SB shows: 8♦ 8♥
Hero shows: 6♦ 6♥
BTN shows: 7♣ 7♠

SB wins 13500 ( won +8370 )
Hero lost -4810

I don't know what I was thinking - I still don't know why I called but something said I had a chance to win it all or come in 2nd if SB wins, and 3d if BTN wins. I thought for sure the BTN would call after open raising with such good pot odds, him being short stack with bigger blinds coming.

you should think about this a few ways

1, if two players are all-in , if you let them fight it out you are pretty much sure of moving up the money but this very much depends on chips

2, with smallish pocket pair against 1 player its pretty much a coin flip , against two players they may have 3/4 over cards and very good chance they are going to hit

in poker some times you need to gamble & others play the % and should fold this perflop

Curnow is mostly right. Very often we have to call though, because our low-middle pocketpair is so far ahead of their likely ranges at that spot. However, with a large raise from the button and a shove from the SB, I would expect SB to wake up with, on average, a bigger hand than 66. And because blinds are still low, I would just fold my 66.
