*Warning!! This post is long because it is my first and covers from NOV11 2008 untill now!!**

Hello all, I am very impressed with this site, and the community which
is constantly involved with every single aspect of the forums.

I have read many of your blogs, and I really get a feeling of sharing
your ups and downs. I feel like I am watching a movie where I am
cheering for the good guy, and when I see that next chart, or post
where the nasty downswing has reared it's ugly head, I BOO!!!

I would really like to share in this part of the forums, with my story,
though it is nothing special, It should be entertaining enough to read,
and hopefully, it can lend some support to newcommers, and show them
that as of now, (who knows what the near future holds) You can make
some money and learn alot from this site and what it has to offer.

Fair warning from the get go, I am long winded and type long posts.

So where to start.... I started playing poker in 2008. It was on a site,
that you can play on for free or pay $20 a month and be a member,
this site offered play money ring tables and SNGs. You started i think
with like 200 points, and you could enter sngs for 10 points or like 80
points, and freeroll tourneys that paid like $10 to the winner
(1500 entrants) or pay with your points to enter multi table tourneys
that paid out as much as $10,000.

I became hooked on the SNGs. They were nothing like real money, and
worse then the play money SNGs at Poker Stars and Full Tilt.
Seriously, first hand, like 4 people would go all in, with like any A, even
      non suited connecters etc.

Rule was simple, you had AK or QQ+ you went all in first hand,
otherwise, let the smoke clear and hold on for the win.

Within a month, I was drowning in points, you would get points for second
or first place finishes in the 9 man SNGs.

When I hit 30,000 points I was bored. I was like well I can enter these
MTTS, and hope within all hell of a hope I placed, which never happened,
or just keep accumulating points. (No buy shops like Stars or Tilt.)

Thats when I found online poker for money.

From June to november, I will not even mention because it was the
same old story of a losing player. I figured, it was $20 for the site I was on
and the Min deposit on any site was $25 so I would give myself $25
a month to play poker. If I lost it within the month then tough luck for me.
I wait untill the first and redeposit.

The first month sucked ass!! I was spending like 2 hours a day playing
.01/.02 fixed limit and breaking even.

I started the SNGs and playing 1 $1.20 at a time, I was floating up and
down. Near the end of the month, I knew I could deposit $25 more,
so I got crazy and lost my BR.

Long story short this carried on for a few months.

Then I was searching the web for BR building tips.
In a forum, some dude posted just goto this site and they give you $50!
I was like SCAM!!!!! and I clicked on the link.

      That link was to PokerStrategy.com

I got here and read that if I passed a quizz, I would get $50.
Again, I thought SCAM!!! and I started reading the articles.
I then took the quizz, the whole time thinking they will want my
credit card # or something this has to be a scam.

Needless to say I passed the quizz and promptly got my $50.

Thats when everything changed over night.

I read every bronze article on SNGs and I followed the BRM.
I opened the videos and shit myself when I saw Chenny8888
beat 4 $3.40 SNGs at once. I was introduced to push fold poker.

No longer was I hanging in there to be 4th or 3rd against a maniac or two
folding when folded to on the small blind.

Mind you to this day I end up in the money against at least one monster
stack controlled by a maniac more then not, but placing second often is
      better then losing.

I deposited $50 and used the Pokerstars first deposit instead of the
Pokerstrategy one (mistake on my part).

So my BR was a total of $100 US. I played around with a few diff types of
tourneys here and there before I deposited, and was still playing 1
SNG at a time which you can see by my first chart. Then I found the
$3.40 18 man sngs and I never looked back. Using the videos and
strategy, I was able to make a tidy profit and clear my bonus.

I then used the FPP I had built up to join the Sat to the $100,000.
I sold the $T for real money and withdrew my entire bankroll and
the money leftover on the site I was on before Pokerstars
and put it all on Full Tilt a total of $275 US, for their first deposit bonus.

So at last you have reached the end of my post. Here is my chart and graph
for every game played since Nov 11 2008. I took a small beating in the
$3 knockouts, and if i continued I knew I would balance out but i opted for
$5.50 9 man non turbos instead. There are 22 tourneys missing and
I have been trying to get FT to email them to me but no response in
way over 48 hours. If I get them, Ill add the new chart. But
total BR on FT right now is $269.20. I lost a few bucks on ring games
trying to set up poker tracker 3 and check out how hand history works.

