i was in middle position with my pocket 9's, like the SSS sais i raise 4 times the blinds + 1 blind per limper. I get one caller who is behind me.
Flop brings Qc 8d Kc. I'm first to act and bet out 2/3 of the pot and get reraised so i folded. Should i've check/folded the flop or was this the right thing to do?
your play was the right play
you check /fold against 2 or more players
just follow the SSS articles and you will be alright
quote from SHC:
Early Middle
99 Call / Call 15 Call / Call 15
So you should have called, which would've made your decision easier. Thanks for the trust, guys.
helemaalnicks, your chart is for Big stack strategy, while the posted hand played according to Short stack strategy.
The SHC for SSS states that you should fold 99 preflop if you not on a very late position. Only in an unraised pot in late position you should raise it (or call it for set value)
there's no calling for set value in SSS.
And if you're using Call15, topic creator has to say stacks etc to see if it was the right move.
SSS = beginner strategy and 99 gets beginners into a LOT of trouble.
If doing SSS i would've check/folded the flop. you have 3rd pair which is totally useless.
Stick to the articles, what in this case often means, either Push All-In (if you are pot committed), or play check/fold.
