      Game : NL Holdem

      Stakes NL 10/ NL20 SH

Experience: I've played a little over 700k hands so far at micros ranging from NL2 to NL25.

My win rate in these hands has been 2.06 bb/100. I've had to cash out from time to time which has kept me from moving up but I would want to be winning at a higher rate and crushing these stakes before I move up.

I haven't been able to increase my win rate cause of some leaks in my game some of which I have identified and fixed so far but am currently facing problems with leaks like

Playing in 3bet pots especially from blinds
      Playing in check/raised pots
Playing too nitty and not opening wide enough from late positions

Need work on other post flop skills like floating and bluffing. My non showdown winnings fall at a very high rate so I think a lot of my leaks are also in my post flop game which I may not have been able to identify yet.

I have been a winning player at all limits but haven't really been able to crush stakes above NL 10 with a decent win rate. With the volume of hands I've put in I should have been out of micros by now but I really need help fixing some leaks which is why this coaching might significantly benefit me.

I play almost 6 hours a day and can put in a lot of time into my game and would really welcome some experienced help to get me out of micros :) .

Hi, my name is Declan and i currently play NL50 shorthanded at party poker.

I post hands in the forums all the time, i only play 4-6 tables because i want to get better at the game. I'm proud to be at Nl50 because I've put effort in to get their and it feels good when you succeed.

I never cash out, moving up is more important to me. All my efforts go into poker.

It would be great to get an insite on how a professional plays and for them to give me advice is something i would deeply value, it would be an eye-opening experience! :f_love:

This offer is very interesting and i want to thanks to the PS team.
So a few words about me:
I am playing CASH GAME nl2 FR for mostly 6 month but i started to be more serios from 4 month.
By being seriosly means doing reviews; posting hands; participating ih the coaches; puting some volume in my games.
To do this i made a personaly schedulle by week which looks like this:
      WEEK X.01.2012-x+6.01.2012
      -playing 3500 hands
-to do analyze an d post them on forum
-to watch 2 videos from coachings
-to participate on coach Wensday(No-Limit [Beginner]bierbaer);Thursday(No-Limit Beginners Course-bierbaer);Sunday(No-Limit Hand Evaluation [Advanced] -BogdanPs)
      -to read strategy article
      -to read 50 pages from a poker book(Tomy Dangelo-now)
Even if i do all of this the results didnt appears. So i played arround 60k hands; -41.91$;BB-3.23/100;and its clear for me that i had some problems but i am not able to find them.
I must recognize sometimes i became frustrated but i try to pass it by studying; playing; analyzig with the hope some day i would beat it.
My goals from poker is to play 1-2$ in 4-5 years.
This are my reasons for a training with a coach.
      Thank You

      :spade: My application :spade:

First of all I would like to thank Pokerstrategy for this great oppurtunity.

My name’s Urban Bor Novak I am a student at the Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport.

I started my poker career in early 2011.
I had no real insight to the game and struggled to find any learning materials.
I was jumping from MTTs, SNGs which I played for quite some time and finally found my place in SH cash game.

It was not easy for me as a newbie to completely understand what I have read on the strategy forums.
I continued playing and every once and a while I read some more.
After a while I approached a frien who opened my eyes to cashgame
with two video rewievs of my game and even staked me a bit from NL4 to NL20.
Unfortunately I busted on NL20 after having a positive EV and -15 buyins downswing.
It crushed me. I got busy with the university.
I got back up and played the game every day for few months till now. Poker became my lifestyle and obsession, I am not a gambler!
It helped me to pay for my education and not ask my parents to support me.
Just recently I started my new project at NL10 SH cashgame, wrote a 1 year plan from NL10 to NL100, which yo ucan find here . :s_grin:

I am applying for the Christmas Coaching 2012 for the NL10-20 SH cashgame for few simple reasons.
I would like someone to help me in various postflop situations, handreads, discuss +EV spots, more or less explain me their way of thinking.
I know this will help me to achive my goals for the following year and would be really gratefull for your help.

      Thank you for your time,

Mostly I would like a coaching on how to improve my game, not to get few "tricks".