HAHA just yesterday I sat at a capped ring game wanting to fold anything
after posting my blind to see if the history showed me more and I was
dealt JJ OOP with my extra blind posted. I ended up flopping QJQ.
Of coourse I am all in against KQ and turn was a Q!!!

Anyhow here is my chart and graph.
      Thanks for reading.

Thank you Darkone. I have been inspired big time by
reading all the blogs that everyone else has done so far.
I hope to be able to add to this often, and I am looking forward
to any feedback I can get.

I have not played in a few days and It looks like Full Tilt takes
more then 3 days to respond to my emails, so I will just have to goto
my friends house which is an hour away and get the Hand Histories
for my 22 missing SNGs that way.

I should be playing about twenty or so more tournaments tonight
or tommorow, and I should be upating with some kind of post,
after I either take a beating or dish one out.

I wonder what Full Tilt does with their email, maybe I write an email to
support, and then that email can only go so far... and then it is hand
written and put in a tube and tied to a pigeon, and sent the rest of the
      way like that.

IDK im just rambling, but I thought they would do better then 3 days to
respond with anything else but the auto response saying they got my email.

Hey again for everyone reading, I managed to fit in 20 $5.50 SNGs today. I think I do better
when I do them as a set instead of opening one as I lose one. For some reason I start getting
my ass kicked when I am opening new ones before the 4 are done. I have a few hands
to post as well. Flopped QUAD J's today and totally bashed somepoor guy right in the
head with them, he figured he has a chance with his AQ I thinkhe had. Managed to get
him to go all in and pay me off and he prolly swore at me a bit. I swear some people get
so mad when my hands hold up I can only hope there is notsome kind of pet near them that has to take the heat.
So yeah I also posted about this in the Hand evaluation for $27 and under SNGs, but I feel
like I have this curse where I keep getting stuck in second place. Some of the suckouts are
just insane, and some times I have been trying to get fancy and just take em down only
to be wet noodled by a better hand.

So the first set I played today I played 4 of them and I managed to get 2nd place in 2.

Here is a nice hand that I rank up there with the stress ball use hands.
Being on the bubble makes it hurt that much more.... this SNG if I had a survived this
runner runner run me over with a truck finish, I prolly woulda got paid.

      SB (t3825)

      Hero's M: 18.93

Preflop: Hero is UTG with J(c), A(c)
Hero raises to t300, 1 fold, SB calls t250, 1 fold

      Flop: (t700) J(d), 7(d), 8(c) (2 players)
SB bets t700, Hero raises to t2540 (All-In), SB calls t1840

      Turn: (t5780) 8(d) (2 players, 1 all-in)

      River: (t5780) 5(d) (2 players, 1 all-in)

      Total pot: t5780

SB had A(d), J(s) (flush, Ace high).
Hero had J(c), A(c) (two pair, Jacks and eights).
      Outcome: SB won t5780

I put him on a flush draw. I really thought he would have shoved over me with pockets so
when he bet the pot I thought he had 2 Diamonds. Turns out I am blind, and he was protecting
his top pair from those same diamonds that happily broke my chip stack.

I obviously have alot to learn about reads. If you guys see anything I am wrong with,
please chime in with your opinions, it is the main reason why I am doing this blog
to learn from everyone and to show that a profit is possible with SNGS.

anyhow I wont bother posting every hand I got the boot from a SNG with today, out of
20 played, I placed in 9 of them so thats 11 hands, and 11 sad stories, which im sure you
would all be bored after justa few a day so I think I will keep it to that for now. I will also
post the chart at the end of each blog entry with that days sessions, to make it easy to
keep track and so you can just scroll down and see what the BR stands at, and what the
day was like. Ill also include the graph each day, with my totlal progress. Sadly it is still
missing 22 SNGs because Full Tilt does not respond to support emails.

