No Trophy in France, not a single cash in any events After a 16 hours trip, including two buses, two trains and two flights I finally arrived in Aix-Les-Bains, a smallish town in France. I opened BU with Q♣:Q♥:, spewy guy on the BB 3bet big and insta called my 4bet jam with A♥:3♥:. 60BB pot was gifted to my opponent as couple of appeared on the board A double bad beat as I couldn't make a re-entry under strange France rules, only because I played the same event yesterday. So I had to wait for the last flight - Turbo 1D. Again a good start, decent medium phase but close to the bubble I got A♣:K♥:. It was again too spewy table so I decided to make a tricky play with limping UTG. As expected one guy Isolated, another called and I had an easy choice of jamming 20BB stack. Original raiser quickly overjammed and other guy finally called after tanking for around 5 minutes. I though I am in good shape after first guy showed A♠:Q♠:, but the last one slowrolled with ... K♠:K♥: No Karma for him as the board didn't improve for me and only some side events were left. But no luck there also - lost J♣:J♦: vs A♣:K♣: and A♦:Q♠: in 3way allin, Bounty event 7♦:7♠: beaten by A♥:T♣: pre and finally 8♥:7♥: couldn't hit any of half deck outs versus T♦:7♠: on T♥:6♥:5♠:

No luck at the tables but at least I could witness The Alps for the first time. A majestic view especially when you see it Live. Only a small portion of emotions can be transferred by photos but still here you are

Another week of big disappointments and bricks

Couple of deep runs in big tournaments but not deep enough to make a profit. 126/3948 in GG Masters $150, could have gone a little further if my KQ held versus KJ. But I was already short enough so can't blame anyone for such outcome

In The biggest tournament of the week I couldn't win a flip as well. I know people are calling very wide in bounty tournaments, so when I saw Q♠:J♠: being called the push of 8♠:8♦: I already knew it was GG

An example was that he got overcharged in a shop and wondered if he should go back for a few bucks - or enjoy the time with his family instead. Another concept was trusting his kids to be fully honest with him, even if sometimes had negative impact... well, but we are in a poker forum here, aren't we - not in a book shop!

I hoped for a good week before my trip to Prague, but not a single good session in recent days. I used to think that Cash Games are much tougher than Tournaments, but nowadays I couldn't agree more with Ryan

Which side are you on?

Well most important things first, in modern society attention span - both mentally and set by the environment are a thing to consider.
A) After being in it for 2 hours, the 5 min break might not be enough. On top in cash game I can easily sit out. In fact, I prefer fast-fold-tables in order to react to any messages & kids crying. Of course, that is not a professional attitude on my side, I am a mere recreational player.
B) Speaking about kids, I am simply not in university anymore, able to dedicate such vast amounts of continuous times to play tourneys - work, child care, dog, sleep, shop...

So yeah, tourneys may have more fish, but that does not make them easier to play.

Surprise surprise, no wins in EPT Prague Festival A long drive by car from Lithuania to Czech Republic was only thrilling going forward For a first time, we stayed in a ship hotel "Botel", which was a nice experience overall. A small cabin was very comfortable, no swinging as feared at first, and the first view every morning from the window was very relaxing.

And so the next morning I started my tournaments. Nothing much happened in the first levels until I found Q♣:T♣: in the SB around the middle of the day1. Young aggressive Reg opened Button and I shipped my 20 BB stack. Unfortunately, older gentleman in the BB woke up with A♦:K♥: and held. There is an argument I could 3bet and fold if BB suddenly wants to invest more money, but I thought the player on the Button might fight back with light 4bets and then I would have to fold my good equity hand.

Next day started much better and in the middle of the day I was in the Top10 stacks overall. Close to the bubble phase I still had a chiplead at the table, but it was only 35 BB. The bad things started when I looked up at 9♦:9♣: in the HJ position. My open was jammed by good player in the Big blind with 22BB which I called after a minute of thought. He has a lot of broadways and strong Ace hands which I don't want to flip against, but also all the smaller pairs (bigger pairs probably make a 3bet instead of jamming, maybe excluding TT) which eventually leaned me towards call. Is that GTO approved? Seems like yes.

Flop was safe, but Turned Ace left me with 13 BB. Next orbit CO shoved his 10 Big blinds with A♣:J♥: and I woke up with K♦:K♣: in the Big blind. Board looked safe until opponent spiked a straight on the River That left me with couple of Blinds which I thought might still get through the Bubble. But the very next hand I was dealt the most beautiful hand in poker - A♠:A♥: My shove was called by SB, however Big blind's reshove ended up in the Heads-Up pot. K♦:8♦: was my nemesis hand and my hopes were even reinforced with Ace being the first card in the window. But.. couple of diamonds on the flop already signaled some alarms, while River brought that poor 5th diamond

From positive things - I finally me Lemon live! Although he lied about taking a beer later in the party, it was still fun to meet the legend

No Christmas gifts yet after another sloppy week. During the week I won some satellites to bigger events and in one of them I had a deep run. 320$ Bounty Freezout was going well and one more bounty could have turned my week into profitable one, but my A♥:3♥: was beaten in a 3way Allin pre. I was happy to see that my opponents shared additional King, but it still appeared on the flop

For those Live Poker travelers like me, bad news reached out about PokerStars festivals. Paris event has been cancelled in February, with Cyprus and Prague probably not happening either. I wonder if they will try to add some new places and if they do, which countries would be on the list. If you have some secret information, please share

At the moment the nearest offer from Pokerstars is Irish Open in April. I tried my first satellite last Sunday and guess who got that bubble spot again

Just before Christmas, I got my best score of the year Equivalent of 6,5k euros which is enough to make a profitable year of 2024 overall. Not close to completing bankroll challenge though Last hand AQ<KQ preflop of 20ish BB, seemed good until rivered straight. Would have been another goal of the trophy completed

Week started great and I was close to repeat the success. Got deep in GG Masters Asia event, but eventually Aces couldn't hold against chipleader's gutshot on the flop. Still very happy with Christmas period, seems like many recreational players have lots of free time. And money
