River: 2♠ ($44, 2 players)

Preflop I don't like folding because I have four cards and position but all jokes aside is PF call super bad? I don't seem to fold to 3bets almost at all vs wide 3bettors, nit up my pf raising ranges tho a bit.

Reads on villain so far is that he's a losing player, 3bets ~30% or so and so far seemed to play straightforward postflop.

I called the flop expecting him to turn his hand more or less face up on turn (is flop call super bad?)

On turn ofc I bet once he checks to me, once he calls I put him on a range of mainly weak Ax's that didn't boat up and maybe something like KsKxsx (?)

So imo this river is a shove and I should expect average opponent to fold all non FH, non NF hands?

Thoughts, insults, all welcome! :f_biggrin:

I fold preflop too but maybe I shouldn't... just don't like paired hands in general unless you're really deep. postflop seems fine, folding the flop is obviously fine too as you can expect him to have it a lot here.

Versus a random hand you are exactly 50/50 equity wise with your hand.

Versus the top 10% of your opponents range you are 30/70 behind

Versus the top 30% of your opponents range you are 38/62 behind

The main issue is that there is a small percentage of hands where you can value bet this guy which is the real reason for playing hands against a fish.
I think it was a lucky river for you, i'm not sure he can fold Ax if the flush doesn't hit.

I think I save this play for someone who can make a laydown, not sure this is the guy though. :f_biggrin:

Thanks for the input guys!

But where should be the cutoff for defending? Like if this hand was double suited would it be ok to defend?

I thought that I'd take it down quite frequently once he checks the turn (yes/no/maybe?) as for the river, I wasn't planning on shoving blanks vs him.

Yeah, well, I'm a huge PLO whale myself so far. :f_biggrin: Tho from my limited experience fish seems to be more weak tight than call happy. (yes/no/maybe?)

9974 double suited is 56/44 favorite over a random hand, unsuited it's a flip (to within 0.2%)

If someone is 3 betting you 30% of the time then you should be looking to call his 3 bet with the top 20% of your range.

This hand is never better than the top 45% of your range.

Ok, so in holdem it's pretty easy to work out top 20% of my range, but how to do that in PLO? Is there any book you'd recommend or anything?

Been searching for something like pokerstove, but there doesn't seem to be anything as cool as that, only stuff like propokertools.

you're saying you have 80% fold to 3bet Ribbo HU? you have position postflop.. i'm folding hands that are tough to play postflop like 99xx and have poor reverse implied odds... but there's no way i'm laying down k97d2d to a 3bet just because i think i can make enough moves on him postflop anyway

Maybe I should rephrase.

I'd fold to 3 bet around 30-35%, not that I play HU of course. :)