So after the first 4, with the AJ attack, I took a break for a while, and then opened up 4
more SNGS. Alas I think the 2nd place curse is passing. I ended up with a 2nd and a 1st
place out of this set. Of course I got sucked out on a few times as well, but when I Was
heads up in the one i took first , I had a huge enough stack to take a few cheap shots
from the poker gods who laugh at me when I am in the final two every time!!
So I managed to hold up and win one. The irony is I ened up sucking out on him!!
this was the second last hand I beleive When he went all in with me I was saying I knew
it!!! here we go again!!! not only does he suck out a few times till were stacked like this,
but he is gonna turn over the big slick and show me that first place is not for me!!!

      Outcome: Hero won t12640

And it didn't end there... bah we played tennis for a while and he made it back to some 3k
chips and then the most unthinkable happened..... I sucked out again!!!! MWAHAHAHA
I know its bad to taunt, but I have gotten run over shot stabbed and pissed on heads up
so many times it just felt good to win one. Here is the final hand.

SB had 9, A (one pair, twos).
      Outcome: Hero won t7560

Whoohoo. Anyhow this post is getting long enough, Dont want you all falling asleep.
To sum it up, Went in for 8 consecutively after this, as one was done I would open another
one right away. And I took a beating. Out of the 8 I played I placed 2nd once.

most of it was standard stuff, I was dealt KK on the third hand and got that puppy all in
preflop against AA. No problem I get a warm feeling inside when I get my ass kicked by
better cards. Its the all in 44 or 66 PF or A rag sucking out on KK that used to hurt.
now I just say nice hand dam you smoked me good. Please do that same move next time.
      and every other time!

After the beating I tok a small break and watched my shrunken bankroll and figured
I was not pissed off so I could go for the last 4 games a a set. HOLY SHIT was it ever
an awsome set!!! I ended up placing in all 4. I have never done that before.
I made 1st place 2 times and 2nd place once and 3rd once. The BR is at its highest yet
      at just over $303 U.S.

Anyhow in closing for those of you still with me here is the Quad J hand, and then my
      chart and graph.

Thanks for reading and see you next time I play which should be soon.

Nice blog!! I always get really excited when a see a new SNG blog and just read it right away so the longer the posts the better!

I see you have an insane ROI. How many tables do you play in a set? 4? Even then it would be really nice. Way better than I ever had over a big sample.

Anyways, looking forward to your next post. I'm kinda thinking I could also start my own blog. I'm playing the 6,50$ TURBOs on Full Tilt so we might learn a thing or two from each other.. Gotta go return the microwave to the store now. :D

      Good luck at the tables!

      hello 897,

nice blog! I'll check it out from time to time :)

I noticed you posted a lot of hands in the sng board, keep on posting and sessionreviewing.

Oh, and when you post hands in this blog please don't use that crazy green colour. Use images for the suits, it makes the hands far easier to read :)

      Anyway about those hands:
AJs: nh well played, you can always go broke with top pair here. Don't assume he has a flushdraw, you have to think in "ranges" of hands for your opponents :)

KQs: I don't really like it against unknown. You're still pretty deepstacked, I don't like pushing K high. If you know him to be agressive it's OK

A2: same comment really.. A2 isn't good enough

grt and goodluck on the tables :)

Sorry about the Hand posts, but for some strange reason, It was saying I had too many
images in the post when I was trying to post the reply. So I just quickly took out the
images of the suits from the first few hands. I will try ro manually add the letters in proper
colors for their suit next time or something.

So I find that interesting you figure I should lay down A2 heads up? I am not arguing
with you on it I mean this could be one of the reasons why I am missing out on so
      many heads up 1st places.

I had never thought it possible to fold an ace heads up. I will fold Q5 and K4 but have
never laid down an ace preflop heads up yet. Guess its time to start!!

And Luborg, I was thinking about playing the $6.50 turbos, but I would like to get a little
better with my push fold game, and later stage game first. So far the hands I posted
in the SNG evaluation spot from yesterday seem to be getting a nod for the most part
from those who have read them. So Well see.

I know the hourly rate is slower with non turbos. But they are so much easier to beat.
Once in a while, I get stuck on an ultra long bubble, weak tight, and chips just flow from
one to the other in small batches, and back again. but in answer to your question, I play
4 SNGs at a time in a set, so I am not bored waiting for the bubble to pop unless its the
last table open. But normally the longest ones are the ones that get to the bubble much
sooner then the rest with the blinds still low and all the retards out of the picture.

