13th - 14:30 CET (8:30am ET)
Day 52 of Bankroll Challenge
Hit another bad day and a thought of actually being in a downswing is now almost real
Thank god I have viewers on stream who can actually see my play and all the hands and what's happening at the tables
Forgot to make a screenshot of my graph but you are really not missing much. I was up like $30 in one point and the lowest one was around $80 I think so I lost more than 110BB during the session. I think that tells you a lot about 350BB "downswing" in Limit Hold'em.
Not much more to say than that to be honest, just need to play as best as possible and we'll get back in no time
Here's my schedule for next livestreams:
http://www.twitch.tv/coreysteel111
- Thursday, June 11th - 11:30 CET (5:30am ET)
- Saturday, June 13th - 14:30 CET (8:30am ET)

I was talking about a short get-away that I had a week ago and I haven't posted any pictures so far. How rude, right!? Well, here they are ![]()

I was at a beautiful Kamenjak, Croatia. Croatian Istra is so close to me, just 2 and a half hour drive away. I should do these short getaways more often.
And the bonus deer picture is from Slovenia
It's kind of a deer farm/shelter. Just look how fast the biggest deer is in the video below. Magnificent creature. And there's a funny cameo of this guy in the picture. Just wait for it ![]()
Week 19 of Bankroll Challenge

A bit late update, but better late than never. Will be quite short, don't really have time right now. Also didn't do livestreams this week. Unfortunately the only one I can do in Week 20 it will be on Saturday. The next-next week should be normal and fine again! ![]()
So yes... You probably remember that we are in downswing, right? Well nothing has changed on this part. Now you can see from first hand how to deal in situations like this... Just stay calm, play your best and be disciplined. This is what I ask from you and this is what I'm doing right now ![]()
Here are the stats:
Week 19
Hands: 2725
Week 18 BR: $497,26
Cash game Profit: -$142,62
Week 19 BR: $354,64 (-28,7%)

So like I said, my next livestream will be on Saturday, so bare with me till then! ![]()

- Monday, June 21st - 11:30 CET (5:30am ET)
- Wednesday, June 23rd - 11:30 CET (5:30am ET)
He Corey, how did it go this week? Recovered from your upswing? You're the last one missing for our weekly Bankroll Challenge update!
Hey Sven, sorry for not updating. Family matters, so didn't do any livestreams which means no hands for bankroll challenge either. Sorry for not reporting earlier. Should continue tomorrow
Week 20 of Bankroll Challenge

Hey guys. Unfortunately, another unsuccessful week. Didn't look that bad, but the last 10 minutes pr ~100 hands were just horrible and couldn't win anything. In general, I am not winning enough hands on showdown... Well... At least I can comfort myself that I'm not running that well on these micro stakes and not on my regular stakes ![]()
Week 20
Hands: 1040
Week 19 BR: $354,64
Cash game Profit: -$58,55
Week 20 BR: $296,09 (-17%)
Week 20 graph

Had a pretty good off-computer weekend tho. Had a nice trip to Italy, but am really really tired now. Did some hiking, which I really shouldn't do because I'm in a pretty bad form right now. At least I made some nice pictures
Just look at the colors... Oh btw, these are two lakes close to Slovenian/Italian/Austrian border.

And for the end... Italians are well known for their foreign linguistic expertise

Why did you stop posting results from your regular stakes :f_biggrin:? Good luck with the challenge and getting back to $10/20 :f_smile:.
Week 21 of Bankroll Challenge

OMG ITS SO FREAKIN HOT HERE! ![]()
I'm taking off all my clothes as Nelly is singing in his song. We currently have a heat wave here in central Europe and we'll see up to 37°C outside. Being without AC in my current apartment means, it's also hot here in poker room.

Yeah...
But Limit cat doesn't seem to have problem with this. Enjoying himself and running around as usual. And when he has enough, he just lays down and sleeps in a superman pose for hours. Lucky bastard.

So yeah. Unfortunately it's so hot that I have no desire to play poker at all. But fortunately for me, I can do that and can take a vacation whenever I want really
Tbh... I would still prefer playing.
I did play one session previous week. It was on Sunday when I also did Team Online Freeroll. Nothing has changed bankroll-wise as you'll see in a second. When is my next session? No idea. Weatherman promised some storms and a bit "colder" weather, so we'll see... ![]()
At least I have cold beer
Week 21
Hands: 554
Week 20 BR: $296,09
Cash game Profit: -$2,58
Week 21 BR: $293,51 (-1%)
Hahaa the good old Omega block. Usually happens a few weeks later than this time, but who knows, maybe there will be another one in the end of July. It's almost one past midnight but it's still 29°C. Actually I like this weather except that 37°C is a bit too much for me as well, it's good until 30, fine until 35, and over that it's hot. But I like when I go out at night and there's still around 25°C. I don't like wearing too many clothes and cold drinks feel better too, but I usually drink spritzer instead of beer as it quenches thirst much better.

Short update. Haven't played any poker this week, I'm still on vacations. But this should change this week with MicroMillions coming up! As usual I also intend to stream these. For now, this is my MM plan:
MicroMillions-015: $5.50 FL Hold'em [6-Max, Turbo], $5K Gtd
MicroMillions-087: $3.30 FL Hold'em [6-Max, Turbo], $10K Gtd
http://www.twitch.tv/coreysteel111
- Saturday, July 18th - 03:30 CET (9:30pm ET (July 17)) - MicroMillions
- Saturday, July 25th - 18:30 CET (12:30pm ET) - MicroMillions

Everything above 20°C is too much for me already ♦
Well it's not that bad, but yeah... I definitely prefer colder weather.

Hey emomaniac. I've never played poker from Croatia, even though I'm there every year for vacations. But as far as I know, there's no taxes to be payed. It's kind of a gray area I guess, as most of the world
Hey guys!
As promised, I'm doing a livestream today of Day 57 and also MicroMillions event #015. Then another (and last) week of vacations for me, coming back on July 25th, so the usual schedule starts at that point. Here's the plan:
http://www.twitch.tv/coreysteel111
- Saturday, July 18th - 03:30 CET (9:30pm ET (July 17)) - MicroMillions
- Saturday, July 25th - 18:30 CET (12:30pm ET) - MicroMillions
- Monday, July 27th - 11:30 CET (5:30am ET) - MicroMillions
So yeah, today's event starts at 4 AM CET, which is 9-10 hours from now, so I guess I will need a bit of sleep before that ![]()
Cya!

So in Week 22 I did actually play one session and played one of the MicroMillions event. Unfortunately I was knocked out after an hour and half of play. It was nothing special really. Just a turbo tournament, had a half an average stack and was all-in during the hand and it wasn't good enough.
I had a pretty interesting spot right after the first break. Blinds were already 200/400, I had 1500 chips and was on the big blind. Got dealt KQs which seemed like the nuts in that spot, but there was a raise, 3-bet and a cap before me ♦ Of course I pushed with my 1100 chips that I got left. Flop was small, but I had a backdoor flush draw. Turn gave another card of my suit so I was looking pretty good at that spot. River was a king. And it was enough actually. I beat 3 other player and quadrupled up ♦ Didn't help that much really
I think that was half an average stack at that spot and it went away pretty quickly.
At least cash game session went a bit better ![]()
Didn't record this session, even though I did a livestream. Just played my usual song playlist, which isn't youtube-friendly ![]()
Week 22
Hands: 537
Week 21 BR: $293,51
Cash game Profit: $28,00
Week 22 BR: $321,51 (+9%)

So the next livestream will be on Saturday. I am actually on a seaside today already, but yesterday I made a quick jump into one of the many rivers that we have here. 37 degrees outside, but the water only had 20 and it was a really nice way to cooldown. The river is also clean and drinkable btw.

Annnd I heard you like Limit cat
This is his way of cooling down. Couldn't get him out.

Thanks for ruing that for me
Annnd I'm home guys. Vacations are over
I do miss poker, but I would still rather be at the beach, drinking beer and reading a book
BTW if you guys missed, I'm starting with a MicroMillions livestream in about half an hour. It's the last FL MM event: MicroMillions-087: $3.30 FL Hold'em [6-Max, Turbo], $10K Gtd.
http://www.twitch.tv/coreysteel111
- Saturday, July 25th - 18:30 CET (12:30pm ET) - MicroMillions
- Monday, July 27th - 11:30 CET (5:30am ET)
And some obligatory photos.
Me drinking sangria with a view. I don't really like wines, but when you mix it with bunch of sugar and fruits, it's allright ♦
And enjoying some local cuisines. Octopus and gilt-head sea bream (that's what google translate says).

So as I've written few days ago, I'm back from vacations now. I kinda feel I have a bit of adapting to do before I jump into the games and full-livestreamings schedule. Did MicroMillions/Day 58 livestream as promised and here are the results:
Week 23
Hands: 531
Week 22 BR: $321,51
Cash game Profit: $13,87
Tournament Profit: -$8,80
Week 23 BR: $326,58 (+2%)

So unfortunately nothing happened in both of the MicroMillions events that I've played this time. Let's hope we have a bit more luck in 12th MM installment
And of course I'm eager for this year WCOOP!
As far as cash games goes... I think it's time that we get back into the winning mood! Two green weeks in a row are definitely improvement already
No internet - no fun
So this is a story about my internet. I moved to my current apartment about 14 months ago. There was no internet connection here, so I had to fix this before I actually moved in as I needed my connection to the world wide web in order to work (read: play poker). This is a pretty old building and the only connection it has are via coaxial cables. Which is no problem really, because we have a pretty good ISP who provides "cable" TV+Internet.
So 14 months ago ISP technician comes to my apartment and he wasn't happy what he saw. He was whining the whole time how this won't work - the coaxial cables are too old + range from where cable comes to the house to where my modem would be is too long, etc etc. But fortunately I knew this technician via my father so he did me a "favour" and set-up everything nonetheless (as that he had any say in this matter) - without a promise that this would work, of course. At this point I could mention that my father is pretty knowledgeable about this stuff (kinda his profession) and me too to some degree and we knew this would work, even though we agreed that coaxial connections aren't in the best shape and that we will fix that at some point in the future. And it's not like I was greedy or something like that, I basically chose a default package (40mbps download, 2mbps upload and TV).
So he sets things up and... Everything worked as planned. The only thing that I noticed is that TV is experiencing some lag when switching through channels and I also knew that "72 hours rewinding" probably won't work either. So two months have passed, everything was peachy but then all of a sudden, my modem broke down and I lost internet connection (TV was working fine). So I called ISP and they said technician will come the next day. He did and the first thing he said? "AHA! I KNEW IT WOULDN'T WORK!". I was like... "wtf are you talking about, my modem broke." Another piece of info at this point, modems are provided by my ISP so I couldn't just go to the store and buy a new one. Tbh I don't even know if local stores sell "cable modems".
So he didn't believe me, he was pointing to everything that is wrong with my coaxial cables and stuff and said that he won't do anything until we fix this problem (that meant laying new cables, rerouting them, making holes in the walls, etc...). When I told him that I can't connect to my modem via browser with its IP, he didn't even know what I was talking about, so at this point I knew he had no idea what he was doing. I was begging him, almost went to my knees and I'm only half joking here. Nothing, he didn't budge. So instead I went to my ISPs headquarters, bring them my modem but they said they can't give me another one without technician approval or whatnot. They would need to order a new one, which might take a week or two or something stupid like that. Fortunately I convinced the guy working there that I knew what I was talking about, so he called the technician in question himself and we agreed that he'll bring HIS OWN MODEM for testing. His own personal modem.
So next day he's here, he says that he's doing this only because he knows me and my father and because I'm a good guy or whatever... He disconnects the broken modem and connects his own and what do you know... It stared working in a second. He still wasn't 100% convinced tho, he said the signal is not strong enough. I even showed him all the info about "Power levels" and "Signal to Noise Ratio" that you can get when connecting with modem IP. So he fills out an order for a replacement modem, I get it the next day and end of story. In the mean time I really fixed the connections so I could even ordered that rewind function that I mentioned earlier. Also really pleased with the modem and its wireless signal. I can watch HD movies hosted on my PC in my bedroom and there are two walls in between. Signal also works on my patio, ISP is pretty great in general so I have some free stuff too, like watching TV "on the go" (even on my phone) wherever I find their signal (they have free spots all over the country).
And we lived happily ever after? Not really... My modem broke. Again. Previous week.
I lost internet connection and was like... Ok, sure, they are probably doing something and there was also a big storm and whatnot so I waited few minutes and everything was working again. But after a few hours, I lost connection again. This time it wasn't for minutes, it was for several hours. I went to bed and when I woke up it was working again. Didn't really think anything was wrong at this point, but I saw in my utorrent that I was offline for 5 hours or so during the night. At this point I entered modem's IP in the browser and... Nothing. I was literally NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
I mean... I have a backup, so that's really not a problem. I can play poker and browse normally (up to 2GB per month). Problem was that I can't stream aka, can't continue with my bankroll challenge here on PokerStrategy. And the biggest problem was that... THAT I HAD TO DEAL WITH MY BFF TECHNICIAN AGAIN. So modem actually died permanently the third time that it went offline, I called my ISP at like 1AM, it was during the weekend and they said someone will come one Monday from 8am to 2pm (lol).
So I waited nervously, the bell rang, went to the door, open the door and... IT WASN'T HIM. omg omg omg omg IT WASN'T HIM. It was some younger dude (still older than me tho) and he had a new modem with him already. Can't really tell you how relieved I was at this point. He did his magic, he actually knew what he was doing and replaced modem with a new one. He was also "wtf, we still have this old models?" Even showed me were wi-fi antena is in the new one so I can point it better next time.
Here I am today, writing you from my patio. Wi-fi strength is even better now, I can watch HD TV with <50% signal.
That also means I can finally start with streams again, which means continuing with Get Rich or Die Tryin' challenge. So if you haven't figured out yet... I haven't played any hands lower than $2/$4 previous week
Maybe your father's acquaintance thought the same as well, like : "omg, not this guy again" and he asked for somebody else to do the job. ![]()
The story reminds me on this song:
