Players doesn´t really raise too often if you lead out there and would very often fold their air
I think betting out river yourself is fine. I doubt he is valuebetting there now overpairs
But I think this call preflop is a mistake against such a nit. Putting him on 99+, AQo+, if a J comes you'll have 33% equity and 66% equity with a Q, but then it's hard to fold so the reverse implied are bad. Plus you're oop. Right?

it really depends how well you can get away one pair hand postflop, you don´t have to start c/c and then decide if you want to call his turn and river bet. Always it is easier to lead out yourself and if get raised then just fold your hand. With QJs I think you have implied odds to put 20 cents into 0.9$ pot and maybe win another 10$ if you should hit your flush/two pair/straight
But if you really don´t want to play oop against nit (I usually don´t mind it) then fold is also fine
