Looks fine to me, if he had KK, AK or 3bet 33 there is nothing you could do really.

I might be quite wrong but I don't see it as a fold pre at that point, and shoving pre is not quite good as well because not much FE I think (unless, and only maybe, if SB was 3betting too light before).

Postflop as well seems ok, even though I'm not sure about a check behind. It is a bit weird he didn't cbet on that board (and considering his stack), and checking back *could* be an option to induce a bluff on turn from underpairs or such. The thing is, on that flop of course he is not folding better, but he could very well call with AJ, AT, and might even call with JJ, QQ.

But if you check behind and he has a monster he will bet turn/river anyway, and I don't see how hero could fold at all there.

About the hand:
Preflop: Depends a lot how was the previous actions? Did you steal him earlier or did you have any fights? Is it possible that he is doing the 3bet loose or not? Or was he rather nitty/tight player? According to that I act accordingly. If he is doing the 3bet loose then I would just ship it directly here but if rather passive player then I might even just fold it since we can't do the Call that profitable being OOP and as well if we even do hit we can't be sure that he is going to pay us.

Postflop: Doesn't make sense to over-shove it here. He will have hard time calling with a lot worse. I would likely just Check behind and start betting on turn which will look a lot weaker and we might get called from some weaker pairs even.

ok -> first of 450 or 500 is enough preflop. then you can give him a chance to 3bet you with some airtype of hands as well and you have the stacksize to 4bet shove with a minimum of fe.

a ground rule in satellites: call tight - shove lose -> so he has the hard time calling us.

as played i check the flop behind. why?

1, you want to induce bluffs
2, board is dry, you don't really need to protect your hand
3, against ax you get it in anyways

so you would get more value on later streets by checking that board behind.

an alternative line postflop would be a shove with your m from 8,x which is def. never wrong here!

I'm going to play a somewhat important satellite tomorrow, it's the last step for a live event. It's a rebuy+ao satellite; the buy-in is not cheap for me but I made it in through a lower step satellite.

Do you think this rule call tight/shove lose applies to any satellite?

Considering the more expensive buy-in I was not really going for the shove lose kind of strategy. Plus I *hate* rebuy tournaments.

from the start its not the best idea to play satellites for rebuy tourneys when you don't have the bankroll to take multiple rebuys + addon. and generally pushing lose (against players that you have covered) + calling tight if it affects your stack too much is a pretty general rule for all qualifyers.

Yeah, I know it wasn't the brightest idea in the first place, but I had nothing better to do, the first qualifier was cheap (r+a as well but I didn't have to rebuy, and wouldn't if I had got busted). And the tournament is in a place I really want to travel to, so it sounded like a good opportunity, haha. It was just for the fun.

But yeah, now that I got to last step I don't have the BR to rebuy at all... I have roughly 12xBI, which is nothing for MTTs. But I will pay for the addon, which I am counting on of course (not much sense in playing it without adding on imo).

Anyway, sorry for deviating from topic.
