Coaching Plan

Time: 18:00 CET

Hallo,
my name is Manuel and my plan is to have a nice time in the coaching with you to show you how I think thought processes in SNG poker should be.

For us together to accomplish something in a coaching I need you, you have to work with me. Asking questions is your primary "duty" in a coaching, the reason why I always emphasis this are:

- I can only guess what is interesting for you
- You are staying active in a coaching and hence you are learning more then if you just listened passively
- discussions will be started and we can see different angles to a problem
- I have a much better feedback what I should change to make your coaching better for you

So if you join in to my coachings and participate activly I would be very happy, and I think we will have a interesting and usually entertaining time together.

Best
Manu

Hi everybody!

Because of the new SNG-Strategy Section, PS.com decided to launch a small project.

TheNose and me will start, just like a beginner with SNGs on Pokerstars with 50$.
We will make some kind of diary on our success or failure in this thread, and use it to post some interesting hands, when they occur in our sessions.

None the less, since we are players with a little more experience than a usual beginner, we will not stick strictly to the basic strategy, but we will explain our changes to it.

So far so good, at least I hope so. ;)

Hi,

I hope you enjoyed the coaching, here is the promised diary entry, first of all thanks to all the listeners, I was surprised there were so many of you, I hope to see you again.
Hmm if I had to rate my own play I would say, I was good at low blinds, very loose at mid blinds and good at the bubble, but I sucked at the HU, because I couldn't adjust fast enough, but that won't be a problem in the next coaching I think. The typical problem when playing an unknown limit on an unfamiliar site.

Here 2 hands, that were interesting.
Poker Stars
No Limit Holdem Tournament
Blinds: t25/t50
8 players

Stack sizes:
UTG: t525
UTG+1: t1290
MP1: t1120
MP2: t960
CO: t2160
Button: t2715
SB: t1430
Hero: t3300

Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is BB with 5:club: 3:heart:
5 folds, Button calls t50 [color:aaaaaa](pot was t75), SB calls t25 [color:aaaaaa](pot was t125), Hero checks.

Flop: 4:heart: A:heart: 2:club: (t150, 3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, [color:#cc0000]Button bets t150, SB folds, [color:#cc0000]Hero raises to t400, Button calls t250 [color:aaaaaa](pot was t700).

Turn: 6:heart: (t950, 2 players)
Hero checks, Button checks.

River: K:heart: (t950, 2 players)
Hero checks, Button checks.

Results:
Final pot: t950
[color:#ffffff]Hero showed 5c 3h

I reraised small on the fop, because I only had to protect against the Flush, and thought he wouldn't bet it on button, but take the freecard, on the turn I still thought I had the best hand and was against either a poket or an Ax, but I decided to give a freecard to make a vlaue bet on the river, but with the 1 card flush there was no value bet left, so I checked it an won vs A :spade: 3 :diamond: .
I played the hand pretty bad, I should have raised higher on the flop, not to protect, but because there are so many cards that might scare him and kill the action. I still wouldn't bet the turn, to get some value on the river.

Poker Stars
No Limit Holdem Tournament

Stack sizes:
Hero: t3750

Pre-flop: (2 players) Hero is SB with K:diamond: J:heart:
[color:#cc0000]Hero raises to t600, BB calls t400 [color:aaaaaa](pot was t850).

Flop: Q:club: J:spade: 3:heart: (t1250, 2 players)
BB checks, [color:#cc0000]Hero bets t800, [color:#cc0000]BB raises all-in t9125, [color:#cc0000]Hero calls all-in t2325.
Uncalled bets: t6000 returned to BB.

Turn: K:club: (t7500, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: t7500)

River: J:club: (t7500, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: t7500)

Results:
Final pot: t7500
[color:#ffffff]BB showed Tc 9s

I called him in this hand, because 2 or 3 hands before this he called me down with TP, so IMHO he wouldn't shove a Q here, and when he had a draw I was ahead of him and I killed some of his outs with my K, so I made the call and the best hand won. Without problems ;) .

OK I think this is enough of an update, after every coaching the "player" will write some words here, and we will keep records in the OP.

I hope we all have fun with this little project.

You don't need an account, but you need the Software.
When you have it (Pokerstars.com don't download the playmoney software) you have to look for the screenname or the tables.

Today was not that great, I lost 1 BI, which is 1.2, but I really run bad at the moment, so this wasn't a total disaster and we are both optimistic to beat this limit.

Here is the best hand of the coaching.

Turn: 2:spade: (t1250, 2 players)

That was the other coach of the BRB Coaching.
But I am not allowed to say his name in connection to this sentence any more. :(

preflop, flop and turn should be ok ...

why not push the river?

when raising the river myself i think it should be kinda obvious for my opponent that i could have a 1card straight here ...
so my opponent should ONLY raise here, when having me beat... on the river just A2 or 22 would make sense i think, because they are slowplaying top pair/trips very often...

he could have slowplayed another full house aswell (33 - very unlikely because of the 3 in my hand) or 55 ...

so those are the hands a REASONABLE player would raise once more ...
and thats why i was just calling his reraise on the river to not go broke against a FH and the chances to get called by trips were pretty low ...

but because there was a chance he had just trips (which he would have totally overplayed on the river) i called his reraise

busted twice
no first place
twice second
three times third

because today nothing really interesting happened i want to show you a funny hand:

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (9 handed) Hand History converter Courtesy of PokerZion.com

Button (t1500)
SB (t2955)
BB (t1475)
UTG (t1510)
Hero (t1330)
MP1 (t870)
MP2 (t1390)
MP3 (t1355)
CO (t1115)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with A:diamond: , A:club: .
1 fold, Hero raises to t150, MP1 calls t150, MP2 calls t150, 1 fold, CO calls t150, 3 folds.

Flop: (t675) 3:heart: , 7:spade: , 6:diamond: (4 players)
Hero bets t350, MP1 folds, MP2 calls t350, CO folds.

Turn: (t1375) J:club: (2 players)
Hero bets t830 (All-In), MP2 calls t830.

River: (t3035) 9:spade: (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: t3035

and maybe a bit interesting:

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (7 handed) Hand History converter Courtesy of PokerZion.com

SB (t1150)
BB (t3125)
UTG (t1000)
MP1 (t1025)
Hero (t3085)
CO (t2435)
Button (t1680)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 9:diamond: , 9:spade: .
2 folds, Hero raises to t450, 1 fold, Button calls t450, 2 folds.

Flop: (t1125) J:diamond: , 3:diamond: , A:diamond: (2 players)
Hero bets t2635 (All-In), Button folds.

Final Pot: t3760

preflop is standart i think but why push the flop?

he was calling me very lose so far and there he might not have an A
if he does the likelyhood of holding a diamond decreases so i would have 11outs then so i am about 50:50 and there is deadmoney in the pot

if he has a J he can fold thinking i have an A

TT etc he could fold aswell ... and therefor a push is ok in my eyes
