Hi all, I'm Tony, born in 1987, a graduate 'specialist' (~MSc) in math (real analysis).

I'm going to play iPoker jackpot SnGs (not to be confused with Full Tilt ones), PLO and sometimes Twisters and Spin & Goes.

Leakfinder video by Collin Moshman :f_love: (I played $60 9-man turbos to gather HHs for it by mutual agreement, I normally stay away from them, but their structure is close to Maui / Rio / Fort Knox).

In case someone doesn't know, iPoker awards a progressive jackpot (975+ BI) to anyone who honestly wins 6 games in a row at the top €20 and €40 levels, aka Rio and Fort Knox, which are 6-man; 5 at €5s, aka Maui, that are 10-man; or 4 at €2s, aka Dirty Dozen, that are 12-man (there, the JP is fixed - €2K). There are also small consolation prizes of €500/200/150 for getting HU 6/6/5 times in a row in Forts/Rios/Mauis.

The JP sizes as of Nov 9, 2014, are:

Maui €10K = 2K BIs :f_frown:
Rio €20K = 1K BIs :f_cry:
Fort Knox €83K = 2075 BIs :f_frown:

The discussion relevant to the 'Get Rich or Die Trying' promotion starts from this post.

Old updates (the goal has become humbler, plus now I have to care rather about not losing than about putting in volume):

Spoiler

I hope to make a milliard Belarusian rubles this year, which is about $100K but sounds much cooler :f_biggrin: (and is also prone to x-rate swingaments that are likely to make the goal closer :f_biggrin: ). Mkay, scratch that, I actually store most of the liferoll in €, so the dream is €75K. [21.10.2014 edit: even 50 million, aka €4K, would be nice :f_rolleyes: ]

The start of the STT pro career, aka the learning kurwe ((C) PmagicLchocoOballs), has been better than I had expected:

JFR, ROI of -8%, or 6% with hypothetical 100% RB, or 3% with more realistic 80% attainable at Betfair, is considered good among JP regs because fees in MS JP SnG are ~17% and consolation prizes add 2% more, the jackpot equity adds quite a bit too. I haven't studied much yet so hope to arrive at that ROI eventually.
The custom PT4 stats used above, available for download from the Warehouse, are as follows (written on my own, apart from the first one):

ABI (C) StevenM

1st place %

1st place % adjusted (by chip EV, works only if there are 6000 chips in total, otherwise change 6000 in the description to the total amount of chips in your SnG, not necessarily single-table) - the stat is too specific to satisfy Warehouse rules, so please send me a PM if you want it.

My Currency Net Adjusted with Cashback - change 0.85 to your RB% divided by 100%, as explained in the below screenshot:

(I assumed RB% = 100% by default in the graph as I don't want to jinx my actual RB%, which is normally lower, by disclosure; also, with 100%, it indicates the 'pure' performance against the field, as if poker was a zero-sum game.)

ROI with 100% RB (analogously attach a desired multiplier to amt_fee_curr_conv)

ROI Adjusted with 100% RB

My focus will be rather on the volume, as it matters much more in JP SnG than in other forms of poker, plus technical, metagame and math (ICM) development. I hope the quality of play itself won't suffer much from adding tables and hours.

23.01.14 upd: I also jumped into Twister Poker as soon as it appeared, see the 23.01.14 post.

14.05.14 upd: I didn't play much because of sleep issues, didn't really look into how much I've won or lost, but am still going to fight for the jackpots, especially at its their current sizes (€85K Rio, €75K Fort Knox). I'm now going to automate the grind more than ever before to help myself focus on decisions. Because of iPoker's bonus policy, I'm afraid I can only take one shot at the jackpots (30K games lifetime), then I'll either retire from poker at all, or finally learn to bumhunt hard in SSPLO on iPoker, MPN and Ongame, being satisfied by merely 65% cashback on iPoker for €2K'ish monthly rake, or go for SNE mixing $30-60 turbos and PLO50, which my forummates certainly don't want. Oh, and also, with the current Russian attempts to block gaming sites (and possible the entire EU, what a fail), I'm poised to emigrate to ex-Yugoslavia [21.10.2014 edit: this emigration dream has to be put off as I find it hard to start learning Serbian; Belarus is a much more realistic option].

Thanks for reading!

Hey Tony,

Nice start to your blog. :)

Have you ever managed to grab any of the jackpot. I've had a look at them a few times, but never actually got around to playing them.

I think this is going to be a very interesting blog because with your background I can see some advanced concepts being discussed here.

GL and I hope you hit that jackpot

Cheers

Laz

Thanks! It will take dozens of thousands of games on average to hit a big one, and hundreds of games to hit a consolation prize. So it's yet in the works. As far as advanced concepts, I may unveil some of the strategy to make you feel that you can crush those games, but there's of course an esoteric part that is necessary for real crushing, it's the same situation as in hypers.

Running kinda bad HU, as it has been happening (the red line matters more), is not as big a problem as the lack of volume and work on the game  So the incremental graph isn't that informative. I'm afraid to review the session as I know there were both massive spews and misclicks / timeouts because of the Playtech client getting irresponsive to often, unable to handle even 6-8 tables :rage: (I have to apologise to today's opponents).

