UTG+1 breena ($106.50)
CO grzala ($100)
BTN albatros21 ($107.20)
SB Waldhoffan ($100)
BB SeaGhost6 ($314.45)

1 fold, breena raises to $3, 1 fold, albatros21 calls $3, Waldhoffan calls $2.50, SeaGhost6 calls $2

Flop: 10:club: J♦ K♣ ($12, 4 players)
Waldhoffan checks, SeaGhost6 checks, breena bets $8, albatros21 calls $8, Waldhoffan calls $8, SeaGhost6 folds

Turn: Q♣ ($36, 3 players)
Waldhoffan checks, breena checks, albatros21 bets $33, Waldhoffan folds, $33 to breena ($95.5)?

Wanted to bet the turn but I know how much fish love flush draws and with 2 players in the pot I figure one of them would of caught up. So wanted to control the pot a bit but the fish bets quite big

If you know that he is a fish with a huge range then considering the size of the pot / his bet i would call it. Its hard to know in this position on turn, but in my opinion you definately should have bet 1/2-2/3 on the turn, it would have made your decision a lot easier. If he calls then you got him, if he shoves then hes on a flush or A straight. I dont think he would try to bluff you there after you show aggresion.

I was kinda more worried that villan had already made Flush on turn and I had no re draw. The fact That I just got flatted on the flop on a very drawy board makes me think he was drawing seeing as there was another player in to.

Agree that betting turn makes your life a helluvva lot easier. Bet like $22-24 and the straights, two pair, sets will call and only the flushes will raise, in general.

If you check, I think it should be to check/fold. Its hard to imagine him betting worse here since absolutely everything got there.

I think at best Im splitting with possibilities fish is freerolling for the flush. The A clubs would of been better seeing as I see a lot of Ax hands in his range. I dont think there was a worse turn card in the deck.

Fish is playing 63/24 out of 192 hands and 55% fold to cbet so I know he will call me light

Bet $11 on the flop for value.

On the turn we can either b/f or c/f. 3way I prefer c/folding as against their combined ranges there's a high likelyhood that we're up against 1 flush (which means we have 0% equity).

Yes, betting makes our decision easier, but that's not a good reason for betting unless it's a very close spot and we could end up making big mistakes by not betting and small ones by betting.
But here that's not the case as betting is a mistake due to their strong ranges.

Edit: Also consider that a fish will be scared of the flush if he has a straight or 2pair, so we can even check it down vs worse hands whereas they would almost certainly just fold to a bet.

Phil, just to clarify, I think you are saying that on the turn: ch/f > b/f > ch/c ?
(if so, I agree).

My only observation is I think although it's true that fish will be afraid of the flush, it's still a truism that the most common mistake of fish will make is to call too often. I definitely think it's possible that the fish could call worse here on the turn (sets and 2pairs). So I agree that in this spot ch/f is better than b/f but what I was trying to say is that b/f is much better than ch/c.

i.e. hero shouldn't checking in this spot and then wondering whether or not to call a bet. Hero mentioned that he wanted to control the pot so he didn't bet and hopesd it would get checked around but then has a difficult decision once the fish bet so big. Which is why I think it would be the lesser of two evils to bet $20 yourself than to call $33.

Yep, that's what I was trying to say, 100% agree!