And lastly, after seeing for the most part well wait for the stamp from Chenny8888
to judge the evaluation section, it seems I should keep trying to push for opening one
      as soon as one closes.

I could make a little more of a profit per day that way If it doesnt eat into my ability to
      play too much.

Anyhow I'm off for now and I will be playing I hope another 20 or so today.
I will be posting an update with how it went when I am done.

      Thanks Hlynkinn, I appreciate it.

So normally I will not be posting so many times in a day but I just checked my email and
beleive it or not, Full Tilt had actually sent the hand histories!!!!! They came hand chiseled
in stone and arrived on a cargo boat from wherever Full Tilt is, so hence the delay.

The only problem is, one of the hiding refugees on the boat was hungry and must have
eaten one of my hand histories because on eof them is missing!!! So I have sent another
email via pigeon to Full Tilt to get the last one back.

I am tempted to type out a fake hand history for the SNG so my numbers match up.
I would prolly get it done quicker then waiting for the next cargo ship to cross whatever
ocean is seperating me and Full Tilt.

Anyhow reason I am posting is to post the final Chart and Graph with the $3.50 +30
super turbos added, I got all of their hand histories, and 7 out of the 8 $5.50 SNGS
that I had played on Jan 4th as well.

So this will give an acurate picture of where I stand except for the one missing little sneaky
$5.50 SNG be it eaten or jumped ship early or whatever. I will however add it in casually
along with whatever set I am posting the info from at the time in a few weeks when
      it arrives.

Ok ok enough bashing Full Tilt's slow support. All in All, I must say I am impressed with
how I only wrote 1 sentence in the email without my name or any other info just
requesting the 22 SNGS and they responded to it and sent them. They must just be
backlogged or something. Maybe its the piles of people who have just been
hammer banned flooding support with WTF emails.

Ok so enough rambling and here is the full picture from November 11, 2008 untill today
minus one $5.40 SNG which I had placed 3rd in.

P.S. the reason it shows how many 4th place finsihes there are is because when I was
playing the $3.40 18 man SNGs, 4th place paid so I wanted them listed. And now it
looks kinda cool so I left it like that. If anyone else is using Poker Tracker 3 and needs
some help with these things let me know.

      Hi 8979687

nice blog! I also play sng's for bank roll building, at $5 currently. I sometimes check my graph on sharkscope and see that it's very accurate for all sng's I've played.

good fortune at the tables - if you see me say hi!

Hehe nice post, awfull colour though
They most likely look at the email adress only to "license" those sng histories :)

Oh, and I think that you can only put 2-3 hand histories in one post. You can make multiple posts though.

      Hey 897!

That is exactly what I need! When I saw you had the 4 palce listed I wanted to check how often did I bust out on the bubble but I couldn't figure out how to get it to show.. Help would be much appreciated!

WOOT ok so tonight started out like All nights should!!

      QUAD ACES!!!!!

And the poor guy had no chance, he was dealt KK I was dealt AA, and we had a limper.
Limper was like ok so its time to fold. And BOOM!!! 2 more aces to just bitch slap
      those kings.

      here is the hand....

Infact, I was dealt pocket Aces 4 times in 8 SNGS. Here is one hand that I think the
SB messed up with. He hit 3 of a kind Q's but just checked to me then flat called my raise.
He was in 3 of my tables and had been watching me play if he has any idea how to
multi table, and should have known to just raise when he was ahead or check shove.
Maybe he was afraid I had AK or something and would have folded if he acted tough,
but I say bet when you got it, he ended up taking it in the behind anyhow for all his chips.
I knew I had to bet fold when I saw the QQ, because he was a regular......
though chances are I would not have let those bullets go... Im working on it, but
it can be hard to fold two aces postflop, but I think for sure if a regular called me from
the SB this early in the game with that many of us left, He would know I have something
and am not stealing with a wide range yet.....

I guess I can get away with one more hand before I have to remove the images. The
next 4 SNGS did not go so well, I got my ass handed to me in 3 of them, and placed
2nd in the 4th one. I will be posting some of these heads up hands because I must
be doing something terribly wrong. But here is a hand I messed up quite nicely
in the second set. You know how they say when in ROME do as the ROMANS,
well maybe I was just in donkey central and just played like a donkey does!!

