Preflop: Hero is BTN with A J
3 folds, Hero raises to $0.30, SB raises to $0.90, BB folds, Hero calls $0.60

Flop: ($1.90) J Q 9 (2 players)
SB bets $1.35, Hero folds

Results:

$1.90 pot ($0.09 rake)
Final Board: J Q 9
Hero mucked A J and lost (-$0.90 net)
SB mucked and won $1.81 ($0.91 net)

I called purely because SB had been very fishy. Is this enough justification for a call? Basically calling to hit a flush draw as I doubt and Ace will be good.

If you doubt an ace will be good then a J is definitely no good.

How often do you think you'll hit a flush draw or a 2p+ hand?

An FD is about 10% and a 2p+ about 5%. So not very good odds. On top of this when you get a FD you have to put more money into the pot.

So if we don't think we are ahead and play if we hit A or J we should fold preflop.