My name is Robert, I`m a 23 years old fresh university graduate who lives in Romania. I started playing poker like 2 years ago i think, but i had a huge 4 month break during the time i spent in the US(played a bit of live poker there witch i absolutely enjoyed).

I`m playing exclusively NL cash games 6max, overall I have played between 300.000-400.000 hands, i started with the pokerstartegy capital of 50$ at nl2 tables moved up to nl10 since then i made a lot of cash outs and i think that's the main reason i did not go further up in limits. A few weeks ago, i told my self that's enough of that rubbish and i won't withdraw anything until i move up and establish my self at a higher limit.

At the moment I`m playing at Unibet, both regular and anonymous tables trying to work my bankroll to the higher limit, i could say right now I`m like 25BI`s short to do that. My standard schedule is play like 25-30k hands/month, read one poker book/month, review every played session and post between 2-4 hands if needed. I`m also doing like 5 quiz test/week from pokerstrategy, I`m done with the articles... the tests help me pick witch articles i should review, or read again.

With all that said, I`m very eager to get a coach`s help, even if it is for a very limited time I`m absolutely sure he can show me the puzzle pieces that i`m missing and with his help my performance would skyrocket. I really want badly to improve my game and i would absolutely love to coach poker sometime in the future, but i know i will have to fix my own mistakes before i could help others fix theirs.

      Hobbies: Books,Chess,Movies :D .

P.S. Good luck everyone, and a big thank you to PStrategy

      My Application

      Dear Coach/BM,

I'd really like to get some coaching and I hope I can convince you with my application!

I'm a very active member of PokerStrategy and post a lot of hands on the ENG handjudge forums (and also on the Dutch forum). I think this already shows that I'm willing to work on my game and always trying to learn more or improve in all areas of poker. I'm playing about 1.5 year now and since january I played for myself (I was staked till then).

I started by playing NL10 FR on 888poker and I improved quickly by heavily working on my game. At one point me and my staker stopped the staking and I started grinding on NL25FR PokerStars. After a downswing and a period of no volume I decided to play SH. I crushed NL10SH and when I moved up to NL25SH I got some coaching from Veriz. I kept improving and now I'm ready for NL50SH. This is my NL25SH graph:

And this is my playstyle at the moment:

Now, it's time for NL50 and I also want to be a good winner on that limit. I've taking a few shots on this limit already but pretty much failed and lost 10BI's. This is mainly about spew and thanks to mental game problems I guess. I think though that there are a lot more regulars on NL50 than on NL25, I've noticed that it's much tougher to win on NL50. That's why I'd like to get some coaching, to help me get settled at NL50 ShortHanded.

My ultimate goal in poker is to be a good winning reg at NL100SH+. I hope you can help me with accomplishing this! So I hope this ain't tl;dr :D

Thanks for reading and may the best man win :D . Please pick me though, I could really use it.

My name is Daniel and I'm 20 years old. Currently playing nl25SH and I'm about b/e for a bit more than 100k hands :baby: I had some ups and downs(manily downs lately X( ) and I feel like I'm back at square one. A private coaching with someone far more experienced than me would probably be very benificial and maybe I will get some good pointers about improving my game.

Looking forward to a nice session with any of the pros if I get picked :s_love:

      Hi, I'm a breakeven/slight winning player.
      I play:
SH and FR but mostly SH.

I feel I understand the game but something is missing and I'm spewing money on unnecessary bluffs and calls. In the beginning I played fixed limit but now I don't even want to look at it.
A year and a half ago I started to play NL2 FR, climbed to NL25 FR and 5 months ago I started to play NL 10-20 SH.

I have won about 5000$ with rakeback in a year and a half starting from NL2. I have never tried to play in NL50 because I can't beat Nl20 with a 4-6BB/100hands winning rate. At the moment I am playing at ongame with 50% rakeback but I play just 15k hands/month, I will try to play at least 40k hands/month. I'm eager to become a NL50-NL100 winning player. I am motivated and I try to balance my game in poker and I also try to balance my life, too.

I have never had a coach and I would like more coaching in the future if it really helps my game and helps me to find my game leaks.

Waiting for a teacher shark :f_p:

      Sup guys!

I'm a 24 years old poker player from Slovenia. Currently I'm playing NL100/NL200 FR on Full Tilt Poker. I have been playing ZOOM poker for the past year (and Rush poker pre-black friday) and have recently switched back to normal tables.