Heres the hand... Laugh at me I played this one horribly. Shit as soon as I called his raise
I knew I Was in trouble ... Ok now I have screwed myself if I hit my jack and no str8
yet what did I do? Ok mr raiser tell you what, I have just been running pretty hot lately
so I think ill just blow this one. For deception.. yeah umm thats it... I really play
      for Intelli Poker, not PokerStrategy....

Anyhow, Thats it for this one folks. ll in all I ended up with an addition to my BR instead of
a minus, but IDK why I had some brain farts suddenly when playing the second set.
Hopefully I can find my heads up leaks by posting. I will also be posting a video for
Chenny8888 to do a session review with. The second set would have been great
for the strategy video section. I can just hear his accent now... Umm.. Dont do that...
thats 897s variant of poker... and ummm yeah..

anyhow once I figure out where to upload it to and I find the paper I wrote the url for
the forum to get into when I'm ready to post it, I left it at my buddies house when
Chenny8888 was doing his last coaching, so when I get over there and find the url,
I will def post a video of a set of 4 SNGS for him to review.

Here is the Chart for tonight and the graph.

      your $5 stats for 50 games or so = 4 first places, 15 2nd places, 1 third...

Could be variance but maybe you need to work on your HU game or get more aggressive when ITM or something :) ... you might want to look into that.. the prize between 1st and 2nd is huge so this is probably a thing you should look into :)

Good luck nice to see you winning some moneyzzz... and nice roi so far on the 5's

Totally agree with Hlynkinn. You should have at least the same number of 1st places as 2nd, preferably even more of course. You rarely win and that amounts to LOTS of money you could have made but didn't.

I suggest you try the ICM triner and set it to just two players and see what ranges are pushable and with what hands you should be calling. Then you will have do adapt a bit of course like only push with like 10-13 BB and less and even then push a bit tighter but it should give you some general idea..
Coachings are also great the coaches are usually more than happy to answer any questions so just ask them to talk a bit more about the HU stage..

It's normal to have a big discrepancy between 1st and 2nd on the lowest limits imo.. because you will often go headsup against an opponent who won alot of chips through gambling.

This is a huge difference though... and working on your HU game is never bad :)

@Chenny8888 thanks, I will get on it now, I made one but it was over 500 megs. I went
ahead and saved it at 1280x768 or whatever size I had the screen. I made it the exact size
of my 4 tables on a 19 inch monitor.

I may just put it up on my own pc and set up an ftp link, and hope for thebest, unless you
guys can suggest what resolution to save the final video at, I have a fast machine so its no
prob for me to make the video in whatever resolution, its just a matter of someone having to
transfer it from me. I have a 1mbit upload connection.

Green in my favorite color, and it is the color of money, but it is to much of a pain in the ass
to keep making my blog posts green. Switching to black.

Ok, now on to the heads up issue, here are some hands from yesterday.

In this first hand it looks like I am too happy to get my whole stack in with any ace again.
And it seems I have plenty of BBS left so I did not have to do this.

      Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, 5+0.50 Tournament, 120/240 Blinds (2 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

      Button (t6500)
      Hero (SB) (t7000)

      Hero's M: 19.44

Preflop: Hero is SB with 4, A
Button raises to t720, Hero raises to t7000 (All-In), Button calls t5780 (All-In)

      Flop: (t13000) 10, 9, 7 (2 players, 2 all-in)

      Turn: (t13000) 3 (2 players, 2 all-in)

      River: (t13000) K (2 players, 2 all-in)

      Total pot: t13000

Button had K, A (one pair, Kings).
Hero had 4, A (high card, Ace).
      Outcome: Button won t13000

So anyhow yeah I guess I got to stop being so happy to get such a huge stack all in with
any ace. I will take your advice and set icm trainer to just 2 players and see how bad I do.

Yep... looks like a leak.... here we go again with almost an identical situation.. but a better
ace in my hand this time and still a better ace in his. And again I had a huge stack. I could
have waited for a better spot to get him later.