Spoiler

What antivirus to use? Avira has been pissing me off lately, hanging poker clients during its sudden routine scans that stop slowly even when I tell them to shut up, and idk how to turn them off :rage:

I'm getting pwned by fish as always. They valueraise and bluffcatch me to death :f_cry: So I have about the same ROI in the Rio fish tank as in the Fort Knox regfest. Also, I play like a retard on the bubble and so have way too many 4th places. However, the win % has increased a bit :f_thumbsup:

I'm rather slow at watching videos, the only one that I've started applying is the good old <3's 'Moving to Midstakes' _evil: but I'm afraid it's so 2010 :f_cry:

The technical upgrade is going slow too. About the only useful thing done is installing Mz CPU Accelerator that has allowed me to run 9 iPoker tables smoother. I doubt my ancient desktop will handle 16 when needed, though, and getting smth faster requires getting out of home, noooo :f_mad:

I'm thinking about adding 4-max superturbo DoNs, as the traffic in JP SnGs is meagre at times and the former emulate a recurrent scenario in the latter (so do ST HUSnG ldo, but don't they rely too much on bumhunting?). The pushfold in the former looks too nitty to me, though, so maybe I'll just add PLO50-100 tables when needed :f_biggrin:

Here's the giraffe for the last 2 nights:

Spoiler

No consolation prizes have been hit so far. The volume is accelerating slowly but surely to hopefully reach its peak on the 15th :f_thumbsup:

Here are 5 fun hands :f_wink: (if the word 'fun' is applicable to 2-card poker at all, I'm playing it for the money and confidence only ldo).

Thanks!

Alas I procrastinated the Sunday volume again (managed to get in only 6 tourneys), but on Monday night I binked Paddy's Goal Predictor (guessed the total number of goals, in A. Villa - Arsenal in this case, right, which should happen on about 1 match day out of 5) and had to get out of the bed and rake $250 to get the full $50 bonus :f_biggrin: The party smoothly transitioned into the 3-day volume challenge - to play as much as possible this Tue-Thu - so I ended up playing exactly 4500 hands and raking ~$580 in the session :f_cool:

I'll have little time on these three days so shall only post giraffes :f_tongue:

Spoiler

I'm still being exploited by fish and nits, they seem to be leaving far less passive dead money on the table than in PLO, as I can't represent nuts well here... :f_cry:

I've finally composed a special (mysterious) HUD for JP SnG that's expected to boost the ROI significantly :f_pleased:

Alas the computer upgrade remains to be done; as of now its CPU can't handle more than 9 tables, but that I found myself at 11 today was rather an exception, the traffic normally sucks :f_frown:; to get rid of the extra tables, I started shoving, gently speaking, wider than Nash :f_biggrin:.

To make things worse, I forgot to turn PT4 HUD's 'table selection' tool off, and it froze the client when mass table detection was needed. I was sat out at all the tables (instead of just lacking the HUD on them), overlooked that one of them still required sitting in and got blinded out there :rage: (though I had got ITM - as the CL - and one of the opps then busted the other believing that I'd return as I was active elsewhere).

So I had to take a break halfway do get detilted, that has cut the tourney count for the day down :f_cry: Here are the results

I've been too sleepy, tired and embarassed to write here, sorry. I've been autopiloting too much lately, partly because the 8-y.-o. desktop can't handle 9 tables properly. Hopefully it will become better after I write a colour-coding AHK script and iPoker rolls out an update tomorrow that will allow for disabling lobby popups :f_thumbsup:
Hence the result:

Spoiler

:f_mad:
The volume challenge didn't win me much, mildly speaking, going for it was a minor shortterm mistake, but the three days in the 'SNE pace' still matter somewhat, and I'm going to be readier for them in a month, as well as make computer upgrades.

I'll write a calculation of probabilities related to the jackpot, e.g. of hitting it personally within a certain number of games, or, say, its average size, if anyone expresses interest; I've never been much into random processes (Poisson ones in our case) - it was the toughest subject for me at uni, though I gained some basic knowledge about Markov chains arising here that I don't remember right now - so it will require some study.

The real life has again stripped me off a chance to sleep :f_mad: so I finished Excel calculations of BRM for $10 Twisters that I started grinding on the first day of their existence:

Spoiler

The lol sample size is because of sleep and tech issues. There are 500 starting chips and the structure is WTA, so 50 chips = $1. Of course I think I was flopping bad and running into tops of ranges :f_tongue:
I'll do a similar Excel investigation for jackpot SnG risk too some time, even though I'm not facing it myself. So many people are thinking about taking shots at Rio, and I'm here to tell them that they're not underrolled _evil:

See some of you in the HU championship :f_grin:

How is your twister quest going on? I gave up on them :p, takes way too much volume than I can handle, and I don't want to be attached to the same room in order to cashback and use bonuses

I've abandoned the iPoker grind for a while as I was too excited by the TCOOP (Omaha events only) to combine them. The last 3 days of the month, however, are gonna be traditionally volume-heavy, plus Paddy's Iron Man VII, starting on Feb 1 (Twister has appeared in this room today), won't make me bored :f_thumbsup:

Btw, once this is bumped, I'll x-post peculiar HHs from the Russian version that I didn't duplicate here.

[x] trolled :f_cry:

A standard situation - not grinding much, I'm slacking on posting because the sample is too small. I thought posting results once in 2 months would be fine but this way I'll find excuses to not post even that often :f_rolleyes:

I'd prefer postflop to not exist because I'd be paying negative net rake (if I grinded as much as I planned), but starting stacks are 50 bb and that's when everyone sucks the life force out of me because I respect them and think they're balanced, but they're probably not (do they ever bluff / resteal? )

Did you want a postflop spot? Get a fresh one (that happened after your last post)!

Villain had applied the triple-tiny-donkbet line a couple of times, once shown up with the weakest runner-runner flush (former bottom pair) on a 4-flush board, once with a pocket underpair. His river bets had been, however, smaller than the flop = turn ones in the former case, and equal in the latter one. Now he bet a bit more otr than ott...

Lifetime graph in €20-40 jackpot SnGs (cuter with cashback than without because rake is 14.5-15%):

Spoiler

Should. Stop. Playing. 40s. (20s have some fish and I likely beat them already after regular cashback, not needing to add the jackpot equity for that like in 40s.)
