CHAPTER ONE

Become a shark _love:

Welcome to my blog! I always romanticized poker. Influenced by High Stakes Poker seasons 1-5, the big main events, mysterious online legends, its strategical depth, people who blogged their poker lifes on PS.com et al and The Rounders. Now that I have some time I want to try that very lifestyle myself.

The plan is simple: put most time into studying poker. Learn theory, review hands and tournies and crush tables. Max two tables at once.

  • Start BR: $104.49
  • Format: $1.10 MTTs [8-9 players 7-10min] + $1 MTSNGs [Regular 45 players 10min]
  • Rooms: PokerstarsEU ($104.49), BetOnline ($0)

Long-term goals:

  • start a poker blog ✔️
  • play perfect poker
  • 🥇 ship MTT
  • play 100 MTTs ✔️
  • play 1000 MTTs
  • play a live tournament
  • buy PT4 ✔️
  • try ICMIZER
  • try GTO Wizard
  • $500 BR

Week One 🂡

Image generated with DALL·E 2 by https://openai.com

BR: $133.33
Rewards: $1
Tournaments Played: 129
Hands played: 10,849
ROI: 19%
Profit: +28.84 USD

Big poker week. Played and studied tons. Lots of learnings.

$1 MTSNGs ROI: 60%

Ran really well which is nice starting out. Tables are super soft, full of donkies and often nit fests and generally very predictable.

$1.10 MTTs ROI: -47% _cry:

I misplayed some badly but they also turned out to be even bigger crapshoots than expected and I was running kinda poorly, but I could expect with perfect play and a bit of luck to make a final table COPIUM. Best so far was 40th out of 2617 players for 9 bucks including bounties. Trying to figure out my weaknesses. I don't wanna give up on this because of my love for the tournament format. Also played some $0.30-0.50 sats.

Learning material:

TODO:

  • reread some of the material
  • short 5 min workout before every session
  • find leaks with PT
  • MTSNGs on weekdays, big MTTs on the weekend cuz potentially higher ROI
  • study silver content on PS
  • order more salads

Hand of the Week _cool:

Misclicked the 3bet 8bb.

Hero (BB): 21.48 BB
UTG: 23.33 BB
UTG+1: 36.49 BB
MP: 18.07 BB
CO: 23.15 BB
BTN: 26.1 BB
SB: 34.97 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.37 BB) Hero has A♠ A♥

fold, UTG+1 raises to 2.3 BB, fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 9 BB, UTG+1 raises to 36.37 BB and is all-in, Hero calls 12.36 BB and is all-in

Spoiler

Flop: (44.09 BB, 2 players) A♦ A♣ 9♦

Turn: (44.09 BB, 2 players) 4♥

River: (44.09 BB, 2 players) 9♠

Hero shows A♠ A♥ (Four of a Kind, Aces)
UTG+1 shows J♣ J♦ (Two Pair, Aces and Jacks)
Hero wins 44.09 BB

The probability of flopping quad aces is approximately 0.0452%. This means that you would expect to flop quad aces once in every 2,210 hands, on average.

Concerned myself much less with poker this week. The will was there but my mental state just wasn't right and in hindsight I should've played much less and put that time into theory instead. Can't wait for spring to really kick off. Seasonal affective disorder has been kicking my butt this winter.

I think you might have mistaken my thread with another one. I didn't win any lottery to my knowledge, but I appreciate you wanting to spread a charitable cause.

WOW! You guys are completely correct of course. I was looking around after olegunn's post and couldn't find anything so I assumed he must have posted in the wrong thread lol. I'm absolutely thrilled and can't believe how lucky I am. Big thanks to PS.com for running this raffle and everyone here who congratulated me and had let me known about this, I don't know how long I wouldn't have realized otherwise. I will check the frontpage more frequently now _biggrin:

Worst week yet. Ran comedically bad at times but nothing to tilt over, micro stakes are for learning after all. What is indefinitely worse is playing poorly so coming week I want to focus my poker time much more on theory again, especially working through the silver content on PS.com.

Just finished a second watchthrough of The Last of Us. As a huge fan of the original first game I wanna say the TV show did it justice and I started to like it even more than the game by the end of it. At first I kinda was put off by minor things like how differently the actors looked compared to the game character designs, but you start to accept them very quickly, they did a fantastic job.

TLOU was awesome, loved every minute of it. I never played the game though.

Pedro Pascal is perfect for these rolls.

BR: $121.76
Tournaments Played: 87
Hands played: 6,938
ROI: -10.88%
Profit: -4.45 USD

Another awful week. Definitely took some hits to my morale at points but it's whatever. I've been basically grinding MTSNGs all this time to then lose all profits by playing MTTs _ugly: I might want to restructure my strategy a little bit and try building more of a bankroll before jumping back into MTTs, just for the psychological effect, but not sure yet. Shipping a big MTT (1k+ players) is generally my main goal.

Almost reached my goal of playing 100 MTTs at least. Played 362 games past four weeks for a profit of about 17 bucks _biggrin: but the journey has definitely been pretty fun so far.

Happy to hear that you enjoyed it that much as someone who didn't play the game, because I'm sometimes not sure with my recommendation to people who haven't. Agreed, Pedro Pascal is really good in this role _love:
