Doesn't the prize pool distribution % and the looseness or tightness of the opponents play a role in the decision making?

hand 1: Close one, but I think it's a push.

hand 2: Depends. If BB is not a tight player, I fold. Otherwise: push. When I don't have any reads, I'd let the hand go because fold equity is low.

hand 3: Once again depends on the opponent. If he seems familiar with the ICM (most likely so in this stage of the game), I'd push, because we're ahead against his range. His M is low, so he could be pushing with any two.

hand 4: Push

hand 5: Fold

hand 6: Push

hand 7: Fold

Going to review the hands later with my sng analyzer to see whether I was right :)

All hands are from an ordinary SNG 1st gets 50% 2nd 30% and 3rd 20%.

nick, why fold 3? and big q on 5, why would you call that? especially if you agree with me in folding number 4.

4 is closest to call in my books, but because of gap concept + possible domination I'd fold

because i mixed the numbers up-

wouldnt push 3 and 6 though, nothing to gain there, esp. 6, from utg

in retrospect, agree with 6 actually: M is still decent, you can wait. + the EP shove is pretty suspicious, he's very likely to be holding a monster here or at least a pocket pair and you don't need to take that coinflip. you're only ahead if he made the shove with AJo, AJs, or ATs, which are all very loose shoves from UTG even 5-handed with those M's.

But 3 is easy call. He's shoving from button, you can expect to be ahead of most of his range. + both player's M is low.

1: Push - Will push more or less any-two here.
2: Push - Same as 1.
3: Fold - No reason to risk your tour life with a hand tht will often be a coinflip or at best a 60/40.
4: Call - Now we're ITM and the situation have changed some - we are mot likely far ahead of his range with KQ, and we wouldn't mind a coin-flip that much anyway.
5: Fold
6: Fold
7: Fold - For 5,6,7 - No reason to risk your tour life/double up an opponent.. You wanna be the one pushing, not the one calling, at least until you are ITM or the blinds are higher, compared to yours and your opponents stack.

Looking forward to the results :)

that's not ICM play. ICM play abuses the bubble. you don't wait until you're blinded down to a 2xBB stack just to try outlast the other small stack. I see this mistake so much, and very often bubble abuse -> abusing the timid nature of short/medium stacks will guarantee you first place.

MANY times stacks have been something like Hero/V1/V2/V3 5000/4000/3000/3000 -> 8000/3000/2000/2000 shortstacks try to outlast each other, you build your stack, previous co-chip leader now afraid to face you as well.
-> 11000/2000/1000/1000 gets worse, now mediumstack also wants to outlast those short stacks!!
-> 14000/600/400 finally one person gets eliminated, and the other two will soon follow...

could be most -EV thing to do (and most +EV on my side).

I might add that that #6 is a close one for me (and partly #3 too).. But you would still hate to double up your opponents, by calling, when there are so many chips to be gained by stealing chips.. Also we need some more information to make the correct decissions.. How wide are there opening range/calling ranges? - what are the BI (= do the opponents know ICM)?

But I must admit that I am more willing to call for a flip after the bubble burst, since it's simply -$EV to call if you know you are gonna be at best in a 60/40 on the bubble (see calculations on 2p2 [can I mention 2p2 here?] if you want).. The key to ICM is pushing loose, calling tight (at least when dealing with players who have more chips or close to the amount of chips you have).. With that being said, I may very well have all the answers wrong though, and I don't claim to be any wiser than anyone else here..

Best regards,
Mugge

hand 1 PUSH
hand 2 PUSH
hand 3 PUSH/CALL
hand 4 Push/CALL
hand 5 FOLD
hand 6 FOLD this is the only, which is close; it is a fold vs a tight range, and I would give him credit for a good hand here
hand 7 FOLD

All the others are clear ICM decisions, unless villain is a donky of the worst kind.

I hope you had fun and even more I hope you learned some new insights, don't hesitate to ask me questions.

I made a new quiz for this week, so maybe you want to test yourself again.

with regard to number 4... you're beaten by A-rag . i suppose a shove from SB you could put him on a MUCH wider range though

agree 100% with all the others though

Unless he got AQ+ or QQ+, you are at worst a 40/60 underdog, and vs a reasonable range (he should shove more or less any-two in this spot), you will often be a favourite..

Hand 4, we are ITM, he has less than 10BB and is the shorty, his range here is about 50% and vs this range we have to call with the odds we get. Plus when we fold to this player, every round our call would be tougher, because our stacks will be more even.
