Included in PokerStrategy's many education features are our strategy articles about bankroll management. If you read them carefully the $50 you received from PokerStrategy after having passed the quiz is your opportunity to build up your bankroll. How long did it take you to cross the mark of $500?

Do you think the time needed is dependent on the type of poker you play? In this thread you can make comparisons with the players of the various types!

I didn't really pay attention. I could easily get that info from pokertracker I guess, if I cared enough.

8 months to reach 500$

Poker all depends a lot of things :)

6 hours, playing 2 tables of 25nl, doubling it to 4 tables, then I won an $11 50 man SNG and I'd turned my free $50 into $500. But really I already knew how to play and with a free $50 I couldn't give a crap about bankroll considerations. Pretty lucky though, even for me

It took me a little under 1 month to reach 500$ from my third 50$ starting capital. Before that I had made it to 1k in under a month, but this was using poor BRM and I quickly lost it all as well, so this really doesn't count.

An interesting variation on this post could be 'how long did it take you to make 500$ without loosing it all within the next year'

Around 4 months but I'm not sure anymore. It's while ago. ;)
At the time were everyone started with just 5$ instead of 50$. ;)

took me about 2 months to reach $500 from 50 playing nl10 SSS then shifting to nl20,nl30 then nl50.started with 2 tables for first couple weeks then 3 then eventually 6 after about month and a half.i think best thing about mansion is that it allows you to step up bit by bit instead of going from say nl20 to nl50 on titan.good luck.

I got my $50 about 4 months ago, started at Titan with some SSS, but didn't like the variance, and ironically switched to Fixed Limit, which I thought had less variance (wrong!).

With SSS and some cashes in freerolls, 30-man SNG and Omaha I got up to $120, there I switched to 0.10/0.20 Limit and got quickly to $150. When I tried to switch to 0.25/0.50 I got a bit intimidated by the money-factor, played badly and had to move down again (that was about 2 months ago).

Finally I established myself on 0.25/0.50, needed like 3-4 weeks to get $300, and my first shot at new level (0.50/1.00) went horribly wrong, I kept getting runner runner beats and other s***. I moved down after losing about $70, but on my old level I kept the downswing and lost till I arrived at $170. STB Rakeback really helped me a lot.

As I played a lot (I was on vacations) I got gold status, read all articles, and tried out on tables. Last Saturday I finally got my huge upswing day, and won more than $60 in about 2k hands. This week has been nice, and my BR is currently at $290. I hope to move up this weekend, and hopefully in about 1 month I will crash the $500 mark.