I'd love to get some new knowledge from one of your coaches, whether it is for FR or SH (since I intend to move there some time in the future).

      Kind Regards,

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want to hear. If you are looking for a reason I deserve this, I can tell you I don't have one. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career of 6max. Skills that can be improved by people like you. If you don't pick me now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you do, I will listen, I will work hard, and I will impress you.

In all seriousness though this is a great promo and a great opportunity :f_thumbsup:

I'm 22 years old from the UK currently playing NL10 6max. I have previously played up to NL25 but had to withdraw most of roll.

I would love to work with one of the coaches/VIPs to take my game to the next level :f_biggrin:

My name is Nicolas and I am from Cyprus currently studying in Scotland.

I used to multitable lowstakes 10man and 30 man SnGs at Ongame but I have recently switched to Ipoker and play tracked through Poker Strategy.

I currently play NL5 and NL10 6MAX Speed Poker (Zoom) at Ipoker profitably. I am also very active in the forums, posting hands for evaluation and trying to help other members whenever I feel I can positively contribute.

I am very hard working and I feel getting coached would be a great step towards becoming a better player and reaching my poker goals.

I never give up and will try reach my goals no matter what!

If a coach feels I am good/interesting enough to work with I assure you I will not let you down ;)

      Why I play:

I started playing out of coinsidence in a house game of a friend and fellow poker strategist for fun.

None of us knew what we were doing but I really enjoyed my first cash game. After that I did a research and bought the harrington books. Started reading and making notes. I loved the concept and the idea of poker!

I still enjoy the game and I always have that feeling of self satisfaction when I play. I am also a very competitive person and want to be the best in whatever I do. Second place is never good enough in whatever sport or whatever competition.

Poker always keeps me on my toes as there is always somebody better. But I will always try to get better myself and trying to reach my goals!

      My goals:

 Play at least 30k hands in the second half of december.

 Be profitable at a solid winrate before I move to the next level.

 Enjoy what I am doing and enjoy poker no matter what.

 Built my bankroll and play NL25 by April 15th

 Built my bankroll and play NL50 by July 15th

 Buy a laptop specifically for poker in the summer

 Built my bankroll and play NL100 by 1st of December 2013

 Meet in person with the coach that helped me achieve all this and buy him a nice lunch ;)

Ideally I am looking for a coach who will enjoy the project (and process) of taking a low stakes player and help him become a profitable middle/high stakes player.

      Hello future coach :)

My name is Alex and I'm currently shooting nl50 6max games on pokerstars.
I'm very passionate about poker and I've been going through micros for way too long. I would say I have good fundamentals and this coaching would be a perfect opportunity for me to bring my game to a new level as nl50 is the first step out of the micros and a limit where things become much more complex.

I could use some insight from a great player which would lead to some AHA moments and fix some leaks I am still unaware of.
I am a good candidate because I am certainly not going to be a waste of time for the coach, nor am I going to quit this beautiful game any time soon, so I guarantee the coaching would be put to good use at the tables. I've climbed my way up the micro limits and have a goal of being able to crush small stakes or higher and make a living playing poker i.e. live the dream :)

I have a lot of questions for my future coach and will definitely be prepared if I get chosen.
With that said, I'm going to use my pokerstrategy ONE TIME! :f_cool:

Cheers and happy holidays to everyone!

      :spade: Rihard4a application :spade:

      Hi coaches,

My name is Rihards. I am a student of Edinburgh Napier University willing to make the distance in my poker career. I have been introduced to poker roughly two years, however I had some big gaps in between, but about 4 months ago I started to play some serious poker. I am playing NL2 SH for now, but I really want to be one of those guys who make it to NL1k :D . This is my dream which I want to put into realization. And hopefully with your help, with little opportunity here on my dream will be one step closer into becoming a reality. I have also live poker experience, but I haven’t played in a casino yet, which I will in the near future, because live I poker play is a satellite league for a tournament held in a casino, to which I am advancing 100%.

