Hey guys,

I am happy to announce that we will continue the Hand Evaluation coaching series that debuted on Sunday, February 1st starting this week.

Here's the schedule for the next three Sundays:

15.3. 16:30 CET: Hand Evaluation: Preflop isolation based on opponent's player-type? Post your hands!
22.3. 16:30 CET: Hand Evaluation: River - Let's value bet thin! Post your hands!
29.3. 17:30 CET: Hand Evaluation: Overbetting for value and/or bluffs! Post your hands!

Please post your hands below for this weeks coaching with the topic Preflop isolation based on opponent's player-type.

Types of hands you should post for the first session:

- Hands in which you made a thin isolation (either raise or 3-bet) and are not sure about it
- Hands in which you thought of making a thin isolation raise but did not
- Any other hands that have to do with isolating opponents preflop

Looking forward to seeing as many of you at the coaching as possible.

Bogdan

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 7♣ 8♣

UTG raises to 3 BB, MP calls 3 BB, Hero calls 3 BB, fold, fold, fold

Flop: (10.5 BB, 3 players) 2♣ A♥ 4♠
UTG checks, MP checks, Hero bets 6.5 BB, UTG calls 6.5 BB, MP calls 6.5 BB

Turn: (30 BB, 3 players) Q♠
UTG checks, MP checks, Hero checks

River: (30 BB, 3 players) 9♠
UTG checks, MP checks, ???

Not completely sure that my preflop call is good in the first place. There is a passive fish on the button, but a bit aggro player on the BB.

UTG is a quite creative regular. Semi aggressive, likes to see a showdown.

RFI 14%
Cbet F/T/R 46%/56%/40%
River bet 43% - quite high i think
WTSD 32%
WSD 60%

So when there is a possible fish in the hand i suppose that most of the time he's going to bet his strong hands when we're mutliway, alothough the board is really dry. May be he will slowplay AA here. Not sure if he opens all combos of 22-44 with that RFI.

My plan was to bet the flop and to continue on every card that improves my equity. As the board develops and given the action is it a good spot to overbet the river?

Here's the feedback from me. I really like your step by step analysis of the hands. It's really important in poker to know not only what to do, but why we're making certain decisions. You taught me how to think in terms of ranges and how to put it in practice. Sometimes we spend a lot of time to analyse single spot but I think in the longrun it's better than a quick review. Simply because I have more time to think myself, then compare it with what you say and make a conclusion. To sum up, great coachings Bogdan. Thanks.

Bogdan