Hero raises to t800, SB raises to t6310 (All-In), Hero calls t5510

      Flop: (t12620) 8, Q, 4 (2 players, 1 all-in)

      Turn: (t12620) 5 (2 players, 1 all-in)

      River: (t12620) J (2 players, 1 all-in)

      Total pot: t12620

Hero had A, 7 (high card, Ace).
SB had J, A (one pair, Jacks).
      Outcome: SB won t12620

IDK why i had it in my head shoving an ace was a good thing preflop, regardless of my stack.

Well now I know what I got to work on, lets see if I can improve it.

Thanks for the help guys, this blog is allready helping ,me out big time.

OUCH!! I took a beating tonight!!!

Got 21 SNGs in and ended up down $34.50.

On the bright side, When I actually did make it to heads up which was two times, I managed
to take first place. The advice you guys gave me helped. One of the heads up went on forever.

I had a CRAZY start to this SNG, check out these 2 hands back to back!!
it was smooth sailing after this with a couple more sick hands. then
it was heads up forever because the blinds were so low.

      SB bets t660, Hero raises to t1290 (All-In), MP2 calls t1290 (All-In), SB calls t630 (All-In)

      Turn: (t4530) 8 (3 players, 3 all-in)

      River: (t4530) 9 (3 players, 3 all-in)

      Total pot: t4530

SB had Q, Q (one pair, Queens).
Hero had 10, 10 (three of a kind, tens).
      MP2 had K, K (one pair, Kings).
      Outcome: Hero won t4530

I 3x raised the tens first in because the blinds were so low. I would have folded to the
reraise but when there was another caller, I had to get in there. I was going to fold
with no set and any flop that sucked, but i flopped GIN!!!

Then the next hand is self explanitory.

      Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, 5+0.50 Tournament, 25/50 Blinds (6 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

      BB (t3055)

Preflop: Hero is MP with Q(s), Q(h)

      Flop: (t450) 3(h), 3(s), 2(c) (3 players)

Hero had Q(s), Q(h) (two pair, Queens and threes).
      Outcome: Hero won t2000

But on the shitty side, in 21 SNGs, I was dealt KK 10 times!! and only paid twice.
I even had them cracked twice. Whcih sucked and I kept getting AQ
oop suited or not and having to lay it down. I was delt AQos 16 times!!!
this is what variance is, I know I do not have a problem playing AK and AQ.. but
tonight was suckout city or just poor situations where I had to let them go,
and I am glad I laid them down when I did, because I would have lost more cash!!

12 times I found myself holding AK and i had em cracked by 99 once, and was folded to
with no action 6 times. Oh and TT also destroyed my AK.

I felt like I had passed by the Poker God's Temple and forgot to donate to the dam shrine
or something. But hey thats poker right? Could have been much worse. Also on FT, the
SNGs were opening up so slowly. One was registering at a time so they were infested with
regulars. But I think I held my own ok. Got called a donkey for playing push fold poker more
then once which worked out great. After shoving into the big blind 3 or 4 times he got
pissed and let me know it, said I am a skillless coin flipper.. though he never called me once.

I thanked him and folded the next couple of weak hands to him when I was folded to in the SB. Then
I got a suited ace, shoved and he calle me with I think it was J8s

He was much less happy with me when he lost that one.

So much so infact he shoved A2 UTG and went out cursing. I know my game is more then
decent when it comes to regular play, so I can seriously join the bandwagon of all the
other bloggers when it comes to tonights session. Just getting my ass handed to me
often when I Was ahead. But for once I didnt tilt. I couldnt beleive it, I was not even
pissed a little bit. Titlting used to be a huge problem for me, so another leak solved i think.

All in all, the BR took a small hit but it is still higher then the original deposit to FT, and I am
at like $18 and change out of $20 needed to release the first chunk of bonus.

I was gunna play another set or two but figured if I had gone this long without tilting, why
push it? I mean just a few more ass kickings when I was ahead and I for sure would have
been raving pissed. There is only so much anyone can take.

To top it all off, I didnt even record any of it for the review. BAh i had forgot all about it,
and that sucks because I made my share of errors, and I really want to have someone
      point out my leaks.

My ROI on the day is pretty shit, but whatever, Its the worst I ever had, but its only over 21
SNGs and Im sure if I keep playing the way I have been and improving, I will bounce back.

Here is the graph and chart of the slaughtering....