So as I mentioned I play NL2 Shorthanded. This is my favorite format up to this day and I really love the dynamics on the tables. At the beginning I wasn’t really playing good so I was wasting my rolls one by one, also the roll I received, which is a shame. But recently I had actually started to improve my game and I had my so far best month in my poker career. I had a profit $40 in month playing NL2. I was very happy, though it won’t probably seem to be that exciting but for me it was. But recently, I took some shots at NL4 putting my BR to risk. Now the $40 I made in a month were gone in couple of days. Since that day, my game has somehow changed and I can’t figure out what is wrong with my game, because now I can’t win, I make mistakes, I lose money where I shouldn’t. This is very depressing. That’s why I decided to put up my application. I hope that one of you coaches will give me the guidance to overcome my problems and I will be able to fly up the limits.

I appreciate your time reading through this application. I hope that someone of you will pick me, because I am really having problems with sorting out my game.

      Yours Sincerely,

      Rihards 'Rihard4a' Dobelis

      Hello, mr. unknown //

my name is Michal, im 22 years old and i have only recently starded taking poker more seriously.

I currently play NL10 SH Speed on iPoker (Everest)

From october, i was able to play ~90 000 hands and move from NL2 - NL5 - NL10 and id like to
start taking shots @ NL25 soon (hopefully after Christmas)

From what i understood, NL25 is probably the first limit where the opponents start to get tougher and with your help id like to fix as many leaks as i can before i start so i dont get destroyed over there :f_mad:

My plan is to move up to NL100 in about 8-10 months and achive a good enough winrate so i dont have to take up another job while studying at college :)

there is a link to my blog in my signature if you would like to know some more info

it would be a great experience to get a coaching from someone, since i cant really yet afford one on my own

      Dear Pokerstrategy,

      Thank you for this opportunity.

I play mostly NL200 6-max on cake. My winrate is around 5-6bb/100 over a decent sample. I have also taken some shots at NL400 and NL600. I think I am doing quite a few things differently then the other regs, which makes me optimistic about reaching the higher limits eventually. At the same time I need a catalyst, a breakthrough moment, which either changes my poker paradigm or puts all my poker knowledge into a neat system. This is why I am applying. :s_biggrin:

Everyone likes graphs, so here's one:

I would appreciate any kind of insight from a top coach - whether it be learning some new moves or learning a new approach to the game or plugging in some leaks.

      - Have the confidence to play any stake 6-max (up to NL2000) when there is a soft game.
      - To be able to beat relatively tough NL400 games (4 good regs, 1 weak reg) if no better games are running

Areas Where I Want To Improve
      Game Theory:
      - exploitative vs balanced strategies
      - probability: bayes probability? Is it applicable in poker?
      - shortcuts for calculating equity/profitability of a play.
finding creative lines to maximize profits:
      - overbets
      - blocker bets
      - check/raise bluffing the river
      - mississipi bluffs
      - calling 3bets OOP, 4bets OOP and IP. If the coach thinks these are bad plays, I want to hear their reasoning.
      - deep stack situations (probably the weakest part of my game)
      - analyzing regs in HEM, finding their leaks and developing a general strategy to beat them.
      - taking notes (I think im good at this, but there is a lot of room for improvement)
      - timing tells

      Why you should pick me?
      - Hard working/dedicated to learning poker
      - If I get picked, I will pass the Christmas spirit and will coach one NL20/25 student of my choice from this thread. If the coach is leatherass or lnternet, I will coach two students. :P ( I tried coaching NL20 before and it went reasonably well :f_cool: )
      - If I like the free coaching and find that it is +EV given the rate, I will definitely buy a package.

      My name is Erik,

I am a previous pokerstrategy freelancer from Sweden, but moved to Asia once I graduated to play poker fulltime, I've been in Asia for about a year now. However, after a long break even stretch at NL50SH, as I seem not to be able to get a real foot hold at NL100SH I've realised I must have a lot of gaps in my game and my confidence has dropped as a result.

I've devoted the last two months to work on GTO to get a better understanding on how balanced and effective ranges are constructed as well as how that knowledge applies postflop and believe myself now to have a fairly strong fundamental base whereas I can effectively deviate from solid default play to exploitative play instead.

I hope to be doing well enough at NL50SH to be able to take the next step to NL100SH soon.

      Thank you for considering me,
