Fold Pre...?

My basic guide for MTT's and SnG's is the BSS SHC, which says you can limp w/ suited connectors if there's no raise.

I'm not put off here to see UTG limp, and from MP I feel it's okay to limp with this hand as well...

what is YOUR basic guide??

Dont use it, use the ps one!

Dont limp suited connectors, other then for good pot odds, that means 3-5 limpers in front of you, and you're probably in position post flop. Plz tell me where you got this info, so i can complain ;).

omg. Dont use the bss strategy for s&g's, lol. S&g is closer to sss, since not playing at all is more profitable on 1table tournament than on cashgames.

Example:

you are a fighter. Boxing ring with 10 opponents, last 3 standing win 100, last 2 standing win 80, last man standing wins 50% of pricepool.

Every round you get a weapon, you dont know what weapons other fighters have. What do you do? Run for your life, and hope you survive to make top 3, or go fight everyone like a madman?

Indeed, you have to play waaaaaaaay tighter in s&g early stages.

Read S&G articles instead, and focus on reversed implied odds, instead of implied odds.

Visit my coaching, this theory should explain itself.

nick this is MTT not freeroll.

calling pre is very very marginal, but usually the players are passive enough to make it ok. so maybe it's not so bad.

calling pre is indeed marginal, but hero should know how to play his hand postflop, if he doesn't know how to play postflop (the reason why he opened that thread I think), than it is -EV and not marginal any more.

So fold preflop and fold on this flop against a set or 2 pair you don't get the odds, the best you could hope for would be 2 overpairs, and you would flip against these with 50 Chips invested so far.

could be draws etc.

and flip for triple up early on in a large MTT? i'm happy with those odds .

but i agree with folding preflop, given hero's experience.

We can play speculative hands 79s in this situation.

Hands like suited connectors (e.g. 87s) or low pairs are called speculative hands. Their advantage lies in the possibility of winning a big pot, if you hit the flop. Thus you only play them in an early stage of an SNG, where the chip stacks and your possible profit in relation to your bet are very high. Under certain circumstances you can also play them in the middle stage. Irregardlessl you should only play them if you have good postflop skills and do not overplay them in marginal situations.
