*Warning!! This post is long because it is my first and covers from NOV11 2008 untill now!!**
Hello all, I am very impressed with this site, and the community which
is constantly involved with every single aspect of the forums.
I have read many of your blogs, and I really get a feeling of sharing
your ups and downs. I feel like I am watching a movie where I am
cheering for the good guy, and when I see that next chart, or post
where the nasty downswing has reared it's ugly head, I BOO!!!
I would really like to share in this part of the forums, with my story,
though it is nothing special, It should be entertaining enough to read,
and hopefully, it can lend some support to newcommers, and show them
that as of now, (who knows what the near future holds) You can make
some money and learn alot from this site and what it has to offer.
Fair warning from the get go, I am long winded and type long posts.
So where to start.... I started playing poker in 2008. It was on a site,
that you can play on for free or pay $20 a month and be a member,
this site offered play money ring tables and SNGs. You started i think
with like 200 points, and you could enter sngs for 10 points or like 80
points, and freeroll tourneys that paid like $10 to the winner
(1500 entrants) or pay with your points to enter multi table tourneys
that paid out as much as $10,000.
I became hooked on the SNGs. They were nothing like real money, and
worse then the play money SNGs at Poker Stars and Full Tilt.
Seriously, first hand, like 4 people would go all in, with like any A, even
non suited connecters etc.
Rule was simple, you had AK or QQ+ you went all in first hand,
otherwise, let the smoke clear and hold on for the win.
Within a month, I was drowning in points, you would get points for second
or first place finishes in the 9 man SNGs.
When I hit 30,000 points I was bored. I was like well I can enter these
MTTS, and hope within all hell of a hope I placed, which never happened,
or just keep accumulating points. (No buy shops like Stars or Tilt.)
Thats when I found online poker for money.
From June to november, I will not even mention because it was the
same old story of a losing player. I figured, it was $20 for the site I was on
and the Min deposit on any site was $25 so I would give myself $25
a month to play poker. If I lost it within the month then tough luck for me.
I wait untill the first and redeposit.
The first month sucked ass!! I was spending like 2 hours a day playing
.01/.02 fixed limit and breaking even.
I started the SNGs and playing 1 $1.20 at a time, I was floating up and
down. Near the end of the month, I knew I could deposit $25 more,
so I got crazy and lost my BR.
Long story short this carried on for a few months.
Then I was searching the web for BR building tips.
In a forum, some dude posted just goto this site and they give you $50!
I was like SCAM!!!!! and I clicked on the link.
That link was to PokerStrategy.com
I got here and read that if I passed a quizz, I would get $50.
Again, I thought SCAM!!! and I started reading the articles.
I then took the quizz, the whole time thinking they will want my
credit card # or something this has to be a scam.
Needless to say I passed the quizz and promptly got my $50.
Thats when everything changed over night.
I read every bronze article on SNGs and I followed the BRM.
I opened the videos and shit myself when I saw Chenny8888
beat 4 $3.40 SNGs at once. I was introduced to push fold poker.
No longer was I hanging in there to be 4th or 3rd against a maniac or two
folding when folded to on the small blind.
Mind you to this day I end up in the money against at least one monster
stack controlled by a maniac more then not, but placing second often is
better then losing.
I deposited $50 and used the Pokerstars first deposit instead of the
Pokerstrategy one (mistake on my part).
So my BR was a total of $100 US. I played around with a few diff types of
tourneys here and there before I deposited, and was still playing 1
SNG at a time which you can see by my first chart. Then I found the
$3.40 18 man sngs and I never looked back. Using the videos and
strategy, I was able to make a tidy profit and clear my bonus.
I then used the FPP I had built up to join the Sat to the $100,000.
I sold the $T for real money and withdrew my entire bankroll and
the money leftover on the site I was on before Pokerstars
and put it all on Full Tilt a total of $275 US, for their first deposit bonus.
So at last you have reached the end of my post. Here is my chart and graph
for every game played since Nov 11 2008. I took a small beating in the
$3 knockouts, and if i continued I knew I would balance out but i opted for
$5.50 9 man non turbos instead. There are 22 tourneys missing and
I have been trying to get FT to email them to me but no response in
way over 48 hours. If I get them, Ill add the new chart. But
total BR on FT right now is $269.20. I lost a few bucks on ring games
trying to set up poker tracker 3 and check out how hand history works.
HAHA just yesterday I sat at a capped ring game wanting to fold anything
after posting my blind to see if the history showed me more and I was
dealt JJ OOP with my extra blind posted. I ended up flopping QJQ.
Of coourse I am all in against KQ and turn was a Q!!!
Anyhow here is my chart and graph.
Thanks for reading.
