Soo, havnt been updating for a while, aka running really bad. Just realized today how strange my mind is compared to say a moth ago, and how your perspektive kinda changes during a ~40k -650ish BB down swing. 2k hands in today and I check to see how it went, cause I could tell it had not gone awful, and I check pokertracker and see that I'm only down 5BB for the day and think to my self, "pretty good day so far!" and then I realize how far gone I am. :f_thumbsup:

Went for the next 1k hands, I try to keep a 3k hands per day when playing nowadays, but after ~150ish hands I lost another 50BB, and I really dont have it in me anymore, so I'm gonna call it now!

Does this mean youre now down to -700BB?

Yep. Did you ever se the movie Angel Heart?

Most certainly did! Awesome movie!

Well, theres this recurring elevator metaphore in it. I keep picturing this when I think of poker nowadays :f_cool:

Your poker is going to hell? Or you? Or! You died and went to hell and this is it, doomed to lose?!

Well thats one theory. Not very likely. And a pretty lame hell aswell. All my friends are here. Its really nice sometimes. Most possible theories are. 1. I'm running really bad. Which is still the one I'm going with, but that one loses points for every hand I play. Theory 2 is that I'm playing a losing game. But I kinda keep track of this. Now more than ever actually, and I cant see it. And I play less tables at once and I table select better...

What about that time when you thought you had a straight, but it turned out you didint? Huh?!

Well, ye, so that was that one time. But the board was flush possible so I only really lost one BB there, and anyway, it shouldnt really be relevant! Theory 3 is that everyone is playing better, and my mediocre game is no longer a winning game. But I cant really see that either. Especially now since I'm playing 0.10/0.20 and everyone seems to be playing awful...

So these are the theories I have, still thinking/hoping I'm just running bad. But as I said, this one gets less likely for every hand I play... Actually I think by now its more likely to be me playing a losing game...

...well you allways were mediocre at best :f_p:

And I do like these monologues, doesnt make you seem insane at all! :f_grin:

Sitting home alone on a saturday, talking to your self on a poker forum.... thats beyond sad :f_biggrin:

Hi man,
Cheer up!

I know you as one of the best regular on FL50. You are very tought opponent and your game is very non-exploitable. You can't play losing game. Maybe now you have bad mindset and your decisions are not optimal. Do you sessions review? Listen, I had downswing in March about 500 BB and I thought that I played well. I took two weeks break and now I can see how many overplays I did etc. Maybe it may be your case too.

I hope, that you overcome this bad time and you will come back to FL50 soon. FL20 is ridiculous stake for such a good player.

GL

Sorry for my bad english.

Wow. Thanks. Nice to hear in times like these :f_grin:

Taking a break for now, see if I can get my mindset straight. Currently going through my last sessions to see if I can find something to fix. I've seen some tendency to weaker plays in spots. Not doing the thinner value bets at times is one thing I've noticed and not trusting my reads. Gonna work more on it.

Plus I'm gonna be moving soon, new town and a new job, so I have loads of stuff to do sorting that out. But hopefully I'll be less dependant on poker winnings from now on :f_grin: will give me more peace of mind I recon. And if I start winning again I'll be able to build on my bank roll again :f_grin:

Thanks again!

New place, job and all will give a fresh pair of poker eyes. Seems you're on a brutal downswing, sometimes a break is all it takes to start winning again.

So, I'm back :f_p: been a couple of months away from poker now. Moved to Stockholm again, been working alot up here so there hasnt been that much time to play, and I've enjoyed not playing actually :f_grin: but I'm getting restless again I recon, so the new start is here! My br is pretty much depleated, im down to ~$50, but I've made a pretty aggressive plan for going up the stakes which seems kinda fun to try. If everything goes as planned, then it shouldnt be that long before I'm back at my usual level or even higher. But I've started at 0.05/0.10 at $40, so thats 400BB and should be enough to build with I hope.

