So here it goes: my bankroll challenge starts now!

      Starting Bankroll: $94.81
      Goal: $1000
      1st week goals:
        Play at least 1000 hands
        Stick with single table
Post to blog at least 4 times with update/hands
I have been playing poker - on and off - since 2007 (more on that to follow I'm sure). I have decided to take a crack at this bankroll challenge to see if the focus helps me to progress at a better rate.

I plan to start with 1 table NL2 zoom while I get back into the grove and hopefully, starting in week 2, I will add another table and so on.

One of my main concerns, as a teacher and father of 2, is volume. I will endeavor to set myself hand goals each week to see how that goes, but it is likely that on occasions I may go a day or two without hitting the tables. Hopefully not that often.

Anyway, time to hit the table now. I'll post again to fill in further details about myself in the neat future. Looking forward to speaking to many of you and catching up on others challenges over the coming weeks.

So, first (part) week over and reasonably successful. Out of the 4 sessions I got to play, I was profitable in 3 of them giving me a winning start to this challenge.

I have, as planned, played 1 table of NL2 Zoom poker and managed 877 hands in total. Not quite to the 1000 I was hoping (although I figured that to be over 1 whole week not 3 days). Can't grumble though. Over this next week I will start to introduce a 2nd table of NL2 zoom and drop down to 1 table if I want to concentrate on anything newly learned from books or videos.

      1st week goals:
Play at least 1000 hands - Nearly - would have smashed it if full week not just 3 days.
Stick with single table - Affirmative.
Post to blog at least 4 times with update/hands - Nope, but again over a full week I may have been better.
I will update with Week 2 goals tomorrow.

In the meantime, here is my biggest winner of the last week. :s_thumbsup:

      GOAL SETTING

Obviously, my main long term target is to build my bankroll to $1000.

I am going to go for a 30BI Bankroll Strategy: that is I will move up when I have 30BI of the next level. So, to make my Long-term goal, I should end up playing NL25.

Bankroll Managment will look like this then:
      NL2 Zoom - $0 - $150
      NL5 Zoom - $150 - $300 (move down to NL2, if Bankroll < $100)
      NL10 Zoom - $300 - $480 (move down to NL5, if Bankroll < $200)
      NL16 - $480 - $750 (move down to NL10, if bankroll < $480)
      NL25 - $750 - $1500 (Move down to NL 16, if bankroll < $600)
      NL50 - $1500 + (move down to NL25 if <$1200)

      AIM FOR THE STARS BABY!!

Furthermore, I would like to play at least 10k hands at each limit to check I am likely to be a winning player (I know 10k is still pretty insignificant). If I happen to reach the next limit before 10k hands, then I will stick to that limit until 10k hands and withdraw any of my bankroll above the next limit.

So let's break this down to smaller goals. Monthly and weekly goals perhaps.
Monthly goals will run for 4 weeks from yesterday - so first 'month' ends 16th March.
      Goals to achieve by then:
 Play 10k hands of NL2 Zoom
 Comfortably pay 4 tables NL2 Zoom
 Finish 'Crushing the MicroStakes' book (making notes)
 Post 25 'problematic' hands for analysis
 Perform a weekly 'sessions' review
 Perform my 1st database review (after finding out what it really is)

And finally, to start me off towards my monthly and longterm goals, my goals for week 2 are:
:spade: Play 2k hands of NL2 Zoom
:spade: Introduce a 2nd table of NL2 Zoom
:spade: Reduce to 1 table when putting new strategy in to practice
:spade: Recap pre-flop chapter of 'Crushing the Microstakes' book
:spade: Post at least 6 hands for analysis
:spade: Perform my first 'session' review of biggest winners/losers and tagged hands

Okay, I think that is it for the time being. I will probably edit my goals into the original post so they are easier to keep a current track of. Anybody who is better at this than me, please comment with any other ideas or questions that may help me to improve my goal setting as this is an entirely new process to me. I may look to set some outside poker goals next time too. Who knows!!

As always :gl: at the tables.

Hit 1500 hands this evening and seem to be on a little heater so thought I'd share. Played 2 tables this evening too. Felt good so hopefully my volume will double this week.

      :f_drink: Cheers

Unfortunately, I am now away for a couple of days. Will try to play, but unlikley. Annoying to break a run, but hey.

Not a bad week, but did lose momentum when I took the kids for a visit to my folks for a few days. Am now back at work too; hopefully, my volume won't take too much of a hit. Will reflect over night and post some new weekly goals tomorrow.

TTFN because my eyes are like piss holes in the snow at the moment.

      Week 3
      2462 hands of NL2 Zoom
      Profit: -$1.31
      Current Bankroll: $108.79
      My first losing week :s_frown:

Unfortunately, I can't claim that at all. All I really claim is one particularly bad session where I made lots of silly mistakes. On the positive side, I had run a half marathon earlier in the day...

BUT, that did mean I was pretty tired when I was playing later and made some really poor decisions which in hindsight are obvious!!

Didn't set any goals last week (oops), but I did manage to play over 2000 hands again and was 2 tabling NL2 zoom again. Couple more weeks and I may be looking to try out NL5.

Hopefully, some goals will be forthcoming this week. Only time will tell.

      Onwards and upwards...

Have let my blog go and with that my profit has reversed!!! Arrrgggghhhh!!!

Any way, my one goal this week is:

      TO MAKE SOME GOALS!!!!

      Hopefully get to them tomorrow.

      Hey, Spidey!
      I have kids, too and I run half-marathon :D
      Definitely following this blog.
Do not worry about those downswings, I had some with 20BB and more. And then You really start think - is there everything all right with my game? :)
At those no limits, keep the basic game, no advanced stuff. It will start on higher limits.
Anyway keep crushing and good luck!
