Thanks Vonki, good of you to drop in. I hope you're enjoying the transition to 6max.
BR hit $250 grinding NL5 so I jumped into NL10 Zoom! Marginal profit over <1k hands ([ ] sample size) but hey, I'm happy with progress after a long spell b/e.
Mainly posting to drop some killer grinding tunes -

Friday night sessions require more aggro-ginding tooons!
New poker term:
Nugly = having the nuts at either the flop or turn on an ugly board where Hero is not likely to have the nuts on the river.
(I imagine PLO players must already have several terms for this.)
PokerStars - $0.10 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4
Hero (BTN): 100 BB
SB: 107.3 BB
BB: 130.8 BB
UTG: 320.7 BB
MP: 132.2 BB
CO: 111 BB
SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB
Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has T♥ 8♣
fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 2.5 BB, SB calls 2 BB, fold
Flop: (6 BB, 2 players) J♥ Q♠ A♠
SB checks, Hero checks
Turn: (6 BB, 2 players) K♥
SB bets 8 BB, Hero raises to 20 BB, SB raises to 104.8 BB and is all-in, Hero calls 77.5 BB and is all-in
River: (201 BB, 2 players) J♠
Spoiler
SB shows 4♠ T♠ (Flush, Ace High)
(Pre 37%, Flop 60%, Turn 60%)
Hero shows T♥ 8♣ (Straight, Ace High)
(Pre 63%, Flop 40%, Turn 40%)
SB wins 192 BB
Villain is unknown but playing on a mobile so I expect him to be weak to terrible. I think villain likely to call with FD's and 2p+ so raise turn but should have raised larger. I was just wondering if you guys think there are arguments for flatting the turn?
Happy weekends!

Cheers, buddy, good to have you along.
In other news - I think I need to respect river raises more at NL10; villains often take weird lines (weird in my mind at least) and, after making thin value-bets on the river, I am calling raises too much with marginal hands. It is tough to balance though as I am betting small to get thin value OR induce nonsense bluffs from my opponents. Needs further consideration.
Toons!!!
(Its funny, I would almost never listen to this sort of thing if I wasn't grinding.)
Peace!
Busy Mon-Fri leaves me needing to play 5k hands today (not done that in a long while.) Also, gunna GAMBOL on some TCOOP satellites for sh*ts 'n' giggles.

2k hands - wow, what a swingy session! Plenty of big pots where I was pretty shaky on where I was (worth looking back on at some point) stacked set under set a couple times but plenty of full stack donations has me +5BI currently.
3k more hands seems a lot but hopefully I can break the back of NL10 today and will make my first shot stick.
In other news - bust the freerolls; np though, they were slowing volume down anyway. GL anyone in the TCOOP's.

3k hands -
the last 1k have been less eventful (mercifully.) +5.5BI
I need to be sure to stick to my volume targets through the week as putting in longer sessions at the weekend robs me of the time to do off-table work and non-poker related stuff.
On the whole I find generic, keyboard generated, mediocre, mish-mash electronica stuff pretty good to grind to as it is wonderfully unimaginative but I needed something a little more lively for this extended session:

@4.2k hands and chasing a +10BI day ♠_cool: Would be nice.
More casual 2 tabling atm and just watched this fascinating documentary on the economic downturn in the UK and the growing wealth divide - all very accessible and not too academic if anyone is interested.

Finally finished with my penance! BOOOM!!! 5k hands and +11BI ♠_thumbsup:
I feel I settled into NL10z and am not likely to need to drop down.
I enjoyed putting in a longer session then normal but in future I would rather spread the volume more evenly through the week.
Weekly summary coming.

Appreciate the support, mate, GL with the grind. I see you are getting on healthily @NL25.
Jan - Week 2
Week 2 has mainly been a last minute push to get the minimum weekly volume in, however, without this target I wouldn't have pushed through my first 7k hands @NL10 where I made my mark and shouldn't have to move down. I have made a bunch of observations of the limit and adjustments to my application both on and off the table but I am too knackered to put them down now but I'll get to it later in the week.
Pretty pic. for week 2:

Hey man! Good job so far i guess. Maybe its worth adding non showdown and SD$V lines? ![]()
Btw whats your screen name? Maybe i have spewed some against you
Hey gAsheks,
Thanks for dropping by. Yeah, my Green and Yellow lines are dead level atm but I have definitely ran super hot sittuationally I think. At the end of every month I will post a graph with SD&NSD, that way there is a better volume sample.
I stopped by your challenge, I'll see you at the tables bro (anonymously, but here's a hint.)

I want 'He was a nonbeliever' chiseled into my tombstone - I am such a calling station
As a mental game fish, I think I level myself into thinking 'villain can have bluffs on this river.' Truth is ... most river raises @NL10 = ze nuts, ja. In fact, it is very evident that most players at this limit check-back far too many rivers and don't value bet thinly enough. This session it seems I am not following through on all the population reads I solidified over the weekend.

HAHAHAHAHA!
I literally just rage quit my session because I am running bad and playing worse but that gave a genuine 'laugh out loud moment.' Thank you.
Right, first test since getting back into poker - it is all very well setting lofty goals, playing a bit and posting the winning weeks but when things are just a little tougher it is even easier to cry off and make (very reasonable sounding) excuses not to hit your targets. I knew that 10k hands a week would be challenging with my schedule - that is why I bloody set it! It completely defeats the purpose of setting mandatory goals if you can dodge them.
Losing session yesterday (-3BI) as I made a ton of poor river decisions and tiredness (and having a short fuse in general) assisted me in tilting a little. I owe 5k hands to hit the weekly minimum volume and a crazy busy schedule that includes not being able to play at all over the weekend. I am posting this boring shite as evidence of my accountability. A pledge to put my money where my mouth is and not become a fair-weather goal getter. Speaking of which, it just started bloody snowing!!! ![]()

Later:
Wrote that at work without PT4 and I actually owed more then I thought - 6.5k for weekly target and 5.5k for the month (now 5.5 and 4.5 respectively.) I am going to shoot for the 30k hands a month and 4.5k hands with basically only tomorrow night to get it done.
Hopefully next week I can rebuild a more steady routine.
Go go go! no use looking at results.
I got a bad habit of that, trying to work on it.
So long as you can stick it out with your BRM rules set.

Thanks for the encouragement.
Yeah, I don't know why I am such a mental-game moron:
- I can BR the limit
- all indications so far is that I should comfortably beat the limit (small sample)
- $10 is very little money to me as I have a f/t job
and yet ....
I am a bit of a steam head!
I have some thoughts on this that I will elaborate on in a monthly wrap-up but essentially I think it is a combination of results obsession, time restraints and mental fatigue. I will have to do something about it - not quite as extreme as yoga though despite the +EV pick-up opportunities ♠_evil:
There's absolutely no need for checking result during grind. It wont help you one bit, it will only make u play worse, or if u are solid in mental-game stuff it will not effect you at all.. but why take the risk right? Maybe you think u can handle to see your graph when you are loosing 2-5 stacks. But in fact u will be tilting without knowing it.
I know by fact i will play worse if i look at my graph during losing sessions. So i just dont look at it anymore. Whatever the graph shows i wont be able to change anything of it. So just minimize the tracker, and focus 100% on your decissions on the tables, and the graph will do just fine in the long run