I've only played ~2k hands this month however...( but I'm up $15 :f_biggrin: ) and after tomorrow I'm gonna work eight days straight and then go away for the weekend after that, so I wont be able to play that much during these two weeks. I have tomorrow and a couple of days at the end of the month and perhaps one or two where I work and wont be home to late to play. Anyways, boring details this. More to the aggressive brm now :f_wink:

I started adding 0.10/0.20-tables at $48, and will keep adding em for every $4 after that, while playing six tables. Gonna do that until I'm at $70 where I'm gonna add my first 0.25/0.50 and after that I'm gonna add one more for every $10, so its 20BB before adding a new table at every stake. Gonna go down when losing aswell, with the same frequency. Not sure how far I'm gonna go with this though, or how good an idea it is, but I thought it seemed funny, so I thought why not. But I'm fairly confident in me beating the three first limits (0.05/0.10 - 0.25/0.50), and I probably should do ok on the two coming after that (0.5/1 - 1/2) and by the time I get to 2/4, if I get there, I should have a br that'll do for 0.25/0.50 in the normal brm-way. But I might stick with it if it goes well and I'm still enjoying it. I've made a chart for a climb all the way to 50/100 :f_cool: since I'm working as much as I do I wont have to withdraw anything from my br anymore, so its all just for fun now and if I would go broke, then I can just refill another $40 and start over in a different way :f_grin:

The idea for this one was to work with the swings sorta, so the br will be smaller compared to the level the higher I get. Starting at 400BB 0.05/0.1 and ending at 44BB at 50/100, since I am confident in me beating the lower limits and having a fair br for those limits will sorta work like an elevator-break or something, but with nice good runs hopefully Ill be able to climb the stakes pretty fast.

Im hoping it will be :f_biggrin: however so far it hasnt been... I'm still at +$16 after 3k hands. Got called in for extra work yesterday so didnt play any. Done ~700 hands today after work, but 0.10/0.20 is dragging me down. 0.10 is going really good though... waiting for it to turn, having my good runs on .20 instead :f_cool: I'm up to 3 tables .20 now atleast!

But the crazy part of the journey will come later on I recon. Still having a fair br for 0.20 with $56... but I want to get to .50 before the weekend! Need $70 for that... so I need a good run tomorrow :f_grin:

good luck. yeah at 5/Tc you dont really need to think that much .. Its pretty much just raise and bet bet bet :P same with 10/20c honestly, only difference is about 5 - 8 more regs who grind it everyday. I think theres also a lot more nits at 10/20c than 5/Tc

Ye, I think the 0.10/0.20 is a bit tougher, but not much, and still easy, except for that river card, keeps messing with me ;) but I'm hoping thatll change. Managed some hands today, ~300, oh the volume. But Im up to +$20 now, so thats four 0.20 tables now and $10 to go before hitting 0.50 :f_grin:

So I'm back. First post went bad, got a server error and the wall of text I'de written is lost forever. It was awesome ofcourse, and now you'll never get to read it. Summer, new job and a new town got infront of poker this summer, and I went in to hiding. But as the sun runs and hide so do I. So I'm back. Redoing the challange I talked about before. But this time I'm going 0.02/0.04 - 50/100 in previous manner. Starting of with $12. I've gotten around 10k hands so far, started out last week so thats ok I recon. Gone from $12 - $36 with a top of ~$50. So I was playing 0.5 at some point. But it went horrible, and since that so has 0.20, so this week has been all about going from $24-$38, up and down. Was hoping to go faster at the start, but I knew this might happen so I'm not that bummed. Have 3k hands left to play this week. Going for 7k hands per week, since I'm working five days a week I dont have that much time to play. And I play less tables. At $36 now I'm playing 3 x 0.2 and 3 x 0.10. So I dont play more than six tables at a time. And later on that number will get lower aswell. So volume is gonna be a problem I guess. But I'm hoping the games will be more interesting once I get up a bit. Right now its pretty boring. Its a fight against variance and not the players really.

Have to go now! work work work. Will try to keep this page updated with any progress should there be one. And hopefully I will manage to keep this up...

Played 1k hands today, so 2k more this week then. Almost at $40 now though, so I guess it went better today, but it doesnt feel like it really. Get to play 4 .20 now atleast, $2 from one 0.5 table yay. Was kinda hoping I'de reach 1/2 by the end of the month. So thats like 10k more hands or something. Seems diffucult from where I'm standing now. But anything can happen I recon :f_grin:

Only managed ~700 hands today. Been soo tired.

Did you play your A-game?

No I did not. Realized how tired I was though and so I quit for the day. Funny how I ended up 8 tabling just cause I couldnt be bothered closing down tables... great idea. But it didnt go to bad, ended up -$0.5, but I was up at $43 at one point and playing a 0.25/0.50 table, and I won a hand, yay! But then I got some good hands that I lost with so down I went. Its my third attempt on 0.50, recon I will be able to climb it in time.

Have a spread sheed that is law when I play, with check points for when to open a new table or close one. The whole ladder is 740BB, and even though I've only gotten to 0.5 so far, thats a 290BB climb in the ladder, and as I open the first 0.5/1.0 table I'm halfway through the ladder, in BB, and those are also the stakes I'm confident I can play winning with a 1.5-4BB wr. At 0.5/1 1/2 my wr has been ~0.5BB/100 before, so more of a gamble there. 2/4 the volume is just to small so I cant say. Never played higher than that anyway. I'm pretty sure I wont be playing winning at the higher stakes, but I recon thats ok, Ill just move down when it goes bad, atleast I get to play them, I hope :f_grin:

Only have ~5.5k hands this week. And I said I was going for 7k per week, but I think thats gonna be to tough so I'm gonna lower it to 5k per week. Need some time to work on my other, non-poker-projects :f_grin:

So I've played 6k hands this week, will have to be enough.

This weeks graph

And the total graph

The week has been really slow up to the last 500 hands really. Hoping the good streak will continue from here :f_grin:

So I noticed the Get Rich or Die Tryin'-thread today. So I've opted in, since its kinda what this is anyway, so why not. Gonna redo the info about the challange I have. In short.

I play Fixed Limit Hold'em
Started out at $12 or 300BB at 0.02/0.04 and I'm going for $7612 moving up the stakes in a fairly rapid manner lowering the BB per stake for every move up the stakes I do. Ending up at ~50BB on the last stakes.

This is the chart I've done

So its nothing weird. Started out at $12, opened my first 0.05/0.10 table at $16 and then I open one for every 20BB, and then you just move up and down. Play 6 tables while in the green zone, 4 tables in the yellow, 3 in the orange and 2 in the red zone. So right now I'm at $56 so I play 2 x 0.25/0.50 and the fill up the rest with 0.10/0.20. If i hit $42 again I close one .50 and open a .20 instead. And the % on the right is how far down the ladder I've gotten in BB. The condition for starting BR at certain stakes is 20 x BB + 20 x thestakebelow x (tables visible in the chart + 1), with the exception of the first two steps :f_rolleyes: simple

And I'm going for 5k hands per week at start atleast. The green zone also represent the stakes I know I beat with certainty, if there ever was such a thing in poker... And its also the first half of the ladder in BB

That should be it. No time frame in it.

Was a swingy day today. Was up at $80, $2 from 0.5/1, at best and ended up at $42 :f_frown: but that is to be expekted I recon.

Not playing great though... need to understand when to play less tables, when being to tired. But I´m ahead at 0.20 now atleast, 0.50 being the mean one. Doing 1BB/100 and still end up losing... So hopefully it'll like me enough in time to let me get past it aswell. 2k hands though, so thats good I recon. 3k more to go, six days left of the week. Should be a breeze.

Oh no you didnt!

Done for the week now, played 6k hands instead of 5k, to get to silver on pokerstars. Which was nice cause today went well and I ended up ahead for the week. BR is $70 now, $12 from 0.5/1.0 Wont play anything tomorrow, got a halloween party to attend tomorrow it seems :f_grin:

Graf for the week

Graf for the month

And result for each stake

Kinda funny about the start of each stake. My first 2k 0.1/0.20 was at -4BB/100, when I started 0.05/0.10 I had a dip and was at -2BB/100 after the first 2k hands... and now at 0.25/0.50 aswell. I'm hoping that this wont happen at the next stakes, but the trend says it will be... When I started playing 0.25/0.50 the first times my 0.10/0.20 was still in the reds...

So how about the challange so far. I'm keeping pretty good track of what tables to play. But not how many, I've played up to 10 tables at the same time, which I wasnt supposed to do. No more than six tables at once, so I'm gonna try to keep that in november. Aside from that nothing interesting is going on really. The games are still very soft, but I expekt em to get tougher from here on, which I hope will be more fun, but also more frustrating :f_grin: hoping the climb will continue. Im up three stakes now, in a month that hasnt been going as well as I had hoped. But a couple of good runs should make it more interesting I hope. Was kinda hoping this would be an interesting blog and challange to follow, but not much has been going on this month really :f_zZz:

See ya in november :f_biggrin:
